Hey guys awesome advice. I'm going through your older videos in preparation for having an engine built for my XD in the next 6 to 12 months time. I won't be building it myself - not mechanically minded unfortunately. But after taking note of the great info in your comparos I'll at least have a wish list of components and techniques that should be incorporated into it. Thanks heaps for imparting all this wonderful knowledge.

So awesome, brother. I am from bc Canada, and we brought home a 71 Mustang mach 1 351C C6 car. It has 4V small dot closed chamber heads. This car is going to be for the street, but I want to keep it 95% original, just a few day 2 things like new intake headers, carb , wheels, and tires. Love the information.

@ 2:17 Wow! I am just now shopping for the intake gaskets for the Edelbrock aluminum intake, so I was watching your video to see how to install it. I have the original Ford cast iron 2V intake sitting on a shelf and it still has the metal valley pan (aka: Turkey Pan) stored with it. So I I figured I would buy a new metal valley pan and install it instead of just the paper gaskets. Thanks for the tip, saved me from damaging the aluminum intake. Thanks!

I’ve got two sets of D0ZAE Boss 302 cylinder heads in perfect shape and a set of D1AE 351-C closed chamber heads that are also in perfect shape. I’m running the Chris Parker funnel web intake with the tongues on my 351-C, roller cam. I have gone a best of 9.20’s on a 200 shot and still had some left in the motor. I just didn’t want to push it and tear up my motor. 34 degrees of timing on motor and 29 degrees on a 200 shot! My next motor is a 6” long rod, 3.5” stroke 351-C with AFD 3V cylinder heads with the funnel web intake and aftermarket block.

Great video dude! My favorite topic is "Cleveland" engines, and specifically their heads. I'd probably go for the "Weiand" intake, I've used pretty much the exact same one, and same brand on my 302. Also I use fairly large camshafts, I like one in the 292 degrees duration. You know what I'm talking about, anyways thanks dude, you know what you are talking about.

Hey mate good show. Like the content. I am running a 2v performer with a 2inch hvh 4 hole spacer and drop base k and n 14 by 3 inch filter. All fits under the bonnet of my xc ute with about 15mm clearance. Last summer the centre section of the spacer got hot and distorted resulting in the secondaries not opening. I took it off and die ground out the centre still leaving some of the ears between the holes. This resulted in way better throttle response off idle as the primarys can distribute better to the rear cylinders. Was thinking of swapping to a Torque Power hi rise dual. It should fit under the bonnet with no spacer or if I fit a thinner 2.25 inch filter should be able to run a half inch spacer. The ute runs an x stream filter top and gt shop engine mounts that I think are 10mm lower than stock. Have you had much to do with the torque power manifold? Also given that I have had a spacer fail already is ply wood one worth a try? Don't know what material the hvh is,some type of grey plastic. Has a drag use only stencil on it.

A question concerning Cleveland crankshafts. Was there much difference between the 2 & 4 barrel stock cranks in the early years? I've recently purchased a 4 boltain block 72 casting and a set of 4 barrel doae closed chamber heads. I've got a complete 2 barrel engine and felt I could use the rotating assembly plus the externals to put together a 4 barrel engine.
@thclevoking2 жыл бұрын
No difference in the cranks mate they are the same for 2 bolt and 4 bolt blocks.

The Weiand that I got needed a shitload of work so I sent it back. I have used the Holley street dominator for a while. Very good fit but no longer available. Gone to CHI heads and intake. A lot better and expensive! Race engine. Though I know of street engines with them and the work surprisingly very well The filter top filter will work fine with a 2" element. That 4" element will not fit under a Falcon bonnet, even with a Performer which is an excellent piece for street use. Though for street use the standard Ford airfilter, works fine. A cold air pipe to behind the headlight helps a lot. Quiet and discreet

And use the tin tray, even with a alloy intake. It does help. Imperative on the iron intake.

Clevo King, just ran into your channel today. Can you recommend the absolute best heads for a 393 Cleveland. I live in California. Trickflow heads/ CHI heads. It’s going to be a street engine.
@thclevoking4 жыл бұрын
I have used trickflow and had great results. A lot of my mates are using 3V CHI and making huge power. I want to try and find a set of blue thunder heads to work over one day. Scott cook motorsports and Higgins also do some real nice heads for making big numbers too.

They are ok on some builds. I had some luck on a worked hi comp 4v with them and not much luck with a stock 4v. I find they usually work good on engines with the intake tongues fitted to help speed up the air flow and help with fuel atomisation.

I’d be thinking a Holley Strip Dominator or Edelbrock torker 2 would distribute better then a dual plane mate, I should do the 4v version of this video with some of my intakes
@jesussaves63484 жыл бұрын
I installed a cleveland 2v in my 89 Bronco. It has the dual plane intake with a 650 Edelbrock. My problem is it bogs under a load (power braking) and dies. I'm wondering if it's starving for fuel. It runs great and even runs great when giving it full throttle in park
@thclevoking4 жыл бұрын
You should play with the metering rods, edelbrock carbies are good but at a certain power level the Holleys take over and it’s Game Over
@jesussaves63484 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that. It's a little more than stock but not much
@rondyechannel13994 жыл бұрын
The accelerator pump has run out of fuel when you are holding it against the converter and you are not getting enough fuel flow through the main jets for the load and on an Edelbrock you will have to find a needle with a smaller step to enrichen the mix. It is easier to adjust the power valve system on a Holley for a longer, larger or delayed acc. pump shot for this scenario. You should be able to tune the problem out which ever way you go.
@jesussaves63484 жыл бұрын
Sweet Brother. Thank you. I will definitely try that

Sorry you already answered that. What carb did you recommend? And if you were to build a street car and wanted to get 450-500 to the flywheel what set up would you do? I was looking at changing my 2v head for either CHI2v or trick flow 225 72cc. Would appreciate any suggestion on cam, crank etc. just a backyard mechanic trying to figure out a strong street car. I currently have a edelbrock performer with 600 holey, 9” filter😂😂😂, mid rv cam, stock bottom end.

After many hours of dyno and street work we found the best manifold is the standard 2 barrel manifold. The best air cleaner is the factory air cleaner complete with the heat pipe to the exhaust. We have 30,000 hours of engine dyno work devoted to engines and what they need regards temperature and fuel distribution. The cleveland needs the stock air cleaner for the purpose of setting up proper air turbulence at the butterfly.

@thclevoking3 жыл бұрын
The 750 hurts a stock 302 a lot down low, best to use a 600 vac sec if possible.

The Edelbrock Performer 2v sucks ass. Its only good for weight savings. I had a Holley 3310 750 on it on my street Cleveland and replaced it with Weiand Excellerator 2v on same engine with a Speed Demon 650 DP and woke the engine up. Great street intake/carb combo. People worry about the idle to 2000 rpm but there's no reason to. Honestly, unless you are at the stop light, how often are you at 1500-2000 rpm? You will get the same fuel milage from a DP and a vacuum secondary carb - it all depends on how heavy your foot is.
