This is perfect, because you're doing this on a block and not on something that's in the engine bay, this has MUCH better lighting and angles for seeing how you use the tool. Thank you for this!

Thank you so very much for your video. My spark plug broke by the fire wall, and it was very painful.

Curtis - Hello! Thanks for making this video! I was changing spark plugs on my 2006 Mustang GT, and one of the plugs broke just like you show in your video. I searched on youtube, and I saw many videos on how to extract, but when I came across your video, everything was an eye opener and gave me confidence to fix my problem. I got the tool kit today and did exactly as you show in y our video - it worked! Thanks again brother! GBY!

Nice tool! Though I wonder, could you put a rag over the broken plug and start the engine to blow the broken piece out and into the rag?

Does this tool only work the trition and mustang or can I use this on Asian and European vehicles??

How did you get it off the extractor tool after extracting? No videos show this step ever.

I have always just grabbed the tip with a pair of plyers and unscrew it.

What do you do if all the porcelain came out fine and it’s just a threaded sleeve of the spark plug that stayed in there

Hello, what type of oil did you use to loosen the metal sleeve? The best video of this topic!

What if there is no porcelain in the ground point that’s stuck? You can’t push the porcelain because there won’t be any so do you just go to the second step? My 4.6 has the ground point stuck with no porcelain

How do you get the spark plug barrel out if the extractor will not grip? 2005 ford f150 5.4 3 value engine.

I haven't run into a situation where the spark plug barrel didn't come out. I've done dozens of these and have never had that happen. Sorry I can't help.

I personally haven't ran into that situation. I have pulled dozens of plugs out and have been successful at getting them all out so far. Sorry that I can't help. Thanks for watching.

what when pulling tool won't grab/bite ?
@mikeperrinoid19016 ай бұрын
I'm on my 2nd of 3 that were broke & am having this problem rn. Brand new tool,& rechecked the threads to make sure all was still good, so it isn't the extractor? Wish it would bite as easy as these 2 did. The 1st one didn't thread easy as these. Had to use a lil force & multiple attempts. I'm about to just go try the 2nd one again & apply more pressure? Then I'll only have 1 left to go, Hope it works.

By tightening the porcelain puncher all the way down, aren’t you breaking pieces of the porcelain off into the cylinder?
@phatkidgarage59413 жыл бұрын
It does break the porcelain, but I haven't had any end up in the cylinder. I believe it still has enough length in the tip not to go through.
@phatkidgarage59413 жыл бұрын
No. It pushes the end of the porcelain through the strap. but doesn't break it.
@mikeperrinoid19016 ай бұрын
Also the tools made so it's not possible to push all way through. The tool thats made by Lisle that is. To be honest it's the one u want to be using. OEM & Evertuff aren't good. They use a glue method to get out broken porcelain that doesn't work

What happens to that pice of porcelain that you said “ pops or crunch”?
@phatkidgarage594110 ай бұрын
It stays in the bottom portion of the plug that is removed.
@JoezGarage3 жыл бұрын
hey Man you mention that there's a process to breaking the plugs that are stuck in the motor when the actually threads that hold the coil come loose and pull out of the cylinder. do you know that process or point me in that direction? I have more then 4 out with the same tool you are using but ofcourse the plugs in the back of the motor close to the firewall are stuck in the motor and I have removed the actual nut with threads they are just stuck in there and I cant seem to break them to get the porcelain punch in to do the rest.. great video you deserve more subs and views
@phatkidgarage59413 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe! First off, thanks for support by watching the videos and subscribing to the channel. As far getting the upper part of the porcelain off if the metal sleeve pulls off, what I do when this happens is put a big flat blade screwdriver or something that you can wedge between the spark plug hole and the upper part of the sparkplug itself and break the upper part of the spark plug off. Then just use a magnet to grab the broken off piece out of the hole. I would also vacuum out the hole before extracting the rest of the plug to ensure you don't have any small pieces of porcelain fall into the cylinder. On this particular engine I only had one do that and it was before I started filming so I wasn't able to get the process on video. I hope this helps and thanks again for supporting the channel.

@@phatkidgarage5941 clutch bro I did this and it worked almost perfectly I was able to brake the piece off with a chisel with a handle and then a couple picks with a bend to break the top portion off and I used a vacuum attachment I made with a small hose to suck it clean and then the rest was a cake walk the tool to remove the broken plugs is really great. Thank you for your help. I have 3 more to do where the threads have came out and not the olug
@JoezGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@phatkidgarage5941 I also did this with the motor still in the truck so it was tricky finding the right screw driver or tool to wedge in there I had this happen with pretty much every plug where the metal sleeve just came out but I was able to do all 4 of the front ones with just a long needle nose and wiggle till it broke the plugs deep by the firewall toooook soooo much work to get them loose. So if anyone’s reading this follow @phatkid Garage cause he explained it great there it is very doable with the right time and effort, I also took small videos of me y the plug with my tools so I’ll post that if anyone wants to see

Pretty much any model from '08 onward. This shit scares me on my 05 4.6 lol. Put Nickel Anti seize on the shielding to potentially prevent this from happening on the new plugs.
