Hi can you make one harness 88 town car 5.0 L to go into a f 100

i butchered my working harness (2 technically) and its been hell trying to unfuck my stupidity, these videos are actually a big help...even though im working with a 2000 mountaineer 5.0 swapped into mid 80's ranger (blah blah blah) its surprisingly similar

I'd like to see more about that project. Especially any wiring stuff. I'm considering a that same swap on my 1987 Ranger that I just picked up, although I'm starting to look at the 3.8 supercharged Thunderbird engine just to be different.

What do u charge for a ready to go harness putting a explorer 5.0 in a 65 coupe without gt40p heads

Hi Floyd, I haven’t been doing a lot of harness conversions lately, but my price depends on the condition of the donor harness and what you’re trying to do. Are you using the Explorer computer and harness? I only work with Fox Body 5.0 computers so I’m not much help beyond that. I do know the 5.0 from the Explorer is a fantastic setup for installing into an older Ford. However the computer itself will need to be flashed with the right parameters for it to work. There is a guy in Colorado that does this work and he is really easy to work with. His name is @EFIGuy and he may be able to help you. If you have a Mustang computer 86-93 and complete harness then we can figure something out.

@@brandon_n5 do you mean wiring for the EFI harness or the entire car?

I'm putting a 95 5.0 lt into my 85 Bronco, do i have to do all of this to the harness that came with the engine? I thought i would just be blocking off some unwanted plugs and fitting a modified J3 chip? Am i in over my head?

While I am not familiar with the 95 Harnesses, I would guess your approach is workable. The work I do is to take a donor harness from an 86-93 5.0 Mustang (or equivalent) and rework it to be more simple, reliable and universal. I do this by removing some unnecessary wires and adding relays to provide better power to the remaining circuits. Someone not interested in doing all of this work to the harness can pretty much drop it in and it will work, but it would be a messier installation and probably not as reliable. So, no I don't think you're in over your head, I'm just using a more thorough method of simplifying the harness in my case. Good Luck!

Thanks mate. I was thinking about it last night and yeah realised that's what you were doing and i like it a lot, but with a motor transplant being a big enough job for me [it's been 30 yrs since the last one] i'm trying to keep this as simple as possible for now, hence your video freaked me out somewhat ;) I spoke with the dude that sold this thing to me today and he reckons i can strip away pretty much everything that doesn't either go into or leave the ECU? Sounds logical to me but i know just enough about this stuff to know that what i see as logical doesn't always mean it's how things are... You wouldn't happen to know by chance, or maybe direct me to somewhere that i could find out, the 2? wires that i need to supply power to at the ECU to give it life? All i know is one needs to be full time active and another one that comes on with the key, the code on this unit is 12KD if that helps but it's actually an AU job, as in 99 onwards to 2003, motor is supposedly from an NL Fairlane which is a bit earlier. Cheers.

ignorant question here, but what is the difference between a standalone and a wired in harness? thank you. great series.
