I'm an old school Ford fan too. I paid 15 quid for my first knackered old non-runner MK1 Escort back in 1985 and pushed it home with help from 3 of my mates, and I absolutely loved it. These new things are right up my street too because now I'm a bit older and have a bit more disposable income, I'm becoming more interested in high class Escorts 😉

I collect records. When an old tune gets repressed, the original record holds it's exact value. People will buy the repress as it's cheaper, but collectors will still pay big money for the original. Classic cars must be the same. 👊🏻🚗

Get ready for the price tag... Firstly you MUST be a member of an exclusive Boreham Motoring Club to get a sniff. Then the prices are unannounced but I reckon they will be in the few hundred grand each mark. They are ground up rebuilds in limited numbers so parts will be stupid expensive and repairs will be MFG only.

@ yes deffo the price of the kit cars are not cheap think there were a few company’s going still doing those used to be based on the sierra chassis even those are getting rarer now aswell mr2 chassis now used so I believe great channel enjoy this sort of tech chat on up and coming fords really not keen on the electric revolution but could be persuaded with maybe a Ford hyper rs electric brand if Ford are reading this I said it first 😎👍🏻

I agree with most of what you say but personally I would like to see companies like MST go further and build their cars with fully structural carbon fibre body shells. That would make the huge prices seem a lot more worthwhile by ending the need to constantly repair the ravages of corrosion with a bonus of inherently better safety.

I do wonder though, if a carbon fibre chassis would stay structurally sound for 50 years (like some steel chassis have on survivor cars) I notice that MST's new X-Pack Escort (with its carbon panels) still has a mostly steel inner bodyshell and chassis. Garry Bull plans to one day build a full carbon shell'd Mk1, but this would of course have a TVR chassis or a space framed chassis. 👍

Lets see what turns up.....I imagine this is just hype from a company using the Boreham "motorworks' promo to build Mk1 shells or full cars. Having seen the MST setup their cars are built from the ground up on jigs and panel by panel and really are superb bits of kit. For someone else to try and copy this process would be a huge challenge and I suspect it may be based on Chinese shells being turned into cars. Dont think Ford will have any involvement and what we've heard to date will just be promotion stuff.

Thing is the boreham motorworks is the only official car that can use the ford name, RSR, MST & even a Higgins shells are not going to be fords on v5’s - even though Higgins shells are having identifies swapped. RS2’s etc are worth £40k and more as that’s what people are prepared to pay. Look at jags, 911’s, healeys etc, they’re all old tech. Retro power will build you one but it’s not a ford on the v5, horses for courses.

It wont have Ford on the V5 even if they have given this Boreham company a licence, the reason being if it is listed as Ford they are a large manufacturer and it could not go the low volume route to get it UK registered. All this company will be allowed to do is fix Ford badges to the cars once they have gone through IVA.

I'm still wondering if these are just going to be 'factory' restomods based on existing escorts. I read a headline a month or two ago saying that Land Rover were building new old defenders. Fantastic I thought.... Turns out they were just building factory restomods based on customer supplied cars. If they are building new cars it'll have to be down the low volume route like kit car manufacturers to avoid the full safety regs of the IVAs, maybe that's why it's going through another business name. I think it's currently 500 or less per year.
