I noticed most comments about the +T including Valve springs. This isn't a small amount of trouble. I'm keen to do a very mild +T with the minimal possible changes and definitely not valve springs (got my Sprint for the big power fun). Does anyone know of a good basic kit aimed at a simple and cheap conversion?

My mates got a na ba xr6 a big ass whuan war whistle *without* a waste gate stock injectors and pump and fuel reg *no tuning* just how far back should I stand when he starts it lmfao because he's determined it's gonna be fine

@@mg74xbgt not like putting a 2 or 3 bar is going to help anyway with out a tune it would just lean it out more, you could probably do it ghetto with a map clamper and a fmu on the return line and it might take 5 psi but would have way too much timing and still be pretty lean, it’s way I love old stuff from the 80s with distributors, pull some time a good pump and a fmu to crank the fuel pressure on boost and you’re making fun cheap power

I have a BA XT with a NA BF+T, haltech plug n play ecu, 1000cc injectors, pump gears, valve springs, mls head gasket, pulsar 3584 supercore, 4”dump and 3.5” exhaust, 45mm hypergate, Mac valve and a stock NA BTR with a electric shift kit. Pushed 363rwkw. But it really doesn’t feel like 480hp at the wheels.

Thats very good power for an NA motor. Unleaded or e85? Probably doesn't feel like 360kw because it makes it all at 5800rpm.

@@BobbyMcBoost it’s on 98 and gets 300km to a tank if I’m lucky haha. The BTR is living on borrowed time, that’s why I had a spare in the boot when it went on the dyno 😂

Do your oil gears and head studs. Get that cooler upgraded and throw some more boost into it. Go to 14 pound and it should push easy 350+

on NA motor though those rods are toothpicks compared to turbo or gas

@@William14-l3k my BA is at 345, built btr and stock NA rods, turbo pistons, head studs, valve springs, pump gears, Walbro 460, Bosch 1150ccs, ANTZ battery relo. but it's all in the tune. NA is actually a really good substitute for a cheap bower build. I did my BA and it's fucking awesome. Best car I've ever owned. If a BA is capable of that, an FG NA should easily push into the low 400s. My mates NA+T FGX XR6 made more then a Stock FGX Sprint on Overboost with NA rods, it's all in the tune and upkeep, if you don't flood it 24/7 it'll keep up to you, if you track it 24/7, get billet rods

Got very similar setup in my bf fairlane. Road tuned only and e85 . How much torque did it make?

At that power level the NA zf should be fine.......we did a conversion on a NA fg and got 540rwhp at about 14psi BUT , that was using E85 so the fuel really helped. Then fried the zf !!! Atmo box has a few less clutches compared to the turbo one :(

@@jamesonboon990 We did it straight down to the sump where the atmo pan has the casting boss for the turbo drain. Drilled it with a right angle drill attachment and tapped it with a BSP taper tap. Used a leaf blower to pressurise the motor through the top oil filler , just to keep swarf out !!

Does anywhere in nsw or south-east qld do na+turbo conversions, i can only find wreckers that will sell engine and trans packages for the same price as buying a xr6 turbo

Yeah 10 psi is about it for a safe non fuss tune ! Try GFb 2 controller. I use one on my wife Terri Na to turbo conversion and works well in tuning the boost drop off!

@@BobbyMcBoost what did u guys do with the NA fuel reg ? I ground the pointy bits off mine ( I used the FG Na manifold) and used it as a plug . Then hooked up a turbo smart reg after the factory unit . Just anyone reading this . The Factory Na manifold which is quite fine up to 20 psi boost uses a totally different size fuel reg to the turbo models on the Fg Na rail . Little bit of info for anyone doing a conversion.

There is a drop in 'cap' you can buy to fit where the stock reg is which is real handy. blank that off and then run a return style 1:1 reg in the return fuel line. 👍

Depends which zf you get. Not all na zf's are the 21's. All depends on the year with later models getting them 👍

@@mulishapatrol im in the middle of turboing my BA Faimont Ghia, just put in f6 intercooler, transcooler and its pretty much ready to be bolted up, juust need to find a good tuner to get her running to spec! spent around 1000-1500 for most of the parts but you coulddd find them for more or less

I was quoted a little over 11k for a turbo motor plus box fitted and tuned drive in and out. This is at Athol Ford wreckers if anyone is interested.

These run a map sensor. Depends on the model. If you have an Fg n/a, you want a b series turbo one. If ba / bf you want fg

@@BobbyMcBoost yer buddy its a fgx im running a ba map on it but it runs like crap theres ment to be some setting changes in there that i can work out . turbo logic is on but yer cant sort and still stuck in lock down to get to dyno it

They are even higher compression motor and have weak rods.. so it isn't ideal.

@@BobbyMcBoost hey bobby, I’m currently on my P’s I come off them in October this year. I now own a 2010 falcon XR6 N/A as we are limited as usual to what we can drive. It does have the ZF too 😆, it’s done 140,000k’s I was looking at 4” exhaust for the time being until I can stick a turbo on it, but I just wanted to give the engine more flow as the turbos do. Would a 4” system fit in mine with a few modifications? Cat back that is

Both run the same ZF 6HP26, only difference really is the torque converter & mechtronics tuning. Wasn't until the FG-X N/A's + EcoBoost went to a china made clone ZF 6HP21.

@@ThomasFG it's not a Chinese clone. It's the 2nd gen 6hp21 which ZF makes overseas. It's all zfs design and just made overseas instead of Germany. Pretty much all their new boxes are made outside if Germany. Also it's not just torque converter and mechatronics different in NA and turbo boxes. The turbo box has more clutches and has a higher torque rating.

@@tacoreapermonir8725 Still.... German made over foreign made anyday. They're both a ZF 6HP26. Few extra clutches, torque converter & tuning doesn't make it a superior box. Marginally better yes, in terms of torque capacity... i doubt it would be much lower

Think it's like maybe 500nm in n/a form & give or take 650nm. Either way, still strong boxes regardless with mild work

@@ThomasFG yeah I think I've heard 400nm vs 600 but it all depends on the tuner and how it's driven. They will be fine with street driving and occasional pulls. Also cheap to replace if it blows up 5yrs later. The Chinese made ones are in so many cars. Haven't heard of any problems with them.

I love mine for a budget turbo, lots of good reviews around as well. There no garret but neither is the price.

GTX3584RS GEN 2 with internal wastegate is what I have with STD ba/bf manifold and I have a 4" manta dump but your standard factory dump pipe will bolt straight up.
