I washed my car yesterday, left it in the garage. When I started it this morning I had the exact same message. I was freaking out, I have a tow bar but haven’t had a trailer on it for nearly 3 years. Found this video on KZbin and bam problem fixed in 10 minutes. I couldn’t believe the amount of water and dirt when I unscrewed the cover, it ran all down my arm but because I was on my back under the car I couldn’t get out of the way quick enough 😂. Thanks for the vid. Have seen this 1000 times why do they make these things so cheap in such a bad enviroment. Years ago I had U-haul install a hitch and the mechanic said there was a lifetime warranty on the hitch for another fee (if forgetting how much) so I said sure its worth it. on the way out I said "I'm surprised you guys do the warranty because the wiring always is a problem". He hesitated and said,... "oh this doesn't cover the wiring just the hitch" (like I asked the forbidden question). So I asked what ever goes wrong with the hitch, its solid steel. He said "you know if it rusts out welds fail. things like that". Well, I had already paid for it and convinced myself perhaps it may have some use. Of course 2 years later I was rewiring and replacing the connector which (as I said Has No warranty) People take heed. You would think it is rocket science. Water, Salt, corrosion, Hello folks... = Repeat Business. Ah Whatever live a learn. Ivan tell us about your job. Hopefully you are liking it. be safe!

Extended air nozzles are available at HF. I buy them, remove the valve and bore out the passages to get some real air flow. Drill holes in a row down the tube, Crimp the end closed and you have a right angle nozzle to clear crud out of the radiator/condenser cores.

We had that car a few years ago. Every month there was a recall for something. Water pump started to leak and there was a update that needed to be downloaded but all that took almost four weeks. The car was not even a few years old. The touch screen radio would stop working when you turn it on. Sometimes turning off car and open and close the door would let modules go to sleep, it would start working but that was not always the fix. Got rid of that car and bought a Honda CRV lo! great video sharing the issues with all the bells and whistles on a car. Me personally to much shit to go wrong and a lot of cheap built items. Fantastic videos and a great variety of problem vehicles.

Here in the UK it is quite a serious to even touch your mobile phone whilst driving. Why? Because it causes the driver to become distracted from what he should be doing. So why are modern cars just crammed full of stuff that takes your mind of the job in hand - namely concentrating on the road ahead. !0 years ago you would just get a light on the dash alerting you to a problem, now you get annoying pop-up's you have to read. If you wanted to change the heat setting or radio volume, all you had to do was find the button and switch with your fingers, no need at all to take your eyes off the road. Now t's all touch screen which requires you to take your eyes off the road. Ummm........ Now i see why they are building collision avoidance systems in to new cars - so you can change the radio station or adjust the heater settings without causing an accident!

I see some new cars that have screens larger than my laptop screen. Then I see these videos of new cars that you need to use the touch screen to get anything to work. I dislike my phone because it is a touch screen only and I have to look at it to use it. I miss my old sidekick phone that I can type a paragraph without once ever looking at the phone. There is such a thing as tactile feedback. These cars, how can you use a touch screen while driving when people can't even use their phones while walking without problems.

I hear ya - every time I get in my '07 Silverado with the key in the ignition, I want to take a baseball bat to the thing. That truck has THE most ANNOYING key-in warning chime I have EVER heard! It's at volume 10 too! GRRR ... 🤬 Was just riding around with my buddy today in his '17 F-250. Friggin thing has like 8 cameras on it, massaging & air conditioned AND heated seats, a 5 foot moonroof, and a giant tablet as part of the dash that controls everything, plus shows all the camera angles with a computer generated overhead view. Thing is absolutely insane. He'll probably trade it in 3 years, so lucky me, LOL! WAY too much electronics. Give me a car with heat, A/C, and a radio, and I'm good! Just wait until the '15-'18 cars are 12 years old. Oohhhh booooy are we going to be in for some workload!!
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
The ONLY thing I want my car to beep at me for is if I forgot to turn off the headlights. THAT'S IT! Older cars are very easy to modify to get rid of the seatbelt and key-in dingers, as well as disabling the ABS and not having a Christmas tree dash. But new cars are getting annoyingly "hack-proof" lol
@SmittySmithsonite6 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%! I put piezo buzzers in all my older cars as a headlight warning - one wire to the wiper fuse (or other switched hot), other wire to the marker lamp fuse. Plenty loud enough even sitting under the fuse cover. These days I've become used to auto headlights, and when I get in my older vehicles, I always leave the headlights on (except the Grand Marquis - that has a factory warning). That little buzzer has saved many dead batteries over the years. Someone told me there's a wire in the instrument cluster of my Silverado that I can cut to eliminate the BINGing. I have it written down somewhere .. of course, I can't remember where ...

Whom ever is maintaining those vehicles is NOT doing a good job. I had simular problems with my Trailblazer, only it was the trailer lights flashing on and off. The trailer lights were brand new so I suspected the greenys in the hitch plug. That kind comes apart and I was correct, the wires were green as could be. I cleaned them up and siliconed the snot out of them. Why cant they do that in the factory? Mine was a factory GM plug too.

One of the things that surprised me in our Subaru repair manual is their advice to never put silicone around electrical connectors. Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics You say that… But when some lawyers kid is flying down the aisle of a shopping center and you manage to scrape the side of the car, things can get interesting… Kid admits fault for driving like an idiot, insurance info is exchanged, and you go about your day only to get a call from the police asking for you to meet them and the other party involved. You arrive to find lawyer dad and kid are there with a cop waiting. Other party alleged that you caused damage to a different part of the kids car. You get lucky because the truck you were driving has a higher bumper height than the damage lawyer says you did, and cop sides with you as not causing the damage. The insurance adjuster comes out at a later date to measure the height of your bumper vs the height they measured on the damage to the kids car. Again you are lucky because the damage could not have been caused by your trucks bumper. Guess what? Even though the adjuster sides with you, the kid is still getting a payout for ALL the damage because the insurance company things it’s just cheaper to pay it than fighting for only the actual damage from this accident. ^That actually happened to a family member a few years ago, and that’s why I REALLY appreciate the blind spot with cross traffic alert feature. Now, if your bumper lined up with the other damage, you’d probably be considered at fault for that too. Wouldn’t you rather not have to deal with all that BS to begin with?

Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics Good deal Ivan! A steady paycheck and a retirement plan means a lot to a young man! I bet it made Mama happy too. Now all we need is a little Ivan or Two!

Did you water proof the connector where the 3 wires go into the connector rear? If you did good, if not you better :-) Have fun driving in NYC, get a rope :-)

All this technology driver aid stuff! Let’s take the responsibility away from the driver. I think it’s a sign I’m getting old!!! I turn all that crap off if I can. I think cars have some important or beneficial features but removing the driver is like having to stop for pedestrians who have he right of way and step in front of a moving car without looking. Redundancy is needed in this not my fault society!

Apparently, new car buyers look for more software in the car than anything these days. Of course, that software runs some embedded electronics. And it all comes to naught because they couldn't spring for a watertight cap on the trailer lights connector. How can you see anything on a dark night with all that light from the dash in your face?

I tried to dim the dash, but it is too smart and is still too bright in the daytime lol
