Nicely done! I just pulled the C6 out of my 74 F100 and am in the process of tearing it down to rebuild it.

Thank you! Have you rebuild a C6 before? Thought about giving it a try but I’m actually going to switch the truck to a 4 speed

I’m glad it helped, thank you for watching! Got everything back together?
@douglaselser2440 Жыл бұрын
@@AJsGarage I did indeed. Thanks for asking. This was only part of the problem though...pulled the tailshaft cover and the governor was completely disconnected!

Went in easy on the valve body because u didn't do micrometer measurements or even explain it lol nobody has a shifting c6 after this smart ass

When you dropped the bolt while installing the valve body- I laughed and said, that’s me

Usually I won’t leave stuff like that in the final edit but maybe I’ll start putting them together at the end of each video

There is an easy way to keep from making a mess by using a cheap manual transfer pump. They come with long hoses that will fit in the fill tube. Shove it to the bottom and stick the other end in a jug and start pumping. there will still be some fluid left in the pan but if you're careful, no mess.
@AJsGarage7 ай бұрын
I never thought of that, it’s a good way to get most of the fluid out. The drain plug makes it a lot easier now. Thank you for watching!

Lol😅😅😅when u ask wich way should the shift lever actually be pointed when installing 😂😂 or anyother specific valve body questions 😅

Where did your get the o-ring and. Washer for the shifter? I have the pan gasket and filter gasket, but I can’t seem to find the parts you installed in this video. TIA

I found them on eBay, not sure of the part number but the one I got came with a rear seal also. I believe I just searched C6 shifter shaft seal and it should come up. Thank you for watching!

I can't seem to find those parts too. You mentioned EBAY but no luck

many people on here might know about this but I always had leaks on my transmission pan gasket especially on some of these trucks if it had a big block they had the motor leaning backwards I used a lube locker transmission pan seal. that was the best seal that I've ever used on anything and I will use them for life from now on whether it be timing cover oil pan valve cover transmission pan they even give you the torque sequence on the box for the c4 C6 I just changed my fluid and my gasket last night love that gasket it's called a lube locker check it out.
@AJsGarage2 жыл бұрын
Ill have to check it out. I have actually used lube locker before, they make great stuff. I have a lube locker gasket on the differential in each truck seals up great and no leaks.

Torque the FILTER bolts 40 to 60 INCH pounds and the PAN 12 to 16 FOOT pounds (95 INCH pounds) if it is a factory steel type..Torque the valve body to the case 95 to 125 INCH pounds..These numbers are out the 1972 Ford Overhaul manual for the C6..I have found it best to Torque the PAN to 10 foot pounds and then RETORQUE to 12 foot pounds AFTER THE TRAMSMISSION WARMS UP. .
@AJsGarage3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the information. Definitely going to go back and torque everything down to the proper amount. Especially the pan. I plan on changing it out.

Where do you get your music for your channel. Ive been getting my royalty free from a site. Just wondering if you pay or if its free. Ive been using Adobe Rush to edit but the music selection is not very good.

The music I use is already on my MacBook. In IMovie, I’ve been trying to figure out how to use something different. There’s some good little clips but sometimes I’m editing video clips to fit the music length.

Can’t remember why I didn’t get a chance to record it but use some ATF so the seal and surface aren’t dry. It’s a cramped space so I just tapped it very lightly all the way around until it seated. If I had to do it again I’d get a small block of wood to apply even pressure
