Ford don't want to sell too many of them, because they make a loss on them. The dealership don't want to sell them either, because of reduced servicing income. This is having the intended effect.

Sure. How many massively expensive recalls has the Mach--E had? Ford has already lost their shirt on these things. The Smoking Tire had a Mach-E for 2 years and said that overall is was quite a bit better than a Tesla.

I have a Model Y and I loved the look of the Mach E. Checked it out at the dealership and what a HUGE disappointment. Price is astronomical and it doesn’t matter what the price is when you order. It is determined when it arrives at the dealership. Interior looked cheap asf. No room or storage. I felt cramped inside.

The Mach E might have passed muster, but its problem is the giant in the room. Compared to the MY, the Mach E is a POS.

You, I studied Marketing for diploma from the British Institute of Marketing. Aged 18. After four months I replaced the tutor. I was offered jobs that paid six times my wage. My favourite book was, How to get a thousand dollars of promotion for ten. 1970s American car companies began to advertise the shortcomings of others. After three years, that was found to enhance their competitors sales. We old buggers can still help.

From my point of view, when someone does that, I'm actually going to check the claims. So they are in fact inciting me to go check the competition that I would potentially would have ignored otherwise. Also, if you compare yourself to something else, it usually means that the other is the benchmark and therefore worth checking.

...and see Sandy Munro disassembling the Mach-E: A bunch of bin parts, a ton of unnecessary parts, lower efficiency motor(s) and batteries, andthe list goes on... Looks like old guard engineering of the past. I'd like to see better competition from Ford and the others but they're late to the party, hope they'll wake up sooner than later...

That removes most of the price advantage the Mach-E Select has over the Model Y SR. Interesting that the Model Y across the lineup gives you better range and higher top speed using less to equal HP powered by a smaller battery plus can charge at almost double the speed. Add to that the better safety sure makes it seem like Ford struck out big time with the Mach-E. I had to pause the chart for a moment to digest what it was saying and the questionable prices are the only thing that might get someone to bite if that is all that they look at without verifying their validity. Best!

Before leasing my TM3, i went to Lexus to try the IS350, it was fun but when i tried the TM3, i was instantly conquered! Not to mention i save at least 300$ in gas every month (25 000 annually), i drive a TM3 for almost the price of a Corolla!!! And i loved ordering the Tesla directly on the app, i've always been so pissed off going to dealers!

Where ford was wrong was saying myp is 3.5 to 60 its 3.7 without rollout with its 3.5. And mme is 3.5 without rollout but for 5 seconds you get full power

This is where price comparisons fall apart and deeper dives are necessary. You can drop the price for a piece of crap to be equal to the price of something that is 10x better but if you don't see beyond price, you're setting yourself up to make incomplete/improper assessments.

One thing I constantly see (and the Ford dealer chart here is nothing new) - they are stating power [KW] as Horsepower [HP]. For example. the declared net power of a Model Y Dual Motor is 378KW - this is NOT 378 horsepower. To convert, you need to multiply KW by 1.341 to get mechanical horsepower. A model Y AWD in this case has 507HP. As does the AWD Mustang. A little ironic that the numbers are the same but let's not add more wrongness to the wrongness....

As a long time S owner, my input to this is that I've driven a Mach E and was stunned at how good a car this is. The Tesla has better motors and is overall better developed as an EV, but the Mach is better looking and rides better. If Ford adds an LFP pack and a heat pump in the next gen, that might be my next car if Tesla removes the turn signal stalk from the S or Y.

Weird comment coming from an S owner. You might be comparing a stale super old S. My new S rides amazing, plus you can't compare the performance and range. And let's not get into charging network, software, OTA, FSD, infotainment... Tesla has a lot more things better than just motors, but I guess I am just a deluded fanboy...

​@@lostwax8151 Don''t knock it until you drive it. My 2019 is my second S (2014) and I'm due for another next year. I had my brother in law's Mach E for a week while my S was having some collision work attended to, and i was stunned at how buttoned up this car is. I have ZERO interest in FSD and I frankly hate all infotainment and tablet/voice based control systems, including the Mach's. If Tesla offered a suite of manual controls for most functions, I would gladly pay for that option on my 2025 and i think a lot of people who actually drive their cars would do the same. There's a reason why my Beechcraft has a switch, control, and gauge for every single function. Back to the Mach - no, it's not nearly as fast as the S but other than the first two years I had my '14, I don't burn through tires anymore, but the Mach is still faster than anyone needs (0-60 low 4s) and although I haven't seen one yet, I understand that now the Mach E has access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

@@ronblack7870 Near as I can tell, it affected 2021/22 and the problem was fixed with a recall. I think the "limit acceleration" was to prevent contactor overheating until it was replaced.

The S will just wipe the ass of the Mach E, not in the same league at all! You should see Sandy Munro disassembling the Mach-E, it's a joke... I wish Ford could do better than that, it's a first shot at it, hope they'll understand a thing or two on the engineering level, for now it's not impressive at all...

I have been on the lookout for an EV the past 4 years, I would get the Tesla model Y if they would make one that has an information center in front of the steering wheel and some physical knobs to control a/c, etc. I really hate touch screens! Will likely have to settle for the Mach-e or Chevy Equinox if they ever get around to making them.

So you haven't you tried it. After a few days I found out you don't need all those buttons. The only thing I adjust is the temperature. And navigation. Everything is set by my profile. Now I do have the sexy for specific things like thank you flash and disable child safety lock for 15 seconds and pops the door. And pop right front door and fsd nag.

@@Gunter_Custom Quite often I have to swipe my phone or tablet more than once to get it to respond. When this happens on a touch screen on your car, I believe it will be distracting and potentially dangerous since you likely will have your eyes off the road more often. So yes, in favor of safety I would get a Mach-e over a Tesla. Besides, the closest Tesla repair shop to me is over 100 miles.

@@ValConB one you need a better phone. Two with your profile set there not all doing all that touching on the touch screen while your Before you buy something else . Go to a super charger and talk to some Tesla owners someone will let you check out the touch screen so you make a good decision . Because if you think there is a reason why Tesla is one of the best selling EVs. Now I understand the service center is 2 hours away. But with owning two Tesla it's not a big deal . Back 22 after an accident the body shop could fix my radar. So while on vacation in San Diego I stopped at a service center and they fixed it in two hours. Second issue last year November my seat would adjust with my easy entry. My Seat wasn't sliding. Software glitch. They did an update . Now I'm my wife's car . I had a cracked windshield safe lite could have done it but had Tesla do it the go me in in two days and two week ago I took my wife car to the shop because I was getting a error for the trailer plug fault. Easy fix a plug was not plugged in . That is all the problem in 27k miles and 25k. I have more issues in my Subaru.. now if you made it this far. Real question ? What is all that you think you need to do on the touch screen while driving beside navigation . I really want to know some people all seem to use that reason without having tried it .

I traded my Tesla MY LR for a Mach E GTPE. Love the Mach E over Minimalist and plain interior MY. Yeah Better value but I feel I get a real car with the ford.

Glad to hear it. Buy what you like. Stats are one thing, but it's more important to enjoy the car you drive. I'm thankful you were keen to stick with an EV, even if though is only a drop in the bucket.

It has been "advertised" that Ford dealers and many other dealers DO NOT want to sell EV cars or trucks. Maybe this is their way of making that happen in a back handed way. If anyone is interested in an EV or any other car - set up a spreadsheet (Excel, or by hand) with facts you want to see and do your own comparison.

You can compare EV's to EV's as much as you Like but there is nothing ever close to Tesla when it comes to Safety! As for Autonomous comparisons...there isn't any.

I want to like the Mach-E but it just looks too damn ugly to me. I get the Model Y ain't winning any beauty pageants but it still looks cleaner and better to me. I hope the next gen Ford electric SUV really brings a new and fresh design and doesn't try to piggy back on brands that should not be associated with electric drivetrains.

Not dealing with stealer dbaggery has got to be worth $5000 in itself, just in terms of your shower fees needed after the experience. In real $$$ terms, one of these vile salesmen is probably gonna fleece you for much much more than $5k over MSRP.

The Mach-E has a drivers information display, so you can actually safely see your speed while driving, it has buttons for key functions so you can operate them without taking your eyes off the road, it has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto so you can still use your fancy digital car long after the OEM has stopped providing SW updates, and it has actually comfortable seats (which can be subjective). Hands down the win goes to the Mach-E over any Tesla for me. Test drove both last year, as well as some others, while looking for a second EV. Loved the Mach-E, but couldn’t get the long range version in time, so ended up picking up a second Bolt EV used to hold us over until the next generation of EV’s comes out. Specs aren’t everything. Sometimes real world usability trumps spec sheets, otherwise no one would ever buy a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.

I've found that keeping ones eyes level and looking to the upper left corner of the Tesla display screen for the speed number display actually keeps your peripheral vision on the road ahead. Looking downward for the speed display below the steering wheel actually causes your eyes to be taken off of the road ahead. Having lots of buttons also takes your eyes off of the road, even if temporarily. Tesla has a single button on the steering wheel which can be used by feel and it controls many functions by voice for making phone calls, HVAC heat and cooling, seat and wheel steering temp, fan speed, music, navigation, speed, etc. The voice recognition is excellent.

@@dvader3263 I have driven vehicles with center stack speedometers and have heard the peripheral vision myth before. It’s simply not true. You can always see better in the direction you are looking than you can to the side despite the fact that peripheral vision stretches further to the sides. This fact is exacerbated further for those wearing progressive glasses. Lots of buttons can be distracting, I agree. However, the most frequently used features (HVAC, Audio, drive modes, lights, maybe a few others) need to be physical, and with a limited set of physical buttons, they can be manipulated easily without looking, something that can never be done on a touch display. Single controls that perform too many (more than one) function are horrid design in every environment in which they occur. Putting them in a car is possibly the worst of all, as unlike information that’s out of view requiring you to take your eyes off the road, a multifunction control requires you to take your mind off the road in order to figure out how to get the control to get the response you want. I’m sorry, but when operating a deadly weapon, and surrounded by other doing likewise who may or may not be paying attention, I prefer to pay attention to the road. I’ll say that voice control is a matter of taste and circumstance. It’s getting better all the time. I personally don’t like it for similar reasons to the multifunction control, it makes you have to think about something other than driving. Depending on where or when you’re driving the consequences of that can vary considerably. There are too many circumstances where it doesn’t work due to background noise and other factors. For some people, like my wife, it just mostly doesn’t work. Doesn’t matter if it’s Google, Microsoft, Apple, Tesla, or automated phone systems, none of them respond in an useful way to her voice despite the fact that she speaks very clearly and with a relatively generic American accent. Basically it’s unreliable, extremely so for some people, and requires substantially more time and effort than just pushing a button.

I beg to differ. I think it was nice of the Ford sales/marketing person to even show enough interest in the topic to make a such a graphic. Also, some folks love the Ford Mustang Mach E and don't like Tesla so Viva La Difference.

Sam, don't fight the Chinese...I'm married to one. They are "dynamic"! Steer clear and learn! eg. Farang go to a market and ask "How much?" Wife asks "Where did you buy it?" She's already looking at suppliers. They're so far ahead...and they're more fun.

That's so dumb,.. surely the dealer could see that ONLY they beat the lowest performing Tesla in four specs, the GT in ONE acceleration spec, the GT&AWD in two range specs, and the Select in one price spec. (I'm not counting the HP specs as the poor/level acceleration specs show that was horses needed to compensate for their crap efficiency.)

Ford cars are loser but going to get better once they learn how to make an EV car. Tesla has gone thru years of success and failures. In time Ford will improve but Tesla will improve also and again Tesla will be better value than Ford.

The ford actually does better than what this person makes it seem. At least ford doesn’t lie about their specs unlike Hyundai with their warranties and Tesla with their promises.
