Thanks for a great video. My heating never gets hot and coolant level is fine its been like this since we got the car. would you suggest the thermostat housing needs replacing.

I would suggest that the thermostat has failed open. So make you that comes with the housing.

What would be the approximate cost for such a repair? I’m 99% certain this is the issue on my car which is in warranty however ford keeps the car a week, I want to know if I’m better off repairing it independently

It will always be much cheaper at an independent garage, even if they use dealer parts.

Great video. Thanks for uploading. I'm now subscribed. I'm planning to follow this soon. My engine coolant never gets up to 4 out of 8 in the indicator bar on the dash, so I'm pretty sure the thermostat is stuck open. In this case, is it enough just to replace the thermostat and gasket, or would you recommend changing the housing too at the same time?

Thanks for your comment and subscribing. New content uploaded every week pretty much! If I was honest i would just change the housing with the thermostat.

I have to keep on topping up my coolant every so often. I’ve checked everywhere and can’t see signs of a leak. How did you know the thermostat was leaking coolant? Can you see it or is it just a case of you only know when you take the whole thing off and inspect……

I used a coolant leakage tester. It puts pressure in cooling system, then you see the leak.
