Investigation of fault code P132B leads to the discovery that the Fiesta Eco boost was making no boost. Now it's fixed and we have lots of boost.
With a bit of basic fault finding the problem was found to be the wastegate was not fully closed!

I just had a similar issue with my 2.2D X-Type over the weekend. I was just heading off across the country to go camping and the engine started shuddering slightly around 1900rpm, it was like the car didn't want to go over this unless I really sank the boot. I almost turned back, but decided to carry on because I figured it was some kind of vacuum/turbo issue, and that it (hopefully) wouldn't leave me stuck in the middle of nowhere. So I crossed my fingers and carried on. All was good, and I was taking it easy, but on the way home I sank the boot and immediately got a "Gearbox Fault" (Jaguar/Ford speak for a turbo problem!) and and the same P132B, and it went into limp mode. So I just cleared the codes with the iCarsoft so that I didn't have to drive home at 70kph. But the problem with mine turned out to be the intercooler hose, it had a little crack in it and so it was leaking air and not holding vacuum.

Handy to have the icarsoft with you. I think the code covers a wide range of issue for low boost. Glad you fixed it and avioded a garage bill.

Hi mate did you shorting the rod on the actuator to make it smaller?? I believe ours has been maxed out to make the length of the rod longer for some reason

Great video. Sane car I get a p2187 error code only when its hot outside and I use the aircon car will randomly go into limp mode. Driving me nuts.

I haven't had that scenario before. The code is to do with a lean mixture. Probably made worse with the extra load of the air con being on. Lean mixture could be too much air such as vac leak or too little fuel such as blocked or dirty injectors. Other than this does it drive OK?

Hi. I had P0132b and changed the vaccum pump valve, it was damaged inside and very muggy,dirty, just £8 from ebay. Do you know what can cause code P0532? Also what's the name for the part you took out to clean it? Great video.

It's called a turbo vaccum. Boost solenoid. P0532 is to do with an air con fault. I don't know much about ac but first point to check is does it have enough gas. Does it blow super cold? If not could be low on gas.

Got a similar issue and going to attempt to adjust the waste gate. However, the video didn’t show this. Is it just a locking nut that loosens off and then screw the rod in to increase the pull when it’s pulled back when needed? If that makes any sense 😂

Hi. I'm having the same problem with my 1.0 ecoboost and thinking of fixing it myself. How did you set the actuator to right lenght? Do you need a diagnostic tool to see the values? Thanks for the video.

No you don't need a tool to set. I put a hose direct from vac pump to turbo actuator then adjustes until the value was fully closed. You can also suck in the pipe tor the actuator to see if it will fully close.

Thanks for the response. I managed to do it today. I hope I didn't bend the actuator rod because the nut was really tight. During my test drive it pulled nicely from 60mph to 100mph in 6th gear. I also accidentally broke the coolant line and it was a mess 😅 We'll see how long the 165 000 miles driven ecoboost will hold up.

@Guse02 yes nut was very stiff on ours also. I also broke the stupid rigid hose. A very bad design.

I adjusted the wastegate actuator arm as it wasn't fully closing and creating boost.

i have a ford focus, i think 2016. where i have rebuilt, but i have this funny lisslt plastic or PVC tube that i thnk is meant to go into the engien, just under the tappard cover, i thinki its to prevent an excess of oil escaping into the air manifold. Do you have any idea or avle to assist me in locating where it is mean to go please? i can send my email if it would help?

There is a small rigid plastice pipe that goes from the coolant header tank to rhs of the engine on the cylinder head. Is this what you are describing.?

Sorry no. I don't have the torque multiplier you need to replace the crank pulley.

Nice diagnostic video, subbed, of course it is the turbo why there is no vacuum at the inlet, not the fuel injection - I guess you misspoke! 👊

@@vintagesteelgarage Hi mate my nephew has a fiesta 17 plate 57k on the clock he drove 5 miles with oil light on the top end of engine is tapping away do you think it can be saved ? I was thinking about dropping the oil pan cleaning the oil pump filter and look at the oil pump belt aswell cheers

@Peter-sm8bj its worth a try. Take sump off and drop off the rod ends and check the shells. If it starved the top end of oil it might also have damaged the turbo.

@@vintagesteelgarage Ok thanks mate i tested the turbo tonight its spinning away fine and i put a screwdriver on top of the top turbo to listen and theres no strange noises but when i did that on the rocker cover engine is tapping away but thats as far as i am going to take it Theres no chance am going to attempt changing timing belt i have not done one before 🤣 I cant believe how rotten them ecoboom engines are i am glad i fixed my non runner focus ecoboom though as it cost me £1200 for that car

@@Peter-sm8bj the tapping on the rocker cover could be the fuel pump they are a bit tappy and ots normal.

This was intermittent also. As in it reset after turning off and on.

Then you cut out the part explaining it after the pull

@@chizlesnape1953 the actuator is threaded and can be adjust in length so is was shortened to have the valve just open with no vaccum present. So when the full vaccumm was applied the valve was fully closed. Before it was holding open slightly and losing boost.

@@vintagesteelgarageHi I followed you in a previous vid of you changing the turbo cassette, as my turbo oil return pipe the seal went so I had to replace the turbo cassette. But I’m having the same problem with the actuator as it may be out of line when I put the turbo back in. Can you please tell me if you adjusted the actuator with the turbo in or out, if in how the hell did you do it?

@360EZee I did it with the turbo in place. I recall having to undo the 2 nuts holding the actuator in place and then pulling it all to the side to undo the locking nut t on the actuator spindle

How much did the engine job cost ??

It cost about £1800 all on with a new 3 piece clutch and new turbo. Obviously my labour was free

@@allenharris9212 yes it's lucky I like working on cars saved me a fortune over the years. It's meant my daughter got a good car with fresh engine and clutch for a lot less that any ticking time bomb on a forecourt

The actuator wasn't fault needed adjusting it was holding the wastegate open so not making boost

Yes thinks it's a common code for low boost. Also volvo and ford do share a few things
