Sebastian, your aesthetic assesment of the Ford Ecosport sucks. Not everyone needs a car that seems out of a sport racing, actually I think the Ecosport is so cute، it looks like a character out of angry birds or sonic games. The H-RV? It has no personality at all, this is what I dislike about the Honda cars in general.

These two guys are obviously Honda fans. Technically, the Ford has been out since 2003 and I’m pretty sure the Honda hasn’t. Also, Jeep has a swing gate as well and I haven’t seen anyone complaining about that. Lastly, when he sat in the second seat he had the front seat all the way back and reclined the front seat as well. Honda makes a good CVT, but it’s still a CVT.

The Fiesta is ok, if you didn't suffer the years of transmissions issues, the model we tested had them and it was a horrible driving experience. We purchesed an Ecosport because we wanted something like an Escape, but a little smaller, a little cheaper and a little more modern with it's tech, it serves our needs perfectly. Tech like the built in 120v outlet, upgraded audio, lighted usb, I like the raised tablet feel of the infotainment and the ambient lighting. It has all the cargo space we need ad we dont have to worry about passengers often but I fit back there fine long as the seat isn't all the way back, both leg and head room.

that black portion on the ford's hood is supposed to reduce glare...some offroad vehicles have a matte strip on the hood for this reason

There is no way that the EcoSport will only get 21 mpg. Did they bother to press the reset button before testing? There are 2 reasons why the EcoSport's mileage is not the greatest: 1) AWD effects mileage compared to FWD, 2) EcoSport has a traditional torque converter transmission, which is much more reliable than a CVT or DCT, but mileage and acceleration are worse. The EcoSport is not a dog or ugly. The styling does not resemble a Ford Edge. EcoSport actually resembles a shrunken down 2013-2019 Ford Escape.

I like the HR-V, but I don't like CVT transmissions. They lost me when they dropped the manual transmission. If they put in a real automatic transmission, with gears in it, then I may consider it.

@@LordWinter Fiesta is a cheap economy hatchback. Cross overs are far more comfortable and practical. That's why most car companies are seeing sales dropping on their sedans. You can fit shit a lot easier in an ecosport or HRV than a fiesta.

@@jakjakez7874 Not much more than most of the competition. Depends what you buy. CRV is higher than the escape, but the escape is higher in price than an equinox if I'm right. Then insurance will be lower on a Ford compared to a Honda or VW. At the end, it will balance out.

I rented an EcoSport and was shocked at how bad the fuel economy was for such a small 4 cylinder car. At 75 mph I got only 22 mpg. My Grand Cherokee gets 28 mpg with a V6 and 2000 lbs more weight.

Gf used to have a 2019 Ecosport and that thing was so under powered. That thing would not go past 55mph on a steep hill. She traded it in for a 2019 HR-V.. Total difference. It accelerates much quicker when merging on the highway and doesn't struggle one bit up steep hills.

@@gigi9467 The Honda Fit LX in Canada is about C$22k. HRV is about C$27k. Both include destination fees. With the HRV, you're getting AWD and about 10 more inches of room inside. I don't think that justifies a C$5k gap, but it's way better than spending $10k on chains

The black decal on the eco ford is a despair attempt to detract from the terrible proportions of the compact CUV. If there is one reason to purchase such a small vehicle you’d expect the fuel efficiency to be the payoff. Ford must have tried really hard to get such poor numbers from such a trim package. The Fiesta was more successful (expect from that auto transmission) than an Eco Sport will every be as its replacement or even as a CUV. With the Honda priced around the same, there is no question which is better.
