Ford Edge front grill emblem replacement

Thanks so much. I couldn't have done this without you. I am still mystified by my discovery that our 2012 Ford Edge emblem was suddenly and totally colorless. The emblems are 3.5" x 9" for those who have asked about their size. They are easy to find on Amazon. Remember to push the bottom tabs down (a lot more effort when you are in your 70's) . Push up on the top tab. It was easier for me to release the upper tab after releasing the left and right bottom tabs. We are all grateful for this youtube video.

I forgot to add that I used a long screwdriver and pressed downward on the bottom 2 prongs. Then I lifted the emblem upward.

Thanks so much my friend bit worked just like you said. I used a rubber mallet to engage the snaps when I put the emblem back on the grille. This is was the most useful video I’ve seen.

I really have to thank you, brother! You saved me a whole heap of hassle! I have a 2011 Edge and almost went with the butter knife video but luckily came across yours. Got a new emblem on ebay for about 8 bucks and installed it in about 15 minutes. Great vid. Thanks again!

Thank you! Was doing some damage with a screw driver then watched this and realized how easy it is. Obviously, the screws and bolts are right there and you can kind of see the clips inside - but then you get to thinking that the project always ends up being bigger than expected. Not in this case. I appreciate it!

Ford should be ashamed there are this many people who have had to replace the emblem on the Edge. I've been driving Fords for 35 years and have never seen this issue so bad on one model. They should fix these for free!

Thanks - very helpful. I also have a 2012 Edge. The clips were a little stubborn to pry, and I was afraid of breaking them, but eventually the emblem popped out. It also took some pushing to get the clips to engage when putting the emblem back on, but finally they clipped into place. The new emblem looks 100% better.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2013 Edge. I'm very glad I watched this first. Even before I placed my order on Amazon. Everything went well but as others have found the clips were difficult. Persistence pays off. Just go slowly and carefully. You don't want to f*** these up because they're on the "bezel" that goes back in the grille. God knows what Ford would want for one of those. FYI, after watching several videos along with this one I decided to give this a shot. The "GREAT" thing is that it is not necessary to remove the top panels! You can access through the hood latch spot with a long screw diver. Just push down on one of the clips then with a smaller screw driver from the outside edge of the emblem pry it out from the spot which lines up with the one you are pushing down on the inside. Wallah! Pops right out. Then back the plastic nuts on the back pins out, replace the badge and put the plastic nuts back on the pins. Push emblem assembly back in and you're done! I waited for months to try this and now I'm wondering why. Pass this on.

Just changed one today. The three push tabs are a bear to release and opted to undo and reinstall the 10mm speed nuts on the two studs.

Great video. On my 2014 removing the emblem is a little different. You have to remove the nuts from behind the grill before. Otherwise the emblem will never come out or you end up breaking something. After that it's all clock work. My grill doesn't have those port holes where the nuts and bolts sit.

Same here on this 2011 Edge. Speed nuts were holding the emblem AND the retainer to the grille. Nuts had to be removed BEFORE pressing on the clips to remove.

Did you ever do the Back Emblem? I have looked at mine just trying to figure it out and I just don't see an easy access point. I am thinking it may be easier to just take the whole Chrome trim piece off. But again there is nothing on it anywhere. FORD the hording dragon of automobiles.

I have seen people do it. As long as you strip it, deglaze it, and primer it properly you can. You can use cheap paint either. It has to be epoxy level hard, then you have to coat it. It's cheaper to buy a custom one.. LOL

I did this and didn't even remove the holder, I just backed the nuts off of the plastic posts (don't drop them) and put the new emblem on, pushed the nuts back on and tightened with a socket..again, don't drop them lol

Didn't work for me at all. There is no way to get my hands in there and budge those clips at all. You seemed to skip that on the video.

If you are having issues with getting your hand down there you can use a long handle screwdriver or socket extension bar. All you have to do is get one side to unclip. I will tell you that they are hard and depending on the age, they can be brittle. You want to push down and back. Outside of that you are pretty much forced into losing the grill more.

@@bluebugs2067 OK, I got it loose finally. I had absolutely no luck pressing the 3 tabs and pushing out. What I finally did was loosen the two little nuts on the back of the plate and everything loosened up and then I was able to simply press the tabs and push. I have a 2013 Ford Edge. Thank-you
