2006 mazda tribute v6 4x4, issue is multi cylinder misfire even after all cop's and plugs replaced along with upper intake gaskets. Problem is rough idle intermittently and sputtering / misfiring at high rpm's (check engine light flashes and trans hangs onto current gear). I've also cleaned the PCM's grounding connector, replaced its relay, checked for damaged harnesses but still have the issue.

it looks hard but it took me 30 min to remove, replace all 6 coils and put it back. really simple job
@ThecardoctorTV8 жыл бұрын
+Gabriel Aquino wow, that's impressive. Since the job pays about three hours for a journeyman mechanic to do it you are surely gifted! It usually takes me 2hr + to do this job. Never seen anyone even able to R&R the plenum that quickly. Good job.

maybe because Ive done it a couple of times.

That must be the reason. I have only been doing this for a little over 25 years. I still have a lot to learn.

My vids are geared toward helping DIY folks with common issues by giving helpful information. I try to consider everyday cenerios that play out in the real world and particularly in less than industry standards work environments with less than optimal tools equipment and skill levels. It may not be helpful stating that this is an easy job that takes 20 minutes when in the real world a person doing it for the first time might want to set aside enough time to do it right. I don't doubt folks can do it faster than myself. I'm a fat 55 year old guy with a bad back. Haha. Just trying to help people with advise and maybe save them some money. Thanks for visiting.

Why do they make everything under the hood look like a big grey blob instead of just color coding the damn parts? Can't be that hard.

Did you ever figure it out? My 03 3.0 has a pending P0316 and P0300. It bogs around 55 mph and the teach, speedo, gas and temp gauge cycle like when you first start the car. Other than that it runs fine

Replaced all plugs and Coil packs still have code p352. Research tells me it may be the ecm. Any information on this issue?
@mistermacgray7 жыл бұрын
Alex Arambul I had to have my ecm changed out to get rid of the miss issue known to happen on these, at least the 05 and 06 years, because of the supplier ford got them from. The computer shorts out internally causing the miss. Thankfully my vehicle had the issue when I bought it used and the dealership paid the $1200 to have it fixed because it was preexisting.

Thank You, I am looking at a '01 Escape selling low for $1000 with 92K miles. This should be a piece of cake :)

My01 escape has a bad misfire. At first it wasn't so bad, i could give it a certain amount of throttle and would run fine, now, it's missing completely #5. I swapped 5 &6 coil and had it checked, the 5 and 6 was missing.so it's a coil but, there is something else too. Any suggestions?
@ThecardoctorTV9 жыл бұрын
James Eldridge I would suggest replacing the coils, boots and plug in cyls 5&6 and plugs and boot in others and clear the codes and go from there. Maybe a compression test is in order to confirm there is nothing mechanical going on.

we have a 2001 escape which has developed a sporadic misfire problem. it will go fine for days and then one cylinder will pack up. it shows nothing on the engine warning or internal pc. could it be a loose connection rather than a coil?
@ThecardoctorTV7 жыл бұрын
That's possible but not likely. Checking mode6 data on a scan tool will show stored misfires and lead you in the right direction. Probably needs a tune-up with plugs and coil boots but youll I would replace the coil in the missing cylinder.

Youll likely need to get more advanced with testing to pinpoint the cause. If youve checked all the obvious stuff you might need to take it to a reputable mechanic to diagnose the problem. Wish I could help more. Good luck
