In this video we diagnose a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid that cuts off while driving reverting to electric LOS mode. Initially we filled it with fuel and went on our way since this was a used car lot but later found out that was not the whole story.

My 2002 F 250 with the v10 does this everytime the fuel pump fails. Put the parking brake on, hold the service brake put the trans in gear and bury the throttle is the only way to test the fuel pressure on a ford imo. In park it had 40 psi or more at any rpm. Even in gear and just blipping the throttle fuel pressure remained over 38 psi. With my test the fuel pressure would drop to zero under heavy load. And in my experience there is a large possibility of a new fuel pump failing within a year. It is the exact reason I put an access hole in the bed floor of my truck. The longest lasting pump so far in my truck is the current Delphi pump.

I have run full synthetic oil almost since day one. I know the maintenance books says every 100,000 miles. Kept the videos coming. Thank you J

Would you recommend a 2009 Escape Hybrid? Am thinking of buying one. My county is getting rid of their entire fleet because they bought new ones. They have 90-100k miles and all maintenance done on time.

@@HenryFanLearningScience I ended up getting a 09 Limited Hybrid with 180k miles. So far, so good. It has 240k miles now. Other than regular maintenance, I've replaced the MECS pump by myself.

Hello, I have a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. I really like it, when it sits, the main battery drains and then I can't start. I was wondering if you ever noticed that the hybrid battery charges when there is a charger in the 12vdc battery. Am I mistaken? I am watching my AUTEL monitor and i see the charge climb . Is this the way to charge the hybrid battery?

2 bad pumps is just weird. But then, the more you overcomplicate the plumbing, the easier it is to clog the drain. Ever figure out what failed?

Hello, I have an 09 Escape Hybrid. It got flood damage (water level was on the fan radiator motor and below the exhaust manifold) The cabin also got water up to the bottom of the front seat. The rear cabin was dry because it was dipped at an angle where the front of the car got the most flood damage. Any help or recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Could be they damaged it during installation, if indeed it was just spraying fuel out of the lines inside the tank.

How come you hesitated so long to change the fuel pump?It seem like it was the problem from the beginning. I have had a couple of Fords, the Tempo back in the day was known for fuel pumps going out, 2 of them under warranty, remember not being able to go over 15 mph ...

Its electric assets steering. Could be as easy as a bad connection or as bad as a bad electric motor.

Out of no where my 05 escape hybrid wont start! Well... it does for 2 seconds... then says stop safely now! Where do I start? I got the for scan app and connector! It said low voltages... charging it all up now! Any help would be appreciated

@@teyyarnurullayev868 I did three things... not sure what did what... but it's fine now! First... disconnected 12v battery and charged it. Even though it was new it was low! Second... dumped it into 330v battery three times, charging it back up after each time! Repeat three times! Let it sit overnight with both batteries disconnected! Third... reset all codes after it started right up the next morning after connecting batteries! There was alot before doing the above and from failing to start! Even though I think it did by having No Battery connected overnight by doing that! That's it... no problems since! Good luck!

@@teyyarnurullayev868 You know How to dump the 12v battery to the 330v one dont ya!? By pushing the button... and waiting... see manual on how to jump itself! Do that three times! Charging it back up each time! I think my batteries where just way to low! I've had an issue with my alarm going off for no reason! I think that drained my 12v while I was away! Which somehow made the 330v lose voltage!? I dont know... just my guess! But the 330v was very low also! Like I said... no problems since then! With no battery power overnight reset the PCs back to factory also I believe!

@@woodywoodman2319 Bro I had the same exact scenario, the alarm going off randomly killing the batteries, I fixed the alarm problem, if you still own the car and have that problem let me know (The problem has to do with the door sensors, one of your door sensors is faulty, activating randomly and telling the car that someone opened the door while the car is locked so thr alarm goes off, what I did is bypassing the sensor fooling the car into thinking that the door is always closed).

Great example of why assumptions have no place in diagnosis. Brian shows that just because a component is relatively new doesnt mean it is in working order. Without knowing a detailed history, new parts can be faulty, incorrectly fitted and damaged during installation. I look forward to a tear down of the fuel pump to see why it went bad.

Never tested it but it pulls enough amps to properly load test circuits that’s for sure.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I drive a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid! 112,000 miles! I bought it off Copart & fixed it up! It was going good for a month then I was driving on the highway a week ago and the car shut off & a red triangle came up saying stop safely now! Also the check engine light came on solid. So I pulled over & turned the car off. Then when I turn the car back on everything is gone except for an exclamation point light that has always been there. Also it was saying change TPSM so I did and that went away. Now it says Tire pressure low but when I go to put air in my tires they are already above 32! Anyway so the stop safely now and check engine light keeps popping up and the car shuts off then when I re start the car I am able to drive like normal again until it randomly pops up again! Please help! I’ve tried looking online but I can’t find nothing specific!

My escape hybrid shuts down after driving 25 miles. This will usually occur on a busy freeway but it can occur on any road. RED TRIANGLE. Pull over safely. Pull over stop for 30 seconds and drive another 2 miles. Had a code B1066. Any clues before I get crushed while "pull over safely^

Hi Norman, We're having the same issue with our 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. Also on high speed highways and specifically at night for some reason. Did you solve your issues and if so, what was the fix? We've had the battery and throttle body replaced (per our mechanic's recommendations), but its still happening. Arrgh!
