Why didn’t you use the rear locker on the ford? It comes with it you should have used it and it wouldn’t have had any issues going up
@donhenry85942 жыл бұрын
To make this a fair comparison on put the same wheels and offroad tyres on both. Stock tyres on Ford and Toyota are different miles apart. Tyres size and pattern play a big role in comfort and grip on offroad.
@Sabumnim6663 жыл бұрын
So diff lock applied to the imitation land cruiser and left off on the ford? You 2 need to learn new tech and I appreciate you own old cars but get with the game. Why would you buy a $70000 car to scratch up off road, when you would be normal road driving well over %95 of the time.

Everest is much better to live with around town, more grunt, better ride. But the Prado shades the Everest offroad with the centre diff lock and in particular that wheel articulation.

Love the channel lads! Loving the comparisons! Can I make an odd ball request?? Comparing an old school 4x4 with a new one? Such as an 80 Series Sahara that has the factory front and rear lockers and a 200 series Sahara? Ive had an 80 series for years and its a weapon offroad, but on road for touring is no where near as nice as a 200. Im contemplating going to a 200, but feel they are not as good off road...but would love to be proven wrong!!

And you didn’t even test the last model Prado which is even better off roader with a rear diff locker in the VX and in the Kakadu sub models.
@robd20965 жыл бұрын
That was a professional review? As 4X4 vehicle testers & journos I can't believe they did not raise (or even know) that the Everest was greatly hampered off road by the 20" 50 series wheels vs the 18" 60 aspect on the Prado. This makes a huge difference and should have been taken into consideration, or otherwise the 18" wheel option should have been put on the Everest to make it an even playing field. Another embarrassing gaff was the comment on the Everest's electric steering. It is not "an emissions thing" it's what newer vehicles have so they are compatible with major safety advances such as Lane Guidance, autonomous parking, etc, etc. Toyota is years behind the market with their refusal to change from hydraulic to electric steering. So, is the $5k price premium between the two make the Prado worth it for these top spec models? It's a bigger gap on the more popular mid-spec Trend/GXL models. I suppose that's a choice for the buyer, but again should have been a factor in the comparison.

This is one the most shit reviews I have seen. Might be OK to a brand disciple but the majority of people want a proper head to head not one orchestrated due to bias or because of some commercial agreement with a particular manufacturer. Having said that i have also see a few other reviews where the Ford is classed superior in most ways but the Toyota somehow is equal or better in the wash up, why is that? Plus I am sick of the centre diff lock rubbish. The Ford centre diff computer controlled clutch pack system works well for me and has a very high break away force. Especially so in light that very few of EITHER of these vehicles will spend any significant time off "formed" roads. The folks who live in remote and rugged areas seldom buy this type of vehicle, they go for the old tec Toyota 70 series for good reasons (ie low tec , backup/dealer network). Most buyers of the Everest and Prado are urban warriors and caravaners.

You must not have done much research then: Everest Trend placed 4th in 2019 Australian 4x4 of the Year Awards - The Prado didn't even make the short - list let alone top 8.The Ranger (on which "bones" and drive train the Everest is built) XLT 2nd and Raptor 1st. The Prado didn't even make the top 8... In the majority of Independent objective reviews and comparison testing the Everest edges out the Prado with an average rating of 8-9/10 across assessed criteria - and it's cheaper. 2017 and 18 : Strangely neither Everest nor Prado made the short list 2016: Everest 1st and Prado 5th. 2015: Everest 1st and Prado 2nd.

@@ShoeysAdventures Why when they first drive in it are they referring to the upgrades is has as at 2018? Still the way the "tests" were conducted and the video poorly edited it doesn't surprise me if it wasn't MY18.. For the record my current car is a MY19 Everest Trend 2.0L. I have owned Mitsubishi, Holden and Toyota as well and used myriad fleet brands/models of 4x4 on and off-road for my work over the past 30 years. I don't look at brands so much as the model and what it's capability, comfort, performance and cost are. The Trend and Prado are both excellent 4x4s period. In short I am objective. Having got that clear this "test" comparison was seriously amateurish and flawed. 1. It was off-road only, limited in duration , technicality and consistency.. 2. Tires play a big part in performance. No one with half a brain who regularly off-roads runs stock road tires. To truly test the vehicles on an even playing ground they should have kitted them both out with identical A/T tires and taken that out of the equation.If it were an on-road/towing test then the H/T would have been fine. 3. I agree they should have got a MY19 mid range Prado and a Trend (in 2.0L as that is the biggest change/advancement for the Everest in 2019). 4. If it is an off-road test then the reality is regardless of which car wins it means it only does so off-road in those conditions - useless really as even most avid off-roaders still spend 90%+ of their driving time on-road. Finally (and why i bought a Trend not a Prado) you cannot dispute that: a. since 2015 the Everest has edged-out the Prado in the 4x4 of the Year Awards they were short listed for. This year Prado didn't even make the shortlist, b. the Trend is better value for money c. Overall including on-road, towing, daily use, price, comfort etc the Trend is the winner. The majority of professional reviewers/testers have come to this conclusion with the Everest averaging 8-9/10. Just a little bit, but still better than the Prado. This video is not only a piss poor comparison test it is a joke.

Guys, a good review but comparing stock cars is if such little value and no different from any other review. The Prado and Everest and both great 4wds that can be built up to handle anything. How they scrabble up a steep bank on stock suspension and tyres...who cares? Why don't you discuss the pros and cons of the two cars as platforms for upgrade. There's just no good info on this. It would be great to discuss: - Availability of upgrades - What size wheels and tyres can they handle? - Weight and gvm issues - The flexibility of seats and the layout of the back for drawers, fridges etc. - Ease of use of the 4wd system - Space for things like the second battery or compressor - Fuel range and long range tank options - Ownership experience of Ford vs Toyota Having recently bought an Everest this info is only buried in Facebook groups Now "that" would be a helpful review. Let carsales do the crappy stock reviews. Give your viewers a review which helps them actually make a choice.
