Do you know if it will cause an issue with the immobilizer if you just unplug the pad? I don't need the keyless entry capabilities, and the pad is constantly flashing and killing the battery.

Was there any issue with the security system after you replaced the panel? What was the process to program the new keypad to the preferred code or did the old code just work? I have a local shop possibly willing to do this repair for me or we can do it ourselves. Local shop was concerned about messing up the security system. I have a 2012 Ford Explorer - Limited. Thanks!

Hi, it had nothing to do with the security system. It was pretty much plug & play and old code worked since it is stored in the pcm and not tied to the panel itself.I beleive you should be good.

By 2016 The panel with the mirror and window controls and the lower door handle are just clipped in. There is one 10mm bolt under the door handle and the same two 7mm screws at the very bottom of the door panel. The other differences are self explanatory. I could not reach the clip that held the wires for the old panel, so I just cut the panel and unclipped the connector. I have installed my new panel, but it's not lighting up? It's attached to the proper connector. Wonder if the panel is defective? Is there some 'reset' for the control panel?

Hello I don't think there would be any kind of reset. It should be plug & play. Yours is 2016 which is after the facelift but still I doubt there is any kind of programming needed. Part at my supplier is listed the same from 2011 - 2019. Could be a faulty panel

Hi, you can buy new one from Ford dealership. Other option is buying aftermarket one on sites such as ebay. Third option is getting a used one from a car salvage

Would it have been possible to simply splice the wires of the new one, and connect them to the old wires coming out of the door? That way, you would have only had to replace the Pillar / Key Pad panel, and not take everything apart. My Explorer has the same problem. That seems like it would be a much faster and cheaper fix.

Hi, well yes that should work if you don't want to take everything apart. Make sure to disconnect the battery before doing it
