Watching all these videos, I learned my lesson and I'm telling you if I ever buy a new car then I will definitely be getting it rustproof👍

Can almost guarantee the first one has a thrown timing chain. Sport tracks are infamous for having to get their timing chain replaced every 100 thousand miles.

Don't forget all the body mounts turning to powdered dust.

So basically your gonna replace the timing chain twice before the truck falls apart

Wife's 04 Sport Trac has over 400,000 miles on the clock ! And still runs strong ! They all rust in the front corner of the fender but the fiberglass bed will last forever !

V8 or v6? Mine broke a time chain without warning at 171,000 miles. 04 with 4.0. I just put tensioners in my daughters 06 XLT with 4.0 and 181,000 hoping to buy her time until she finds a replacement. It might be in vain as hers might have a slight head gasket leak. No more fords for us, too many problems. Had better luck with Toyotas but they hold their value and good deals are snapped up fast.

@mousetoad7040 4.0 v6 . She's pretty beat up but still going strong !!

That bedcap is absolutely worth selling online. They're very, very hard to come by. I'm not surprised to see the rest of each truck in that condition, though. 4.0 V6, aka "the 4-point-blow V6," were notorious for timing issues and, unfortunately, was the only engine offered in the first gen Sport Trac. Now, if you find one with a manual, that's an absolute unicorn. I prefer the 2nd gen V8's myself, but there are a good few people out there that would go nuts over that (that and the bedcap) Edit: I just checked online and could only find one bedcap for sale on eBay so far. It looks a little worse than this one, listed for $550, and at least 16 people have it in their watch list at the moment. Hope that's helpful!

When the sun light hits the dashboard in a certain way, looks like the THEFT light is lit, at least that's what I've experienced with my 1997 Ford Explorer XLT.

Do you crush the cars with the garbage/items in them or do you clean them out?
@EdwardTunilla-zn2ch3 ай бұрын
It seems like the cars are lasting at least 20 years on average. My Mom 's idea was to use a 🚗 until it couldn't be driven anymore.

Both have plenty of good parts on them. Why crush them, especially the first one.

Wow the rust belt destroys everything. Reminds me of a Bible verse “lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break in and steal.”Matthew 6:19. We must put our trust in Jesus Christ for our salvation. Love the vids btw

Just now saw this, bed cap is probably gone by now. Anyway, my sport trac, though solid (west coast car originally) has broken timing chain so is parked until I find an engine.

Why would someone have a SportTrac and then put a bed topper on it? Just buy a regular Explorer at that point. Can we get a video of these going in the crusher?
@FortunaFortesJuvat3 ай бұрын
Sport Tracs were built on a stretched Explorer platform; they were about 16" longer than a regular Explorer. With a cap, you could carry 4 adults in comfort, all their stuff, and keep it dry and separated too. It also came with a sliding rear window.

The wheels on the black one look decent. How much you think those can get? I'm betting $200 and the camper shell would bring between $600-750. The silver one might be salvageable if it has electrical gremlins.
