Your video helped me fix my truck! I relocated the gauge cluster ground and it worked like a charm! Only took a few minutes after 2 days of troubleshooting. Thanks man I really appreciate it! I’ve had intermittent issues with my gauge cluster since I bought the truck but it never did this until now, thanks again

Great video. I had the exact symptoms this morning. Check spot on body and same thing, rusted out ground. Retapped a new one and voila it’s fixed. Thanks a lot saved me a lot of time and headache.

Thanks so much for this. Happen to me this weekend on my hunting truck and I was at complete loss. Re grounded and I knew right away it was going to work since my dash flashed and some lights came back on!

Dude you're the greatest I was working on this truck for a week checked everything and changed everything from ignition switch to starter to alternator even battery to find out it was ground on the driver side even did the passenger side thanks alot

SO MY WIRE WAS OK BUT THE WHOLE BODY WAS RUST . MOVED THE WIRE UP AND HEY i HAVE POWER AND IT STARTS. GOOD JOB THANKS. IF YOU CANT PUT IN GEAR CHECK THE OTHER SIDE GROUND BY THE FUSE BOX HAD THAT ISSUE LAST YEAR

This is what happens with these sort of issues. The ground in the drivers side, behind the kickpanel at the bottom is one single wire, yet if it's not grounded it will mess up so much and send you on a wild goose chase. The fact that the PATs system starts flashing and giving codes that show that the transceiver, or ignition, pointing to the key and even sending people to get it reprogrammed is a real time killer. The fact that if you pull fuse 6 or 8 that the clicking stops, or that the radio or AC doesn't work, or works suddenly in accessory mode will also send you down another rabbit whole. With this very ground it will fail slowly and cause a range of issues behind the scenes, until total failure. You'll have failed starts, then it might start, then radio or cluster might cut out power while driving, and you'll bang it thinking it's just the cluster being bad, but the banging actually vibrates the ground wire below making it make just enough contact to resume cluster/accessories, but the worse one is that it will lose ground slowly at random times, and it may be while you're sleeping, maybe a few hours per day and you don't even know it. The symptoms are parasitic draw. When it's not grounded the keep-alive absolutely freaks out, hence all the weird stuff + clicking on the cluster. This draw is around 1 amps. I don't need to tell you that a 1 amp draw will kill a battery in a short while. So the truck will work fine for days, weeks, then you get up and notice it won't start, and then it turns out the battery is 11.5v or something overnight. Then you're chasing fuses, and finding out keep alive fuse is causing a drain, and PATs fuse is causing a drain, and since it's not blown you're wondering if there's a short somewhere, or something seriously wrong. Then after weeks of messing around, you'll find a video on youtube describing the EXACT symptoms you're getting. And boom, you check that ground and its rusted to crap. You fix it and everything fires up and works flawlessly. My point is, this one ground, unlike the passenger side one which has some telltale signs like shifting issues and lights not working on the cluster, SHUTS down and messes up so many systems. The truck literally becomes a brick and makes you think it's the PATs system that is not detecting something, or put into anti-theft mode. Unless your cluster says or flashes a theft icon, or text, and you're getting that flashing red light, that's a telltale sign of this problem pointing to the ground. If it really was just a PATs issue, the cluster would know. That and chimes, or radio, all work in ACC mode. If they don't you got a ground that is rusted or broken somehow. I can't believe such a small, 16-18g wire or whatever it is, shuts down the entire truck in such a way, but it does.
