Nice diag and job on that '03 Ford F-150. Dealt with similar issues on a Ford F-150 1999 4.2L, after fixing their vacuum hoses and having to replace a couple other odds and ends, even double confirmed with smoke test and fuel pressure test. The girl still wanted to sell the truck for P0171 and P0174 (Lean both banks) and not have me replace the fuel pump. I was like sell a truck over a bad fuel pump 😵🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I get selling a truck with a bad engine/transmission problem, but a couple hundred dollar fuel pump. Like you out ya mind. Oh well. 😂😂 Love the videos Hektor, you good in my book.

I am saving your videos and subscribing. I am a DIY and never found anything that I couldn't fix till I had this exact issue with my 02 f150 with the 5.4. I have put, new plugs, new fuel injectors, new coil packs, new egr, new back pressure valve, and new fuel filter. The bad thing is everything I did fixed it for a day or a few miles. But I have been taking off the battery cables. I am sure it is the fuel pump now after watching this. I even have the same codes as your one you were working on. So I am pulling pump out today and putting new one in. Wish me luck.Oh and Iove the way you are letting the little one be involved. Taht is how I learned everything I know. My dad did me the same way with everything he did. Thanks for the video. I am a new subscriber as of today.

Well any updates i have been having the same issue with my 02 f150 4.6l at 234k miles, replaced the everything u have and even replaced the fuel pump. Still sometimes rev up and down at start and stalls

Those damn gas tanks on trucks a re a pain in the ass. Changed the fuel pump on my dad's excursion and even after symphoning out most of the gas it still weighed a ton and doing it in the driveway was no fun either.

Hector your killing me .I do this job by removing all the fasteners on the drivers side of the bed loosening the fasteners on the passengers side of the bed pull the fuel fill in disconnect the tail lights connector lift it with my shoulder support it with 2by 4 give you lots of room to work.

I've got to tell you that this video shocked me, I bought a little old 2001 f-150 with the 4.2, when I bought the truck it ran great for about a month with the exception of a long start well about two weeks ago my check engine light popped on I had a scanner put on it and it was a misfire in my #1 spark plug so I went and bought a new coil pack, plug wires, and spark plugs for it but before I could put every thing on I was driving down the road and all the sudden it started running real rough man it was running bad I told my little Chihuahua dog , baby girl we might not make it home Lol, but we did, any way I put all the new stuff on it and the check engine light was still on and it was still running rough, I even put a few new sensors on it to no luck, but what shocked me the most was when you did that fuel pump it fixed that long start issue and that truck sounded so much better, see what I think, and I don't have a scanner tool, is when I did the plugs and all, it probably fixed that #1 misfire issue I had but now my fuel pump has finally said enough is enough I don't know, but that is surly what it seems ,I'm on my way out the door now to put a fuel filter on it just because I don't know when it's been changed last, thanks for a great video I assure you I'll be looking at many more.

My truck is behaving similarly and I've replaced so many things chasing this lean condition with the same codes my scanner showed the fuel pressure is within proper parameters I've checked for vaccum leaks a ton and replaced the tps,maff,the fpdm,fuel filter and fps I'm considering just replacing the pump I'm pulling my hair out here 05 5.4 3v

Also seems like the fuel pressure regulator was bad ( in the fuel pump assembly on a lot of vehicles), by how the fuel pressure dropped so fast when shut off.

Just saw your How to use relay as kill switch video and have a question. I have a 12v auxiliary battery system. I want to use 2 -12v DC motor back 2 back with shaft connecting them. One will be wired to my 10a pwr sollar controller & the other via toggle switch & fuse box,to 2nd motor. My question. Hope you can follow.Can I put a relay,5 pin set up like in your video, between the battery & 2nd motor so when the 1st motor that's connected to the solar controller charging the battery,reaches desire charge, then the relay cuts off the 2nd motor so not to over charge.

Update. My 02 has same codes. I have put new plugs, new coil packs, new injectors, new fuel pump, replaced all fuel lines and emissions lines under the bed, I do not know what else to do. I put a part on and the service engine soon light will go off and it will run smooth as silk for a few miles then the service engine soon light will come on and it starts missing like crazy. Can anyone help please. Tell me anything.

Aye bro I have a 04 f250 with 5.4 gas engine 2 valve acting up I had that catalytic converter stolen and it started to shake around 50 mph when let off the gas I put a new one on changed 02 sensors idle Control valve, throttle position, sensor, fuel injectors and it helped but now it dies once I let it idle

Really really good video :) I thought that the issue with the pump motor would only be if motor is spinning slower. I didn’t know that you can problem as well if the motor spin faster. So whats the rule of thumb to pump motor rpm? As always very informative, keep them coming. Thanks

10,000 rpm (high) 4 amps of current (kinda low) 20psi of fuel pressure (low)… high pump rpm means the pump is not pushing enough fuel or little to no resistance to fuel flow, this pump wasn’t holding pressure with the KOEO (bad check valve or internal leak at the pump) basically the fuel pump is freewheeling. 👍🏼

Automatic or manual transmission? I'd say the Automatic transmission clutches are messed and the truck has gone into a limp mode to keep you from damaging further.

I have a 2002 f150 and it stopped while driving and was able to get it to my in laws house before it completely stopped. There's power, a new fuel pump, new battery and connectors (I blanked on the name lol) but when I turn the key the power shuts off and nothing happens. When I let go of trying to turn on the car the lights come back on. Many videos say it's the key ignition but we took the dash board apart under the steering wheel and tried to manually start it by the switch in the dashboard. What could it be? Would it still be the key ignition? Please help. Anyone. Lol. This is the only car I have and I have 2 kids to take to school and pick up and also use the truck for my business.
