Hi Mark I have only just come across your video, rather by accident and realised, that's my car! How are you? Quick update; set a PB at Wiscombe Park in April, 2nd in Class at Abingdon in June with a Class win on the second course but they add the best from two courses for the result and I was driving like an old f**t in the morning. Finished off at Goodwood with a Class win in September, 3.8 seconds faster than I'd managed in my Alfa and 3.6s faster than in a borrowed Honda S2000(my son's). Just starting to get the hang of it when winter arrived. I've done nothing to the car except check those hoses, glued the o/side front door seal to the window frame and checked the oil level. We did 1000 miles last week through France, Belgium and Germany and, apart from the noise under load it was fine, returning 44mpg without trying to economise. Now I am going to clean those seats. Again! 66,000 miles on the clock and thinking about how to go faster next year.

Hey John! It's good to hear from you. I did see my/your car at the tail end of a clip (parked in the paddock) of someone else driving an ST up a hill climb. You've had some Impressive times in it compared to your Alfa and great results. I'm so glad it's still serving you well and doing what it should be doing.

I skipped the MP215 package, I went straight to Stage 2 with Revo, got to say, glad I didn't bother with the MP215 or any other Stage 1 package, the difference in power and 'shove' as you say is truly epic, couldn't imagine having my ST any other way now. It's incredibly fun to drive! I imagine it's very similar to the MR230, but my ST with Revo Stage 2 is running just over 240hp so probably has a little bit more 'go' in it than the MR kit, but probably isn't much in it in the real world! Was certainly a lot cheaper though! To go from stock to Stage 2 with Revo it only cost me £2150, everything included (fitting etc.), couldn't be happier!

Got the MP215 and the shift kit. Everybody likes more power, but any more would change it too much, I think, for me. The extra torque and top end power make it plenty quick for daily driving, while keeping it quiet and smooth.

Hello Mark, I really hope you'll still reply to comments left on this video after 3 years. I'm in a situation where I might make an opposite swap as to what you've done. I've recently lived a year with a 430hp M135i and have now been living with an F87 M2 N55 for the past year. Full exhaust, downpipes, intercooler, chargepipes, tune running 440HP and 640NM. I'm now about to start building my house, and I think I'll be selling my M2 so I can use the money for the house instead of borrowing more and paying interest on that. So I was looking for a very cheap but mainly fun car and the best solution I seem to have come to is the mk7.5 fiesta st. I can pick one up with exactly 61.000 miles for very cheap (6k pounds). It's an ST2 with the leather and heated seats ect. I was wondering in your experience, will I be happy with the exchange and find peace and fun in the fiesta st? Or is it a horrible horrible downgrade which I'll regret every day of the ownership experience. Everyone seems to scream off rooftops about how fun these fiesta's are, but I guess thats speaking in relative terms when you're comparing them to other 6-9k cars, not against 45k cars? Your opinion on this could really help me in my purchasing process. Kind regards, Aaron

I've recently picked up an ST with the orange seats is there a particular fabric cleaner you recommended, also what tyres did you mainly run?
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
techno hamster I used CarPlan Kleenup Upholstery Cleaner and also tried Turtle Wax Upholstery & Carpet Cleaner. Both are foam aerosols with a stuff plastic brush attachment and they both worked as well as each other. I also used ArmorAll Carpet & Seat Wipes for a wipe down every now and then. Being bright white you can really see how much dirt they lift out! Tyres? Unlike most I found the standard fit Bridgestone RE050 tyres worked really well so stuck with them until I fitted MR230 when I switched to Yokohama AD08R in an effort to gain a little more front end grip/traction.

Hi Mark. I'm considering buying a Fiesta ST next year for my 50th (one last hot hatch blast before being sensible again). Would you say the firm ride is liveable with? Do passengers complain?
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon. I did 61k miles in 4 years, most of them commuting 50 miles a day on mostly bumpy, lumpy, and broken b-roads, so yes, it's more than tolerable. As for passengers...I have a C-Max for the family...so if they ever found themselves in my car they a) knew what to expect and b) knew complaints of any sort would fall on deaf ears! They're firm cars, they fidget a bit, quite a lot at times, but they're not punishing by any stretch of the imagination.
@simontaylor32117 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to reply mate. We have an Audi A3 for a family car so the ST will be my runaround and replace my 1.0 ecoboost. So family won't be in it much!

In that case, get it bought, find a nice stretch of road (or track) and drive it on its door mirrors! They thrive on being flung down a road :D

Hi Mark, Great channel and very informative. Looking at upgrading my ST to take the MP215 package. What is your advice in relation to insurance quotes and premium increases? My concern is that my insurance company will either reject the policy or look to add a significant premium which would negate the benefit.
@MarkCup706 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard. My experience with MP215 was that it added very little to the policy (£20-£30 from memory). The beauty of that package is that you're still insuring an unmodified car as you can select (or change your car to) 'Fiesta ST (MP215)' as the ABI give it its own identification code; instead of insuring a Fiesta ST with a remap and filter, you're insuring an unmodified Fiesta ST (MP215).

Hi mark you said use tesco momentum petrol you had no problems using that and also did you get good miles out of that My friends tell me to use shell Vpower but I would have to drive 5 miles to get it and tesco is down the road from me this is the first st i have had so you are the best guy to ask thanks
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. I used to use V-Power on previous cars but, like you, it was a trek to get there...I'm surrounded by Tesco filling stations and I've never had a problem with Momentum so I'm also sticking with that for my RS.

Hi mark, were you not tempted by MR265? I think it would keep up or better than an RS on track
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
I'd honestly have gone for an LSD before thinking about more power. 230 was more than enough for the road and the just about perfect amount on track...but it did lack front end traction. The eTVC was good on the road but on track it could never keep the inside front wheel in check. An LSD would have been the perfect next mod.

Thank you very much for your thoughts on owning a Fiesta ST. I am considering getting one. The only doubt I have is of the electric assisted steering, which is a common complaint for me of modern cars since it can make the steering feel very vague especially around the straight ahead position as if there was a deadzone. How is it on the Fiesta ST you had? I need to take one on a test drive to get my view, but asking so I have more opinions on this. Cheers. Also I have subscribed.
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! Steering on the ST? I came to the ST from several years in a Renault Clio 172 Cup with hydraulic steering (a changed rack meant I eventually ended up without any assistance...that was hard work but very feelsome!)...so was always a little wary of electric assistance myself. By comparison the ST is a little less feelsome...but not so much that you can't feel what the front contact patches are up to. On track (which is where you truly get to know how a car communicates) I could always tell when the fronts were just starting to scrub a little. So, yes, it's not as good as an unassisted or hydraulic system, but it's not vague and I personally find there's more than enough information coming through the steering wheel. Enjoy the test drive...I'm sure you'll find it a pleasant surprise...be aware it's a quick rack though, only 2.4 turns lock to lock so you can find yourself needing to unwind a little input after you turn in until you get used to it!
@mutezone7 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for the quick reply. This is very good information. Wow, now that is a quick rack but made more for more engaging driving in my opinion. Hopefully the test drive will exceed my expecations. Cheers.

Good, useful video Mark. I am about to take delivery of a new 5 door Fiesta ST. I am contemplating getting a Mountune upgrade later on, would you say the 215 with the Symposer delete might be a good option? as I also don't like lots of noise.
@MarkCup707 жыл бұрын
MP215, yes 100%. Symposer delete? I myself liked the symposer noise...which was never intrusive and only really came through when you floored it, a nice growl low down and a bit of a rasp up top. If you're just cruising about on a constant throttle it doesn't really make a great deal of noise at all. Best thing is just see how you get on. If you've seen my symposer videos you'll know it's a very quick and easy job to swap it over so you can always give that a go if you find the symposer noise a bit too much.

Hi Mark. Really enjoy your videos. I know you are a Focus RS owner now (very jealous), but just a quick question on the Fiesta ST with Mountune upgrades. I have a FiST 2015 with the MP215 kit and tune (with mTune etc), plus Mountune Catback exhaust and other add ons... soon to get a Mishimoto OCC and an intercooler upgrades.... slowly working up towards full Stage 2 hardware and tune (aka MR230 like you had). I also hear lot of great things about Peron 1+ and 2 tunes, but to use them, I'd have to spend over double on the Peron programmer hardware and software... where I can just pay for the MR230 upgrade tune at a fraction of the cost when ready and that would be more than enough for the odd track day etc. My question is, when you get the upgraded MR230 tune on the mTune handset, does it overwrite the MP215 tune? Ideally, I'd like to revert between the MP215 tune - which I think is perfect (sweetspot as you say) for a daily driver tune with plenty of shove if you need it. But on a track day, the MR230 tune would be even more fun... but when back on the road, put back to MP215 as it would be more fuel efficient etc. than a more aggressive Stage 2 tune - even if driving non-enthusiastically. If the MR230 tune upgrade overwrites the MP215 tune on the mTune handset, the other option is to buy a different vendor tuner (like Peron) and run the MP215 as a daily (separate tunes/handsets). I figure the mTune being basically a restricted Euro version of the US COBB AccessPort, I know the COBB accessport can hold numerous Maps/tunes through the handset and the accessport manager software. Hopefully mTune is the same? What is your experience with this? I've emailed Mountune about this, but haven't heard back as yet. Thanks again for all your help and great content!

How weird you love it’s ability to breake traction. Makes zero sense, since it’s front wheel drive. Think you got something about drifting wrong :)

I like that you have to manage the traction , I like that you have to drive it. Who cares if it's slower, you get more time to enjoy how it feels!
