After watching over and over i finally understand how to wire it. Thank you so much i have a Ford Focus same year as you and thanks for doing the hard work so i don’t have to
@TheOzthewiz4 жыл бұрын
TIP: The (neg) wire from the fog lights should go to chassis gnd and NOT DIRECTLY to (neg) battery terminal, reason being there is a current sensor at the (neg) battery terminal which the BMS (battery management system) uses to determine the charge and discharge of the system to regulate the battery charge for maximum battery life. You DO NOT want to bypass this sensor! Otherwise, excellent video! Thanks for uploading!!

Thanks for the information, I just installed fog light on my new 2016 Kia Sedona and the relay setup worked great. Low beams activates the fog lights and the high beams turns them off.

Hey great video. I followed and got excellent results. 1 question, My fog lights are activated the entire time the car is turned on. Not accessory, but when the engine is running. If i turn the headlight dial from off to automatic (or anywhere in between) the fog lights do not turn off. Only when the high beams are activated. Did I not properly tap into the low beam wire? The day time lights run without the low beams on. Figured Id ask before tearing in to the wiring again.
@stringedservices7 жыл бұрын
Michael Herrick, I would say you tapped into the wrong wire for power to the relay. You need to tap into the wire that only has power when the low beams are on and no power when the high beams are on.

Hello! I have a focus mk3 2012 recently and I noticed that my front fog lights don't work... When I press the button to turn them on there is a "click" at the switch box but they don't turn on... The bulbs are fine... I wonder if is the same setting of the wires if the car had fog lamps installed at the factory, that is, would it be worth my effort to see if by chance one of the wires broke and that's why they don't work? Thanks in advance. Greetings!
@violinman19704 ай бұрын
@mmze99-fcs , unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the factory fog lights wiring. Your best bet would be to try and find a factory wiring schematic and check for continuity. I'm not sure how the factory harness works, but on this aftermarket one the relays will go bad from time to time and need replaced. Good luck!

Great job bro, but with the wires part im lost....i buy the kit by aliexpress it should be the same installation?
@stringedservices7 жыл бұрын
Stephan Parra, yes it should be the same as in my video. Or you can just follow the wiring diagram that comes with the kit and just turn your fog light on and off with the switch that came in the kit.

Why do you need to do the high beam setting, can t you just turn one when low beam goes on?
@violinman1970 Жыл бұрын
I wanted my fog lights to function like they were stock, on with low beams and off with high beams. If you just wanted them on all the time with either low or high beams, you could eliminate the 2nd, normally closed relay, and just use the normally open one to turn them on. Because on this particular car, both the low and high beam bulbs are on for the high beam setting, the fog lights would also be on for both the low and high beams if you eliminate the 2nd relay on the high beams.

@@violinman1970 How does the quick connector work for connection?, i also don't want to cut the stock cable.?
@violinman1970 Жыл бұрын
@JICisneros it makes a small slit on either side of the wire through the insulation. If you wanted to remove it at some point you can and just put a dab of liquid electrical tape to reseal the insulation and protect it from future corrosion.

Hi!One Question,Why dont you take power from smal parkinglights in front as stearing power to relay for foglights?
@violinman19703 жыл бұрын
It was easier to find a wire closer to the power source than run a wire up from the parking light. You could definitely do that if your parking light wire is easier to get to.

@Typhon88812 күн бұрын
Why would you wire the fog lights to stay on when your low beams are on because there's no fog but then when you turn your high beams off your fog lights turn off. What's the point of that?
@violinman19709 күн бұрын
@Typhon888 , for two reasons. First, I wanted them to function like they were stock. Fog lights only work with the low beams from the factory. Second, if you are truly using them for their intended use, which is for foggy conditions, you only use them with low beams. You should not use high beams when it's foggy because the water particles in the air will reflect the light back to you, cause an increase in glare, and less visibility.
@lawrencewong90154 жыл бұрын
I bought a similar set of fog lights and I only had three wires. Red and black to the battery, and white (originally leading to the switch) for the low beams but the fog lights won't turn off even when the car is turned off? Any ideas why it stays on?

@stringedservices7 жыл бұрын
ccc rrr, you would just eliminate the normally closed relay. I'm not sure what state you're in but in my state (PA) the fog light have to shut off when the high beams are on to pass our yearly inspection.
@TheOzthewiz6 жыл бұрын
Did you have to adjust the beam height on these fog lights? If so, how difficult would it be to adjust when the lights are mounted on the car? I also purchased a pair of fog lights from ebay, sans the harness and relay. One of lights adjuster "free-wheels", so I have not installed them, but will be returning them for a replacement pair with instructions: PLEASE CHECK THESE LIGHTS BEFORE SHIPPING THEM TO ME! These lights cost me $26.82 with free shipping. So, I guess you get what you pay for. I suppose if I went to Ford and paid $100 a piece, I would have gotten QUALITY lights. Still made in China, but with "more" quality control.

If I want to drive in the daytime with just the fog lights on, is that what the included push button is for?
@Koalateatimes8 жыл бұрын
Basically yes. This is even true from factory. It is typical for US domestic cars to have this options. Most imports do not unless you wire it differently or splice connections and get all technical.
@TheOzthewiz6 жыл бұрын
To run with JUST the fogs on, you would NOT wire the relay (only one needed) coil to the head light . And yes you would use the switch and preferably wire the relay coil to a circuit that is "hot" when the ignition is on to shut off the fog lights if you forget to switch them off.
