Just in case I purchased a complete ignition assy - your solid explanation of how to R&R made it simply easy. Without your guidance I would never had located those hidden screws, nor had the confidence to separate the assy from the plastic housing - for fear of not knowing the breaking point - total time 1.5 hrs - THANK YOU!

Great video, thanks for manufacturing that rebuilt kit. I love when parts can be salvaged by just replacing a component, small effort to avoid waste, and helps the environment. There is definitely a trick to get the new component lined up in the lock assembly and fit with the back metal piece which connects to the ignition switch, it took some struggle but finally figured it out.

Sorry to inform you, the first time they did it, they simply added tape to the end of your key cylinder. It is a wide known temporary fix. This is the real fix or to buy a new assembly.

I've 2016 Focus Se 2.0L Flex fuel engine and this mechanic say to check if switch is bad jump starter at its terminals ? so starter is mounted and connected just hit positive big main terminal with lil positive terminal ( which is next to it ) just like how'd you bench test it ? If it cranks it must be switch ? Doing it this way you bypass switch ? What it's been doing is weakly trying to start but almost like it just spins weakly . And yes I took it off took it to that mechanic and he bench tsted it looked good told me to put it back on try it . I did and it's not turning over . Brand new battery

My escape has the problem as well or similar problem. It’s gotten very bad though and it works when I do the tape trick and wrap electrical tape around the end of the lock cylinder but it’s so bad now that it makes my car stall. I don’t have a lot of money but I’m probably just going to replace the lock cylinder and hope that it works.

I don't mean to be dense, but I want to be clear before I purchase, I'm talking about that bolt that goes through the U shaped clamp into the cylinder housing. In other videos I've seen the head of this bolt has to be broken or chiseled off, so you can't use it again.

You can just buy a new break away bolt or You can cut a groove in the original bolt and use a flathead screwdriver if you want to re use it

Just FYI. They don't use a standard hex head bolts to secure the ignition assembly to the wheel column. Its a security bolt that snaps the head off while fighting it. You're forced to snap the head off or the rest of the covers will not fit. You need to use a chisel to loosen it up.

Sorry for the late reply, in that case disconnect the electrical ignition switch from the back of housing and turn it back of with a screwdriver or something fits in it and if the car shut off that way , might be something inside the housing not working properly
