Another is if you hold both ends of the hose closed and blow through one and / hold the other end simultaneously (holding both ends of hose) . It should not blow at all, well you shouldn't be able to blow it should be completely like flowing into a completely full plastic balloon it won't inflate any further, that's the best way to describe it. And if you do end up losing air that means there's a crack or a hole in the tube itself. Great video❤❤❤❤❤

I have a 2015 Ford Focus se and this is today’s code as I went to a different ford dealership. I recently had the low pressure fuel sensor replaced due to stall out issues. Had to have it towed last week due to incorrect fuel gauge said it had 30 miles left on tank but not the case. Yet started after refueling next morning. today the check engine light is on, was intermittent last week. The last two weeks having random engine revs in 1500-1800 rpms even after full down gear to stop and in neutral at stop light. I also found that if I I start my air conditioning unit for a few seconds it’s corrects the revs and then I turn off the air and drive normally.but I’m going to try this as the dealership is far out in service appointments, for 7-10 business day just to get it looked at, not even worked on. Thankfully this new dealership guy helped scan with the car today using obd reader, this how I know what code it’s giving and it’s description was vacuum issue, he suspected purge valve issue and the descriptions on screen Indicate as such.

First thing to check before pulling things apart is if this is a real problem. I have seen with my Ford Escape 2014 that if there is a temperature drop overnight combined with an empty gas tank. Erase the code and everything goes back to normal for a few more months.

You may have to wait until that same emissions monitor is run again for the code to clear. The monitor will run when certain conditions are met such as coolant temp, ambient temperature, etc. You could disconnect battery for 10 minutes or pull ECM fuse if you don’t have a code reader. The requirements for running the EVAP monitor vary depending on the year, make and model of your vehicle. Generally speaking, the fuel tank must be 1/4 to 3/4 full because a near empty tank or a full tank can affect the accuracy of the EVAP self-test. The ambient outside temperature must not be too hot (above 95 degrees) or too cold (below 30 degrees) because this affects fuel volatility and the amount of vapor inside the tank. The vehicle must also have sat overnight or for at least 8 hours without being driven. On some vehicles, the EVAP monitor runs when the vehicle has been cruising on the highway at light throttle at a speed of 45 to 65 mph for at least 10 minutes or more. All of the components in the EVAP control system must also be functioning normally. The presence of any EVAP related DTC fault codes will prevent the EVAP System monitor from running.

I followed all instructions on your video, im grateful that you added the part number on your description, it made it really easy to find the part that i needed. your suggestions from your reply on what to do all worked. I did do the 10mins battery, I drove my 2014 Focus SE till there was 1/4 gas in the tank, i left it in the garage with the hood up so it wouldn’t be too cold or too hot, I didnt drive my car during the weekend. Then on Monday, drove like it did before the “check engine light” came on. Drove to the gas station, didnt choke up anymore. I’m extremely grateful for your video, you saved me SOOO MUCH MONEY, I bet i would be charged for soo much with i went to Ford dealership. Thank you thank you thank you.

On a 2016 ford focus SE 1.0l the vaster canister purge valve on top on the engine. The ford Focus 2.0 not the same as the 1.0l focus. Only videos I find are on the 2.0 ford focus.

Hello, I have in my Focus 2014 the code P0443 and P0446, both related to a fault in the purge valve and ventilation valve circuit. This could be solved by changing the part that you changed? or is it specifically checking the wiring?

My line has an extra baseball sized canister about 4” before the purge valve, the correct part number pulls up the one you used in the video with no extra canister, do you know what that can is for or if I can just use the new one without any problems?

My 2012 Focus SE is stalling after driving around for a while. Example: I'm driving, reach a red light on flat or hill and as I press on the gas pedal it just doesn't move and starts sliding backwards if I'm on a hill as if it's not in gear and struggling to even Rev and drive off. I can feel as if my car is choking and struggling to move. Would this solve my issue? I've personally replaced all spark plugs, air filter is still fresh and right now I went and bought a new fuel filter to replace later on today or tomorrow, will this fix help my focus or could it be something worse?

This defiantly causes stalling, it used to happen to my girlfriends car before I replaced the valve, when you fill up does the car wanna die? If you can go to an auto parts store like autozone and ask if they can read the OBD codes for you unless you have a scanner yourself. The issue in the video causes a Check engine light. If the code matches the video then there ya go part is 51$ at autozone and as is simple to put on.

this part would not affect the fuel level indication.

That would most likely be a faulty “fuel pump sending unit”. Typicall that will be integrated to the fuel pump. Could also be a wiring issue

The light won’t turn off right away as computer needs to run the monitor again under certain conditions. You can clear it with your new scanner which is way more fun than waiting for the monitor to run again which may take a few key cycles.

If you don’t have a scan tool to reset, you can disconnect battery for a couple minutes or just wait a few drive cycles for the evap monitors to see that there are no longer any issues.

The light won't go off right away. The computer needs to run that specific monitor again before it goes off which could be a few driving cycles. You can diconnect the battery for 30 seconds (but then you'll need to re-set clock and radio stations). Or wait until the monitor runs again. Save your money on a code clear unless you know a pal with a scan tool.

Very helpful video. I had a check engine light and recurrent code, and also difficult starts right after fueling up. I purchased the factory replacement valve assembly (not much more $ than aftermarket,) and followed this video to make the repair. Knowing that blowing air to test the old valve gave me more assurance. I cleared the codes and all good so far. ✊🪵

Update: It was super difficult to fit in because the air intake hose only removes on one side but i got it in and it fixed all of my problems!! No more shaky start up after fueling and it got rid of my check engine light

You dont have to take the complete assembly off to make sure thats the problem,disconnect closest to firewall put hose in while car is turned of suck in hose you should not get any draw if not stuck open start car you should get draw now good purge valve move on

Try pushing the connector together (on) when trying to release green clip. If you are pulling apart at the same time it can be hard to release the green clip.
