Focus ST is the only hatchback that I have owned because it's the only one that looks good enough to own. The golf is too bland, the civic is too small, the veloster is too ugly, the Chevy sonic/spark is too weak. It was a clear choice from the beginning, the ST wad the way to go for me.

Well I actually own a 2017 focus ST. It has every mod except for replacing the factory turbo. Literally. It surprises a lot of people as to how quick the car actually is. And yes it is absolutely loud in your face and awesome to daily drive. Scares puppy dogs and little old ladies and as a 50-year-old Combat veteran that’s just fine with me.

2017 had me shopping a pre-owned GTI vs a brand new ST with 11 miles on her. I'm now sitting at 59,483 miles, and quite honestly really happy with my choice. The ST puts the same smile on my face every as she did on my test drive. Considering that I can always go out and buy a new GTI at anytime, I'm glad I went for the ST.

You didn't explain the powers of the EA888 GEN 3 engine. This is vw's third refinement in making this engine fixing problems along the way. Hey! Quick question... I’ve been watching all of the Opposite Lanes episodes and you guys never show over the interior of the vehicles. Is this due to them being individuals vehicles and they have personal belongings in them? As in this one you talk about the sunken in knobs in the GTI but we don’t see anything you speak of. Just a suggestion to do an overview of interior of the vehicles too, as in video overview.

i got a 2 door dsg mk6 gti with a stage 1+ cobb tune and god damn it is so much fun to drive. i'm totally biased but i would always pick gti. fun to drive, handles amazingly and not to mention it's hella refined.

I love my 19 Golf Alltrack SE. Not saying anything negative about the Ford. After all, it’s an American machine and that in of itself is cool. I just love my VW. Love the tight interior and that thud you hear when you close the door.

I would only disagree about reliability. Pretty sure they are even. This was the 3rd gen of the Focus ST globally. Not sure what you are talking about in reference to that. They just have a different driving philosophy. Focus ST is on it's 4th gen as we speak in europe. The St community has been alive since the early 2000s. It's not new nor small. Focus, Fiesta and Mondeos have had st variants in some cases for more than 2 decades now.

Well for me I'm 18 and my first car is a 2009 volkswagen gti 2.0t tsi 2-door mk5 6-speed. This car is amazing and is not that loud or slow. So for me i would still choose Volkswagen Gti 100%. Also you forgot to put an (s) in Volkswagen.

I went from a 16 Focus with the touch screen and leather and all that, to a 17 ST1. Personally don’t miss it, would rather put that money towards mods than the ST3 package. Lots of people are willing to sell their ST3 recaros also ;)

While the focus st is a new version of the focus... the engine in the focus is something in many other commuter cars like the fusion. The focus st isn’t like a unreliable car rather it is a new version of the focus. Focus has been around for years but they brought back the st and they had some issues here and there with weird wiring and some recalls. I just don’t want people walking away saying the car is unreliable because it hasn’t been made for years like a golf. If you are going to buy either of these cars read online about the issues for the year you are looking and the quirks of the car in general. Test drive the cars you like and then decide cause you don’t want to waste thousands of dollars regretting you got a different car down the line.

@@sheldonm3535 The CEL meme is on the mk6 and olders, ever since they moved to the MQB platform reliability has been a strong focus point for VW. And they're killing it in that department in my opinion.
