Thank you for making this video. I have the same problem, and now I will be able to replace the head temp sensor with ease. I truly appreciate you making this video. I would like to state one issue I am finding with my Focus, and that is when I turn on the A/C, the fans are not coming on, or at least from what I can see the right side fan is not coming on. I checked the fuses and relays with a multimeter, and I checked the right side fan motor with jumper wires. All are good. The resistor connector looks burnt/melted. The resistor is not clean and shiny, but the coil is not burnt looking. I can follow up with you after I pull the head temp sensor and see if the fans come on as well as after I replace the head temp sensor. But this is my wife's vehicle and we cannot afford another one, so any help is appreciated.

Same thing happen to me on my 2007 ford focus they gave me a short sensor coolant temp. Sensor what I need is a cylinder head temperature sensor. The video's on you tube are misleading, also the water pump was changed on this car and it started overheating again so we took the water pump off and part of it was missing, the part with the fan looking piece on it has this ever happen to anybody else?

Sometimes the alternator is too tight to the base- to get it out and put it back on it is a good idea to loosen the three bolts that hold the alternator together- this will make the alternator to loosen its grip to the base- you can always tighten them up using an 8mm wrench- do this before you fully tighten the alternator to the base.

Hi, do you happen to know where the Idle air control valve is on this car? I have a 2004 and it is the same set up as this engine. It is difficult to find a good picture of the IAC whereabouts for this engine.
@garycrombie98757 жыл бұрын
Right underneath the throttle body under the plenum
@d.j.99616 жыл бұрын
IF U DIDNT FIND THE IAC VALVE, STAND AT THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT FENDER WITH HOOD OPEN, STANDING CLOSE TO THE WINDSHEILD,LOOK TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE, BY STANDING ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR,FRONT FENDER, LOOK AT THE INTAKE! THE AIC OR IAC VALVE IS BETWEEN THE INTAKE PLENTUM & THE BLOCK! YOU CAN SEE A WHITE TAG ON THE WIRING, EASIEST WAY TO GET TO IT IS FROM LAYING UNDER THE CAR & REACH UP BETWEEN THE INTAKE & BLOCK! IT HAS TWO 8MM BOLTS! I RECOMMEND JACKING THE CAR UP & SET IT ON JACK STANDS, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!! I CLEAN MY IDLE AIR CONTROLL VALVE EVERY FEW MONTHS! I LEAVE THE IAC PLUGED IN, GET UNDER THE CAR & UNBOLT IT, & PULL IT UP THREW USING THE WIRE HARNESS SOMETIMES BUT, IVE DONE IT SO MANY TIME'S YET, IT STILL A PAIN IN THE BUT!!! CLEAN IT WITH BRAKE CLEANER & Q-TIPS, LET DRY B4 RE-INSTALLING IT!!! KEEPING THE IAC VALVE, THROTTLE BODY, & MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR CLEAN,(MAF SENSOR IS LOCATED IN THE INTAKE TUBE) I CLEAN ALL WITH BRAKE CLEAN, & THEN DO A HARD RESET OF THE ECU BY DISCONNECTING THE NEG BATTERY CABLE, COVERING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY POST WITH A THICK TOWEL(NOT COVERING THE NEG BATTERY CABLE,JUST THE NEG POST) I CONNECT A JUMPER WIRE FROM MY DISCONNECTED NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE/BATTERY POST & LEAVE CONNECTED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES!!! I KNOW IT SOUNDS BAD BUT, "WHEN DONE CORRECTLY", IT DRAINS THE CAPASITORS IN THE ECU! THEN, AFTER A FEW MIN_5-10 MIN, DISCONNECT JUMPER WIRE & RECONNECT BATTERY THE CORRECT WAY & TURN THE IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION(DASH LIGHTS COME ON) LET SIT FOR 30 SEC _1 MIN, THEN START CAR & ALLOW CAR TO IDLE & ALLOW FOR A FULL DRIVE CYCLE= A FULL TANK OF GAS! I DO THIS EVERY TIME MY CAR DOESN'T WANT TO IDLE & IT FIXES IT RIGHT UP!!! HOPE IVE HELPED?

+Lance Guerrero lol just be careful not to pry it much so u don't damage the block where it slides into. just shake it as much as possible and gently tap on it upwards . if you're tossing it I wouldn't worry about damaging the Alternator pulley so use that as leverage to pull up

Hi - Thanks for video. Same problem I think. Car blew coolant tube on top of the radiator and left me stranded. I noticed as the car got hot, the fans never came on but did come on with the AC turned on. It was too late though as I think all of the coolant had boiled off. Thank god I didnt blow the head gasket...The resistor between the fans had been changed some time before, so I know this wasnt the problem. Pulling the wire of the sensor should make the fans come on (low speed?) if the sensor is bad? Makes sense...Thanks!

I NOTICED THAT MY COOLING FANS WERE NOT WORKING, IT NEVER HEATED UP BUT, I NEVER COULD GET THE FANS TO COME ON UNLESS I DISCONNECTED THE HEAD TEMP SENSOR!(TWO GREEN-ISH) WIRES BY THE ALTERNATOR THEN, BOTH FANS WOULD COME ON BUT,THEN 1 WOULD STOP RUNNING SO, I WENT TO A JUNKYARD & GRABBED 4 RELAYS THAT CONTROL THE COOLING FANS! THEY ARE IN THE "UNDER THE HOOD" FUSE BOX & FIDLED WITH THEM & EVENTUALLY, THEY BOTH CAME ON! I SAW THEM KICK ON 1 TIME & ASSUMED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED! ITS NEVER OVER HEATED, THE GUAGE GOES TO THE MIDDLE & STAYS THERE BUT, I HAVE NEVER HEARD THE FANS COME ON SINCE!!! THO, MY EXHAUST IS LOUD! I AM FIXING THE EXHAUST AS SOON AS IT ARRIVES!!! YOU NEED A OWNERS MANUAL TO DESIPHER THE FUSEBOX (WHICH IS FORD BULLCRAP!!!) BUT, I BELIEVE THERE ARE 2 LOW & 2 HIGH RELAYS FOR THE COOLING FANS!!! THIS WEEK ALONE, I HIT A MASSIVE POTHOLE, BLEW A BELT IN TIRE & REPLACED BOTH FRONT TIRES, & WHOLE FRONT SUSPENTION & INNER & OUTER TIE RODS & BALL JOINTS & THE HEATER FAN SOLONOID WENT OUT (IT'S BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX-ONLY WORKS ON #4 HI) & THE FLEXPIPE DIRECTLY PAST THE CAT FLANGE SO, IM WAITING FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE AGAIN!!! From what I've read this sensor plays a big part in gas fuel mixture and does initatiate the fan. The cylinder head temperature sensor is an electronic engine management sensor found on many modern vehicles today. As its name implies, the cylinder head temperature sensor measures the temperature of the engine cylinder head. Temperature is one of the most important engine parameters that the computer uses to calculate timing and fuel for maximum engine performance and efficiency. The cylinder head is similar in purpose to the coolant temperature sensor, however, it is more accurate due to the construction and operation of the sensor. Due to the important role that the coolant head temperature sensor plays in the engine performance calculations, when the cylinder head temperature sensor has an issue, it can negatively affect the performance of the vehicle. Usually a bad or failing cylinder head temperature sensor will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential problem that should be serviced I just changed one so I'll let you know what happens.
