Replacing the transmission fluid and filter on my 2008 Ford Fusion 2.3 with the 5 speed Mazda transmission. This resolved the slight whine noise and shift solenoid code.

It is simple, pull the sensor off of the filter if equipped then just pull down on the filter, watch for the release of fluid, push the new filter in until it is fully seated and won’t go up any further making sure locations g pin goes in the right spot, reinstall the sensor if equipped, done.

My fluid is dark at 60,300 on a 2009 car not really as dark as yours its more of a light grey/brown but I ordered 5 Quarts of the Mazda MV fluid, it says in the owner's manual 4.7 quarts but not sure if that's total capacity or just a drain and fill, and, will a drain and fill be sufficient in getting most of the old fluid out and having some new good lubricating fluid in? theres no problems with the car by the way no rough shifts or codes, just want to perform some preventative maintenance.

If it has never been done then no dont replace it..... but if it has been changed at the recommended service intervals then you are good to change it.... Reason for saying not to replace the fluid if it has never been changed over 100k is the fact that it will most likely be burnt and full of clutch material... their will be little clutch material left on the clutches disks themselves and they are relying on the fluid which is mixed with this clutch material to allow them to engage and hold properly.... draining out this fluid and replacing it with new fluid will possibly make them start to slip and have no engagement..... sure you already have figured this out tho... haha

i never said it is certain that over 100k you cant change it...... take out the dipstick and smell if its burnt or drain some into a container and see what it looks like, burnt silvery looking fluid should not be changed and the fluid be put back in the trans.... otherwise change the bitch!!

***** I've never seen transmission fluid that dark before. I don't quite understand having the need for rust inhibitors. If a transmission has oil in it, then why would it need rust prevention? Wouldn't the oil itself prevent any rust?

Haha I've thought the same thing, perhaps internal transmission components that aren't submerged in fluid?

...frivolous commentary. No mention of allen size or how you got the hidden pan bolts out. Glad you told us you like your flashlight. Useless

Daryl Fresno: did you ever find out how to get those hidden tranmission pan bolts out? Glad I did a little walk through first realizing I couldn't get a tool on them. I thought of drilling a hole through the metal frame cross-members but opted not to. For now: just drain, replace, drive and repeat 2-3 times.

Skipped the most important part. Removing and replacing the filter. Lol.

I notice the motor is rocking back an forth an can use a mechanic to tune it up LMAO

Probably motor mounts or something. They're known to be problematic on this car.

Kinda bad you didn’t explain how you got those bolts off the driver side, that would’ve been helpful 😒👎🏾
