@Andrew Nicastro You can also get kits to build the cars that use the specs of the originals. It's possible to get a GT40 kit car for less than a new family car, with a choice of engine, and you can daily drive it. Some replicas literally are actual copies of the original, it just doesn't have the official pedigree of being manufactured by the original company or being made in that year.

I love how everyone is saying that the gt does now sound good or that it’s broken OR THAT IT NEEDS A TUNE but come on guys it’s a GT40 where are you going to find parts for it it’s a RACE CAR also why would you tune a car that is apart of history basically and heads up this is what a old v8 sounds like

Hayden Dahl ok first off it’s a replica not a 10million dollar original second of all there’s millions of parts for this car and just because it’s old doesn’t mean it shouldn’t run right even if this car was in 1966 it’d start and run better than this car it definitely needs a tune

@@-thebatman- True. The original starts right up, even though it's a 50+ year old used car. Either it sits too long or was never tuned right from the start.

No choke on the carburator = low vacuum pressure = hard starting

When I disconnected the headpipe from my 75 Cosworth Vega, it sounded just like that but louder, and it started in the first two seconds of cranking...

Real racecar that you can buy, I love it. Probably has freaking regular in it, why it won't start, no high octane .

Loving all the KZbin mechanics here. Nothing wrong with this start imo, sounds exactly like a carb and cam combo. Tuned for power not idling refinement

It's not about the actual start, its about cranking a starter continuously for that long. It takes a lot of current to turn an engine. When you put that much current through the starter windings, it gets hot. If you just keep cranking it like that, the insulation on the windings can degrade. You may not kill the starter with a long crank like that, but you have degraded the insulation. Eventually, the insulation will fail and short the windings. It's just not how you start a car. Keep it under 5 seconds, let the starter cool off for a minute then try again.
