In this video we are celebrating the Ford Lightning and its first race up Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. This is the 102nd PPIHC. And Ford has signed on Romain Dumas the current world record holder to drive their modified F150 Lightning by Ford Performance team.
In honor of this event I have included in this video my trip up Pikes Peak just a few days ago. I will speed up my dash cam footage to the exact speed that Romain Dumas drove when he broke the record a few years ago. Also, I will show you how effective the regenerative braking is and that the F150 Lightning is the best mountain driving vehicle.
The 2023 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat trim is such an awesome truck. You can even take a road trip with confidence. If you leave it in sport mode, the regenerative braking will help extend the range.

I hate it when they call those vehicles by the same name as the production vehicles, because they're NOTHING like them. Look under the carbon fibre shell and it's a completely different vehicle underneath! Do I think it's cool? Hellz yeah! And I think that these innovations in racing / experimental vehicles will also teach them things about how production vehicles can improve, but it just irks me when they label them the same as consumer models.

You definitely have a good point. It’s basically a nascar. Maybe they should mass produce it and call it the F150 Lightning Red Bull Trim :-)
