I have owned my 2.0L Maverick XLT FWD for 8 months (since January 2024) and have averaged 21 mpg city. Last month, I drove to Columbus, GA, with my mom and sister. I averaged 33mpg. 4,788 miles driven so far with 526 of that coming from my trip to Columbus. This little truck is everything I imagined it would be for my needs.

I don't drive the gasser but the hybrid Maverick ('24). With an ARE cap and a DECKED 70% pullout bed get 44-45 mpg after 8,000+ miles. Towing ~1,500 lbs over variety of roads for 600 miles then 12-18mpg. So far so good except I almost forget to fill up at times😂. Perfect daily commuter and swing by DIY vehicle. 2WD with winter tires is perfectly adequate. Thank you Ford!

I have a 2024 Maverick Ecoboost that is front wheel drive. Over the first 3,000 miles it has averaged 28.2 miles per gallon in mixed driving. I don't trust the computer since it tells me the miles per gallon has been 30.2. I haven't taken any long highway trips yet. I am happy with the truck after 4 months of ownership. It drives and handles much better than my old Ford Ranger did.

Nice. If it's anything like my 2.3l 2020 ranger, I'd watch out for the carbon build up. I'm sure they sell a catch can for your maverick. And of course change the oil religiously 3-5k max since turbos like clean fresh oil. Just saying. Im still in love with my 2020 ranger and I know turbo engines are sensitive to maintenance

@@champinsoccer9I have an Escape with the 2.0 Ecoboost and I change it every 8,000 miles. I use AMSOIL and even did an analysis that showed 7,000-8,000 miles is perfectly fine. One thing I've learned about oil is use the best oil and just change it before it's used up. I've done 5,000 mile changes since the mid 90's and even with a turbo you can definitely go beyond 5,000 miles if you do it right.

It is actually an "automatic" all wheel drive system. The all wheel drive function is only engaged when the vehicle detects conditions that require it. It works very well in snow from my experience last winter. My 2019 F150 weighed 5300lbs. I've had 7.4liters/100km driving 55 to 60mph (rated at 8.4liters/100km highway). Mixed driving returns about 9liters/100km in summer driving. It does not do as well in the winter but it blows by the EPA rating most of the time. I'm very happy with the mileage but then again my 3.5l 2019 F150 got pretty good gas mileage for a full size truck. I loved my F150 but it was way too big for my typical use.

I get GREAT average fuel economy ...90% of my trips are done on my 300cc Honda Scooter, that regularly takes me from London to Kitchener, and periodically to Toronto via the #401, and averages 3.5L/100kms and the remainder of my trips require the use of my 2010 F150 with the 4.6L averaging 13L/100kms, for a combined average of 4.45L/100kms (63.5 mpg). At this point it simply doesn't make financial sense to purchase a high priced hybrid to replace my vehicles ...and the scooter is hella' fun to get around on.

Very useful data point. Now of course you need the new Ranger with 2.3 and later, the 2.7 in the mid-size -vs- 2.7 in the F150. I honestly wish that this Maverick and the Ranger both would have aluminum paneling, for even more weight and frankly, salt belt survival. Bed size challenges is the only bit that makes me uncertain. I've never like anything with less then 6'5" setup, though modern full size crew cabs are mostly 5.5 and these smaller are mostly 5. I'm torn on the utility of a 5' bed.

The weight savings = fuel savings you talk about starting around 2:28 is slightly flawed. If all other factors are equal then it's a sound premise, but when you have two different powertrains, gearing, and aerodynamics, it's hard to say for sure that lighter will always equal better economy. Hypothetically, because I'm just playing devil's advocate for discussion's sake: How much fuel does the Maverick 2.0 engine need to get 3500 lbs moving vs how much fuel the F150 3.5 engine needs to get the same 3500 lbs moving? If the larger motor can create power more efficiently it could possibly overcome the added weight of the larger vehicle. Now, whether it does do this or not is a different matter. It's just not quite as simple as lighter = better MPGs, though.

You're looking at EPA estimates. EPA is a US federal agency so what is estimated for the US typical driving conditions (albeit fiction) is going to vary considerably from up in the Martimes. I saw on the cluser it's 26º (C) there in broad daylight in the daytime. In the States, there are quite a few places that won't even dip down to 26º (C) as an overnight low in the summertime. And when you start vehicles here in the States and the inside temp is already over 40º (C) you're going to have to blast the AC just in order to survive the trip. I'm not talking about being comfortable, I'm talking about actually surviving being inside of the truck. And dude, your highways are fricken empty. You stopped at what, one traffic light and gently feathered the throttle? That's not how we drive down here. I love your videos but I still have to strongly contest that your loop is anything like real world down here in the States, particularly in the densely populated major population centers.

@@TheGettyAdventures Hey, Im not trying to say you're doing the test wrong. What I'm trying to say that the driving conditions and environment in Canada are vastly different than typical driving conditions of the large population centers that makes up for the majority of the US population. Hence, the EPA estimates should be substantially worse that what you get in a mild climate with no traffic and using cruise control, something we can't do down here most of the time.

Great it's almost 50% more efficient than a full-sized truck, but having had a unibody truck before (Jeep Comanche) I'll PASS on the fuel savings because once you load it up or it hits wind it's gonna drop dramatically. Plus the towing, hauling and overall comfort (and safety) are nowhere what I'd expect on a full-sized framed vehicle. Turbo engines are pressure cookers... they are great sprinters, but not in it for the long race. The V-6 versions of these turbos are showing promise, but I'm quite unconvinced that a small 4 cyl high revving engine is going to last for the long term given the forces the turbocharging places upon these undersized engines. A total PASS for me on the Maverick. It's truly sad that the governments we elect to represent us are absolutely working CONTRARY to our wishes in Automobiles and Trucks! We want Power, Comfort and Safety, but the Government tells us what we can get, not what we want! Seems they've forgotten who works for who, but perhaps it's WE who still live under the fantasy that Governments are here to serve us, not RULE us! The FEWER systems on a vehicle the FEWER potential Failures... modern vehicles are OBLIVIOUS to this standard of Engineering embraced for Decades, if not CENTURIES!

Start by actually owning one. The 2.0 and especially 2.3 Ecoboost are built to last and the fuel economy is good generally. For the record, there are not many gasoline engines that get good mpgs while towing. I actually get really good mpgs with mine while driving even loaded up or in high winds. Power is actually decent and it doesn't need to rev. Torque is almost instant just off idle and hits hard by 2,000 rpm in the upper acceleration gears. Rarely downshifts out of 8th gear on the highway and the revs are really low for a 4cyl. About 2,000 rpm at 80 mph.
