Can someone help me? I have a 2001 v6 mustang and the water pump bypass pipe is leaking only. Can I just replace the o ring without replacing entire water pump? Any tricks on getting the bypass pump tube out of the water pump if so? Is the system under pressure so I need to drain first?

You will need to drain the systems coolant, Then you will have to take off the Water Pump Pulley to access that tube and then you can replace just the gasket. make sure to follow the directions in this video for reinstall of the tube.

Should just be a pulley puller/installer kit. Most auto stores have one you can borrow

Haynes manuals are not the greatest. Look on page 1-14, that is an olds water pump, NOT A FORD. Shouldn't these books show the parts we are handling. On page 3-7, it says 5.0 but shows a 429/460 water pump. These cars come with BIG motors???.
