Great video. I have a 98 cobra with the t45 and I have bbk long tube headers. To replace the clutch would I just need to loosen one of the headers so the trans would clear the headers. Thanks.

@18:25 I have the same Ford bearing on the left but for a 92 5.0 Mustang. Would it work? The one it has on currently came out and is shorter like the right side bearing.

So a shop installed my MvLeod clutch and flywheel with the throw out bearing lobe on the pivot side, im sure should be on the clutch cable side. Does this really matter? Also ford did issues me another bearing but instead of a lobe or egg shape one it had a dowel pin. What would you suggest i replace it with?

Dang I was hoping I wouldnt have to pull the exhaust I just welded directly in the way. I'll be swapping in a junkyard trans with no history. Rolling the dice hard on this one!

@@itzsopanda3821 4th and 5th were busted haha. Got some good practice tho i just put in a factory rebuilt 3650 and it slid right in there now that i know how to line it up just right. The trick is to grease the splines up and not have the front of the car jacked up too high. I use a 2x4 to support it while i bolt it up so i can get that jack out of my way. Then i run the two longest bolts in to suck it in flat, then back them out and put them all where theyre supposed to go. I also learned that my drive shaft bolts were very loose despite cranking the shit out of them. So locktite and a 12pt socket and impact are needed. The box end wrench isnt gonna hack it. The 99-01 t45 tailshaft housing from the junkyard one is a $300 ebay item, so ill make a few bucks. I also learned that the chchch noise wasnt actually coming from the transmission, but the rear spark plug about to blow out! Sounded like a champaign bottle! 🤣

very nice job. where did you get that shift knob? also on a T-45 how much fluid do you put in, top it? do you grease the outside of the pilot bearing or does it go in dry? once again nice work on the video, very professional.

Shift knob is an old Mach1 knob from Ford Racing. It's been discontinued but you can find replicas easily. T45 fluid capacity is just over 3 qts. Fill it until fluid comes out the fill plug in the side of the trans. Just put a small amount of grease on the TB sleeve and on the splines. The less the better. You don't want the grease on the clutch.

Great video! I think the larger pilot bearing you did not use is the high load style, part M-7600-C.

The larger bearing is the one I used. I used the standard ford racing bearing. The small bearing that I showed was the one that came with the clutch.

$30 for heavy duty throwout bearing. 185$ -220$ for clutch 74$ Shiftfork if needed 20$ fluid My guess you looking at around 350$ I would change rear main seal while I was in there

get the back wheels in the air so it can spin, thats what I had to do as I did mine without a lift.

Replaced my Clutch a few months ago and since then I’ve had a vibration in the clutch pedal where I have to pull up on it with my foot to make it stop. Any idea what went wrong? Did all I could to try and adjust the pedal and nothing.

Are you using an aftermarket firewall adjuster? Sounds like your throwout bearing is bouncing on the clutch fingers causing the vibration.

What torque did you used on the pressure plate apr bolts? I purchased the same bolts for my 2001 mustang bullitt/gt

I think it was 40 or 50 ft lbs. The package had a paper inside with the torque spec.

You did not replaced rear main seal. Is it on purpose ? I always hear to replace it but I am afraid to do it and only do the pilot bearing as you did.

good stuff a 34 min video im guessing took 6 hrs to do in real time....was going mine on the ground yesterday and not fun stuff! my tip rent a uhaul tow dolly ...makes it nice high and safe ! it wont fall on you like jack and jack stands ...

I could probably do it in 3-4hrs without making the video. Just depends on how easy it comes apart. Setting up the camera, lighting, mic, changing camera batteries all takes time. Good point about the Uhaul. Thanks for watching.

I don't see any similarities between this and my 1990 other then clutch cable and drive shaft. Yes T5 and just about any tko 500 or 600 and even tkx have improved this but. Awesome job on video

Is "Valeo" a reputable replacement clutch brand? Is this one of those areas that you don't need Motorcraft parts?

Valeo made the factory clutch for these cars. I'd be willing to bet if you bought a Motorcraft replacement clutch it's probably a Valeo in a Motorcraft box.
