Love this content guys, actual things people can do with quantification on track and not just crazy all out builds. One tip though, its a bit wonky that one side is 1.4 neg camber and the other is 2, in my understanding it is best to be equal in every aspect you can. I understand if you could only get 1.4 but evening it out would balance the front more, especially if its .6 a degree difference
@speedacademy8 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, .5 of a degree is not that big a deal. If you look at how much that is in the real world then you'll quickly see it's not going to do anything wonky to the suspension.

Be careful. I've seen two of those upper poly bushed control arms fail. It needs to twist. Those polly bushing don't twist. If you left the stock rubber in the diff housing you should be ok though.

If you disconnect the rear shocks and let the axle hang 100% then removing the gas tank is not necessary to be able to remove the UCA.

Man I hope those new suspension parts actually help. I'm just worried because you guys already were saying the car was better around the track than the BRZ. Hopefully these upgrades don't affect it negatively. Suspension setups are basically black magic and once they work good I suggest not touching them lol.

Was there a reason you didn't do new lower control arms?
@michaelallen25018 жыл бұрын
I know I would be battling my front lower arms on my 96 Z/28. Instead I bought the cheapest complete oem style arms I could. and pressed out the questionable junk. And pressed in some poly bushings and ACDelco ball joints. Much easier working with clean, new (but shitty) stuff lol.
@ryanrohauer59408 жыл бұрын
Michael Allen thats thw way to go the arm is functional it may not be high strength billet chromoly super skookum but it works and for most of us thats all we want
@aussiebloke6098 жыл бұрын
I thought the rule was for toe-in if you're RWD. Toe-out may give you a lot of darting around under heavy braking as bushing compliance will let the wheels pivot towards the rear a little and add to your toe-out number.
@aussiebloke6098 жыл бұрын
PS: How does a solid axle get to have toe-out? I thought the housing would have to be bent for that to happen, since the axle tubes should (in theory) be perfectly in line with each other across the car. Or am I missing something here?
@speedacademy8 жыл бұрын
From a safety, daily driving standpoint toe-in is good but for performance you want to have a bit of toe out to help with rotation. It does cause a bit of instability at high speeds though. Well worth the trade off.
@speedacademy8 жыл бұрын
In theory it should be perfect but with bearings, bushings, etc. there's always a bit of slop so it can add toe out/in.
@pballer20055 жыл бұрын
so who got to find out that you have to thread the extra long bolts in from the inside of the diff cover AFTER you got it lined up with gasket sealant already on?
@riciardoverbeek3 жыл бұрын
my driverside watsslink bar/rod isnt lined up with the bracket. can i force that in or is something wrong ??
@lukeybabes18 жыл бұрын
How do you have toe out in the rear with a solid axle?
@ryanrohauer59408 жыл бұрын
lukeybabes1 I don't think you can the wheel has to stay mated to the axle, flush. so I can't see any way of adjusting the toe angle and not fucking up the diff or axle bearings
@lukeybabes18 жыл бұрын
Ryan Rohauer that's why I'm asking how they have toe out. Didn't see any joints on the axle shafts they pulled out. So how can there be toe out?
@speedacademy8 жыл бұрын
Because there's always a bit of play in the bearings, axles, etc. so you get a bit of toe out/toe in that occurs.

Speed Academy not knocking thriftiness. But the GT500 arms are really cheap, and the aftermarket ones (not cheap) come with the upgraded bushing you replaced with the whiteline anti-dive kit. Two birds with one stone. I only know because I spend time dream shopping for my S197 😂
