i think these videos are really helpful.. thankyou. One question... earlier on this car you left the primer to dry for a long time before blocking it down. Im doing a classic car now for my dad and wondered what the benefit of this is when im told cellulose primer is dry in like 24 hours.. i see lots of people only etch prime over bare metal and then prime just this area.. its a little confusing why some people prime everything like you did and others just patches.. Thanks for the videos and if you have time to shed some light on my questions it will be appreciated.

If the paint underneath is in good condition there’s no need to primer the whole car , I prime all my higher end work fully so I can block it out but we are using high build 2k primer which if you don’t let dry properly it will sink back after painting so the longer you leave it the better

Good one Tony, like yourself i always in my early days put the first coat on light to avoid any issues but now i have made the rule that i dont use any one pack primer i now only use 2k i found that 2k primer with a small amount of rocket dries in the same time and a little fade out here and there means you dont need to denib around the primer where you had rub through, i also can relate to your comment about learning from your own mistakes, years ago i painted in a factory and i would paint 1,000 parts a day mostly with no issues but on a day when something went wrong you had forgot how to overcome the problem so knowing how to put things right is a skill you must learn and it doesn't come in the instructions

Can help me to understand what a Oxford white base coat would stay shiny after it has dried? Im usong the same gun 20 is psi. Seems like if i spray it like this the panel will be flat but feel like dry spray

I have 2 flg 5 s and 3 tips 1.8 1.4 and 1.3 can I ask your thoughts I havent used them yet what tips would you use for what between the 1.4 and 1.3

1.3 for base and clear mate and 1.8 for primer the 1.4 is abit heavy tbh

One thing for certain---you can't fry paint using basically only air... better safe than sorry. wish I knew this trick earlier since it would have prevented a lot of fried cars for me...

Blimey, 6 Coats! and then the lacquer. I admire you perseverance. How long did it take? I love my direct gloss even more now. 2 coats and done :)

+C Marshall around 3 hoors in total to do but i dont mind as much as it wasnt too fun it still looked alot better than direct gloss and the customer wanted it in base and clear
