Just did this on my 2013 Ford F-150. My steering got tough last week, I was about to buy a new rack for $1800 before trying this. I wasn't sure if it was the eps belt or the motor but I tried and on opening the cover I saw the belt broke I ordered a new one changed and now works like a new one. Thank you very much for the video my friend

Great video. I have a 2013 f-150 the issue is minus temps in manitoba. No steering in the morning, it is literally frozen. Then when it warms up by noon I can steer with no problem ? I have no clue what would cause this. Not having any luck in forums. Would like to save $2000 if a could.

That's a weird one. No screaming or kick back in the steering wheel?
@adamredden2007 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've figured it out by now but it's probably the knuckle on the steering shaft under the hood. Probably time to replace it but a little PB blaster will fix it temporarily.

Wow thank you for the information, I have a 2013 f150 and the steering is starting to get tight on the turns now. Does this sound like one of those symptoms of this belt? I think I will track down one of those belts and order it. Would it be a good idea to lube that screw gear while your in there ? Thanks so much

I went ahead and broke mine down yesterday and sure enough...broken belt. Git one on the way. Your video skipped over the actual belt install. Is it a real pain to get back over the pulleys?
@masonclark5761 Жыл бұрын
No it's pretty easy just make sure it's all cleared out. And insure you have the tensioner pully tight I would test it before I put the cover on to make sure the belt isn't slipping.

What are the symptoms?
@poorboydiy2 жыл бұрын
@robloxperalta All depends if the belt on the inside is starting to go, you will hear it when you make tight turns. Also the longer you wait the worse it gets it will start to pull the wheel out of your hands when you are doing slight turns until the belt blows. Then it will be arm strong steering. One way I found out mine wasn't a bad electric motor, was after it blew, if you start the truck and just touch the steering wheel in either direction you can hear the little electric motor spin then you know the belt has blown.

It's not as easily accessible on the 2016 explorer. Got a ton of water out of the boot. Only 30k. Almost no grease. Some crusty rust. Bolts come out towards the center so might pull the rack. Hoping the fault clears
