Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 Raptor vs Volkswagen Golf 8 R

Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 EcoBoost double cab Raptor 4WD outputs a whopping 292 kW and 583 Nm of torque, which is directed to a permanent 4 wheel drive system, making it the most powerful double cap bakkie you can purchase stock in south africa.
Whereas the Volkswagen Golf 8 R has a 2.0 litre engine which develops 235 kW and 400 Nm of torque, it also is equipped with a 4motion all wheel drive system.
A true story of David verses Goliath, but we know how that story ends.
To see how they stack up, TimesLIVE’s motoring team took the two vehicles to the Gerotek test track near Pretoria for a drag race.

They should have chosen the Golf GTi instead, maybe even the 7.5 GTI. Its front wheel drive so maybe that would have been more fair.

I'd choose the Ford Raptor honestly. It'll take you to beautiful places like Lesotho, Kruger National park etc. Its about peace of mind. The Golf R on the other hand will likely take you to the maintenance court to explain to the judge for not paying papgeld for all the kids you made while driving the Golf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
