Very late reply. I was sitting at a stoplight in my 4.0 ranger when a car pulled up next to me and I was annoyed by their loud exhaust. Until I pulled off and realized my muffler had fallen off.

It popped a lot when it was cold. In person it had a deeper note to it but the video makes the truck sound higher pitch

Hey there, I have a 99 with a muffler delete. I actually like the sound. Owner before me did it. Still has the cats but he had the exhaust dumped out in front of the rear tire right behind the cab. They even notched out the bed and tucked it up tight. All this to ask if you noticed any performance decrease from loss of back pressure. I just lifted it and put 33’s under it. It’s got 4.10 gears and I don’t want to go beyond that. I am just looking for ways to get power back from the added load of the tires.

I didn't notice any difference in power. I kept the CAT as well. The larger tires will definitely make a difference in the get up and go.

Sounds like (obviously) a deeper version of my 3.0 ranger. Mine doesn’t pop at all but it does burble and stuff on decel. Sounds pretty decent and i have fun with it but eventually ill stick the exhaust back on.

The plus side with a muffler delete (make sure to have a pipe welded on in its place) is that if you want to add a muffler or an exhaust then it's no big deal. It cost me $60 to do the muffler delete.

@@Oregun44 thanks for replying ! Yeah I’ve heard people say that too. I might have to end up disconnecting my exhaust anyways because it loops right under the transmission where I’m going to have to replace my clutch, so we’ll see what happens with that!

@@Oregun44 yeah and question if you do a muffler and a resonator delete it would sound hella loud wouldn’t it? Also since you’re cutting from the catalytic converter (cat) and backwards and not touching the cat at all, there should be no lights on the dash and should pass emissions due to nothing touching the cat?? Also I live in FL so no inspection or anything here. When I lived in PA there was but you still could pass with what I said earlier please reply thanks!!🙏

@@imrelentless9577 There were no lights that came on due to the muffler delete. Taking the CAT out would make it very loud and your power would decrease due to lack of back pressure. The exhaust will sound more ricey and clinky if you don't have a pipe added on in it's replacement. So don't have the exhaust come straight off where the muffler was. I never took the resonator off but maybe the muffler and resonator are a 2 in 1. You would save a lot of time just cutting off the muffler and replacing it with a pipe.

I'm sure it would still pop but it won't do it as much since every time you let off the throttle the truck will shift.

I’ve owned a 2.5 Subaru Forester 5-speed Manual, muffler delete and sounded phenomenal in my opinion until I flipped it lol… but I don’t know if I should just cut the muffler off myself, keep the catalytic converter(s) or have someone weld a pipe to the exhaust exit for better appearance. Also, love the sound of your Ranger man 🤘🏼

@@soyouveheard2851 typically rolling vehicles make one last final pop and bang lol. I wouldn't get rid of the cat, I would get the muffler taken off and a pipe welding on in its place. The sound is deeper and less rattly. Sadly I had to get rid of the ranger for a bigger truck

Hey I got my muffler of and the exhaust is flowing right out of the resonator and it has drone. How do I reduce drone

First i would make sure the resonator is tightened down all the way, secondly make sure you weld / clamp on a pipe where the muffler used to be, otherwise the sound will be coming out under the truck and you will have a drone

I loved the sound of my muffler delete and it's cheaper. That being said I think it's not a bad idea to try the muffler delete first because you will have to do it regardless if you want the flowmaster

How do you get it to pop so much?!? I got a side pipe with no muffler on but it Dosent bang nearly as loud as that

It would only pop like that when the engine was cold. Once it was warm the pops got much quieter. If you are wanting a start up "bbbrrraaaapppp" then you pump the gas pedal twice before starting and give the throttle 1/4 as you start and release. While driving I would be in either second or 3rd (while the engine is still cold) and rev it out to 4-5k and let off quickly. Also if you are going down hill and you are in either 2nd or 3rd and do the same thing, it will pop for awhile.

Yea it’s a 4.0 automatic Ik it won’t pop as crazy w a auto but I made the pipe come out like a side exit In front of the tire i just want it to be louder

@@gabrielpoirier5268 Fuck yeah dude! I'm glad to have helped you in your decision. Come winter you will notice more rumbling and popping too. When you first start it up have the throttle down about a 1/4 way or so and once it starts let off. You will get a nice "bbbrraaappp" like the start of my video
