Your information is very helpful. However, a closer view of the two different sensors and their locations would have been welcome.

I often wonder about the U code and V code 3.0 The parts store says I need to know to get the right part BUT I have 2 - 2002 rangers 3.0 one with U code and one with V code and as far as I can tell there is no difference in any part on either truck down to the injectors. Just wondering if any one has any input on that subject. The only thing I can think is that the GEM box is different on each as one has electric windows and door locks other than that they have Identical parts.
@chasingmustangs4 жыл бұрын
V was a flex fuel model. Probably the only difference is related to the ability to use E15 fuel.

You shouldn’t use Teflon tape. You may use Permatex high temp sealant . Many times you need no sealer .

I have to replace the orange plug sensor. What is that sensor called? I accidentally broke the top off. Is it possible to drive the truck to ten min down the road to get the sensor as well?
@chasingmustangs4 жыл бұрын
As you are looking at the engine from the front, is it the sensor on the right or left. If it is the one right, it is the switch/sender. The one on the right only control the temperature gauge in the truck. Part number is www.autozone.com/engine-management/temperature-switch/duralast-temperature-switch-tu241/195656_385179_0. The one of the left is the sensor, and is used by the computer. Part number is www.autozone.com/engine-management/coolant-temperature-sensor&filterByKeyWord=tempature+sensor&fromString=search&isIgnoreVehicle=false. Do not drive the truck, if you broke the one on the left. The one on the right only has one wire (sender/switch) and the one of the left (sensor) has two wires. If you look at the pictures of the parts, they look different. You can remove the unit and see which one you broke, by the picture. Hope this helps.

Maybe you can help me... I replaced the temp coolant sensor as well but when I reinstalled I over torqued the sensor which ruptured the aluminum housing. Now I have a huge coolant leak. Do you have any idea what that housing that has the two sensors and the thermostat is called? Hopefully someone can help.
@@chasingmustangs do you know where the air temp sensor is it's not on the intake tube like most

Should be part of the MAF sensor. It's not an independent sensor on the 3.0.

No, the 2.5 is an odd engine and the sensors are located in a different location.

www.autozone.com/engine-management/coolant-temperature-sensor/duralast-coolant-temperature-sensor/136521_0_0 part number and www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-DY-1144-Engine-Coolant-Temperature/dp/B0035QZ12I/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_263_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=HX7CPDCGAZMAPZ53CHCC. Just double check these parts work for your truck. Autozone only has the sender in old stock. They don't always have the part. Autozone called the part Temperature gauge sensor, so I would order the part from Amazon.

Why do you have to drain the radiator fluid before installing the sensor? I've read that on multiple forums. Also, just a recommendation, less music and more instruction in your videos.
@chasingmustangs3 жыл бұрын
The coolant will spill out the sensor hole when you remove the sensor. The pressure from the heater hoses will spill out about 1/3 of the coolant. You could probably get away with draining just half the coolant. I know longer put music on my videos. I stopped doing that over a year ago. Thanks

Which is the sender? I’m trying to replace the one with the orange plug
@thatoneshortboi4 жыл бұрын
The Leader the orange plug is the SENDER (this sends the signal to the instrument cluster that’s it) the gray plug is the SENSOR (this communicates to the actual PCM of the vehicle)
