It's time to see how much quicker the petrol V6 Ranger Raptor is against the V6 diesel Wildtrak and the 4-cylinder Wildtrak! Paul Maric lines them up for a drag race and then does some performance testing with the Ranger Raptor to see how quick it is from 0-100 and across the 1/4 mile.

Two things come to mind: 1) I don't think I've ever seen Paul this animated about any car he's reviewed prior - the excitement is hilarious 2) To further the excitement, Paul I think you need to run the same performance tests but this time with more road oriented rubber. I'm genuinely curious to see how this thing will go with performance tyres on it.

@@__PJ__ more power and higher efficiency with the modern V6’s makes them a no brainer. My mate with a V8 Patrol doing 38L/100km towing a caravan is nearly up with the B-Doubles. I was doing 22L/100km in my Ranger with a caravan behind. I would imagine the new V6 Rangers and Landcruisers will be below 20L/100km towing at 100kph.

The Ranger content is great! I'd love to see a drag comparison between a PX3 Ranger Wildtrak Bi-Turbo, up against the new Ranger Wildtrak 4 cylinder. It'd be an interesting comparison, as the new Ranger has put on a few kg's, but the engine & transmission have supposedly been "tweaked". I'm still deciding between the 4 cylinder & the V6 when it's time to update. I'm really impressed with my current PX3 Wildtrak 2 litre & wonder if the V6 is really worth the extra coin.

The 4cyl is all one needs. The 6 cyl is actually north ita price tag. The raptor obviously is in a different class. The 4cyl engine is one mighty setup.

Yeah I’d agree. I’ve got the superseded wildtrak with the biturbo, and I’ve never once felt like it was missing anything, and that includes towing. And it’s awesome on fuel on a trip.

Think the Raptor alternator has got a higher output rating. Not sure, but with the overhead accessory switch console, think that was taken into account by Ford.

I have been running Cooper 20 inch Xeon tyres for 220000 klm on my Wildtrack and have found them to be great tyres obtaining around 85000 per set, this is what I’m looking at putting on my raptor. I think they may have better traction that the K2’s
