It's surprising how fast both of these cars actually are. Just think about it, a stock Torana GTR XU1 did a quarter mile in about 16 seconds and a stock Falcon GTHO Phase 3 did it in about 14.5 seconds. I know both were manuals but really, how fast do you need these utes to be.

Would be interesting to see a towing test between the 4 and 6 cylinders aswell Paul. A couple of 3t vans in the hills would be a good test for these Rangers! A torque test rather than just off the mark power. Might also be a good chance to show the integrated trailer controllers in operation too. What do you think?

From my experience with the v6 engines in my Disco's do better just doing a straight launch, no holding on the breaks. I have the Ranger with the Bi-turbo and a disco with the v6, both tow the a 2.5t load well, the difference is the v6 has plenty of torque in reserve for the long hills. Let's hope Ford has sorted some reliability issues for the v6.

It sounds like a lot of people waiting for this car will be devastated to find out it's nowhere as quick as the current V6 Amarok. By all means do the test but the stats show the Amarok TDI580 at 0-100 in 7.3 Seconds. It's worth noting though that the TDI580 uses overboost to pump peak power to 200KW but can only do this for 10 seconds. So in reality it's not 200KW in the purist form but for overtaking and 0-100 sprints comes in handy. The current Amarok V6 is a highly under rated car. On road it drives so much better than anything else on the market today and we spend most of out time on road.

My 2.0l bi turbo is getting 8.4L per 100 The v6 is not going to be very good on fuel, if I could of waited 6 months for a car I would have but I needed one now. So far I’m pretty happy. I’ve put the raptor racechip in it and pretty happy with its performance now it’s fitted. Realistically I don’t know when I actual need heaps of power so saving a bit on fuel is keeping me happy. Really want to see a comparison to current Amarok. Really need to be sure I don’t go backwards when current Amarok is due to be changed.

Tail gate down is actually worse for wind resistance. This has been tested many many times. Also the guy doing the countdown was doing nothing to help the test by a horrible inconsistent countdown...

All these in car ranger videos i have noticed how the drivers are having to always be moving the steering wheel to keep it tracking straight. Is the steering very light ?? or not tracking very well

I'd be happy with 0-100 8.3sec in that, AT tyres and wet.

Correct me if I'm wrong the new Ford 2.0 bi turbo is slower than the Isuzu DMAX x-terrain. That would be an interesting drag race

Didn't myth busters bust the tailgate up being a disadvantage?! Something about the tray filling up with air and creating a cushion for the air passing over the top.

Did you notice the section that holds the string is badly covered on the Wildtracker? What is going on there?

Should of swapped trucks and do a few runs on the drag ,your be surprised how driver errors can make all the difference, not saying by any means the other guy has errors, it's all down to response times ,we tested this in our gun club with different firearms and swapped shooters also the school I work at got their own F1 racing team on the Co2 tracks and there's a lot of difference between a timed start a remote start and swap driver start 👍👍

I guess the straight up drag race is good, but what about a real towing comparison. These both have good credentials for towing, but it would be good to see how good they are. And not just towing 2000kgs, a real test, with vans weighing at least 3000kgs - 3300kgs would be better. There are videos out there with the old models, seeing these new versions would be great.

You did an extra run in the V6. The Wildtrak didn’t get the 4H ESC off run.

I like the v6 my only issue is are the reliable. The range rovers before had a lot of issues. You know how much they love tow trucks
