Offset forks are for the 1350. Straight forks are for the 1354. Short forks are for TK5 and FM145. Long forks for fm146 A4LD and M5OD.

You seem to know quickly a bit about these things. Maybe you can help me, what would need to be done to a m50d R1hd to change it from 2w to 4 wheel drive trans? What all is inside a 4w tailcone? Thanks

I'm not totally sure, but I think at least the output shaft also has to be changed. I have a few transmissions to pull apart someday to find out. I also want to put gears from a 3.0 transmission in my 4.0 case so I can get the lower 1 thru 3 gears.

I have a 94 ranger. Manual transmission and manual tranfer. The transmission has just been rebuilt and the rear end has no issues. But the truck will only drive in 4 low. Some times if you go down hill and pop it in 2 wheel it will go for a short distance and stop. Any ideas on what could be going on? Thanks.

Make sure the shifter linkage is adjusted properly. It might not be letting it shift into all the gears correctly. Especally if it started right after pulling the transmission because the linkage had to be removed and re installed

@charliesosa5299 it can but the front driveshaft will be different. You will also need to make sure you get the correct shifter linkage to match the transmission and t case.

What does it take to put a 6 pinion into a 1350? Does it go right in or is it more complicated than that?

It pretty much dropped right in. You might have to use the 1354 shift fork as well. It was like 15 years ago when I did it, and I don't remember all the details. I know I used whatever parts I had between the two cases, and I didn't need any special machining to make it work. I also used the parts out of an electric shift 1354 to put into my manual 1350 case.

What issue would there be to adapt? If you're thinking front driveshaft go talk to a driveshaft shop to build one with the older transfer case side and front to match the 98.

@@ponyboi.gamer36 I was thinking the hard parts in the transfer case itself. I know the way the front driveshaft mounts to it is different -97 to 98-11

1354 to 1354 should be same internals minus the shift mechanism. The outter case on the manual shift is different too but bolting up the older one shouldn't be an issue as the A4ld and 4r or 5r auto trans all have the same output spline and bolt pattern. You would be better off just bolting the older 1354 to the newer trans

You will need to convert the transmission to 4wd or swap it out. A 1354 case. Then if you want to use all the factory front suspension you also need to swap the motor crossmember.

Check to make sure the shifter is adjusted correctly. If that isn't the problem then it is probably something internal that is binding.

One is a 1350 and one is a 1354. I have never messed with the electric shift version. On the manual cases they have a speedo and a shift light switch on them.
