I just sold my 2.0SiT Auto XLT 4x4 Ranger and bought a new Navara. The Ranger broke down 4 times and was at the dealers for 2 weeks. I've lost all faith in Ford and will never own a Ford again. I'm so happy with the Navara... In South Africa we've gone back to the YD25 engine. Still with 140kw / 450N.m. The 7speed gearbox is much better than the 10speed in the Ford. Torque lockup is faster on the Navara. The Rangers' 10 gears is just too much. The Rangers' gearbox feels 'fussy'', yes.

nav is a better looking and far better 4wd than the ranger , also for what you get the ranger coz you at least 10k more than a nav , i would buy the base model nav 4x4 with the twin turbo and then get a better suspension kit and a 2 or 4 inch lift kit then buy a a aftermarket radio with off road maps spend ur money on the things to make it better off road then you will have a beast of a nav , that gril on the nav look so big and mean ,better looking all than a ranger

Average 4WD calibration in the Navara, can't activate difflock in 2H or 4H.. Ranger is 10yrs old and Still the most refined and better handling, even though it has leafs in the rear. Hope Nissan finally have the rear end sorted

Just what I was thinking! Nearly all of these 'pro Ford' reviews never mention the regular trans issues the Ranger suffers. There are some Ranger horror stories out there if you do a bit of research. One guys was telling me of a Ranger going through 3 transmissions in under 140k

Navaras turning circle is 1.3metres smaller than the Ranger, no one mentions that, or how awesome the Navaras anti sway function works if you are towing a caravan! it's AMAZING!

I’d have to say this review was heavily favouring the “local made Aussie truck” you could tell the way they were speaking the ranger was going to come out on top. I am Genuinely in the market at the moment and have both options in my decision but this review was horrible to listen to.

Even if you did want to carry over 650kg of load in the back then the Navara is much better than the earlier models as it doesn't really sag that much now so the Navara is good in pretty much all the categories.

As a 4wder the navara shits on everything in this segment. It's the only choice for anyone wanting to go 4 wheel driving and we know it. Just see how many rangers ect you find on being used for 4wding on KZbin... but you will find endless np300's.. Australians now the navara knocks of the ranger and everything in this class for its purpose, check out youtube see for yourself, the boys know which is best, navara isnt used for just supermarket road runs like this crowd thinks, if your buying a 4x4, maybe it is to be used for this!

I put in the effort to find info, they have a good rep and reach high k's without problems, after the zd30 I wasn't taking any chances. They have been around for some time in Europe. Plenty of grunt' mine gets past my mates 2019 ranger when we are on the way home from work fairly easy, although his is meant to have more grunt. There is a video on youtube nav, ranger, triton ect doing quarter mile in review. The only one quicker than nav was triton which funny enough is rated least power of all the dual cabs.

The real test is years relentless mountain goat farm tracks and to be perfectly honest l wouldn't be comfortable with anything on the market these days, including these two. Both built with creature comfort in mind and excessively complicated under the bonnet. For my money here it would be the Ranger due to the 139.7x6 bolt pattern, but thats about the only real advantage, especially for heavy towing.

@@carsales I drove 10 utes back to crack including the XLT and Wildtrak and other than the more spacious cabin, it didn’t stand out. For $71k you can get a Navara Warrior that already has bigger off-road wheels and tires, suspension lift, and all the additional engineering behind it plus backed by a factory warranty.

In South Africa the Navara comes with Progressive coil springs, adapted for African conditions. I'm sure it can be done there. Aftermarket coils from OME should improve a coil sprung setup more than the leaf setup. But, yes standard the Ford suspension is superior. For the rest, I prefer the Navara.

@Johan Britz The Range = Overrated & unreliable in South Africa. I had both, 2020 Ranger 2.0 auto 4x4 and now 2021 Navara 2.5DDti auto 4x4. I just love the Navara. Maybe the ''built in Thailand" Rangers are better. There was a report about quality improvements on their Rangers. The score was 400 per 1000 faults on their Rangers, and they would address the quality issues and improve on that. Don't know what our South African built Rangers would be like. My guess would be worse...
