TIRE SIZE IS IMPROPERLY USED HERE. For example. It requires more torque to rotate a taller heavier tire. Yes you will be faster on perfectly flat ground but the second you are up against an obstacle or an incline the power will lag input will lag more with a taller tire. This is where the torque converter will allow a taller tire to creep along slightly slower than a shorter tire. Which would respond more quickly to power input. So a taller tire can be smoother on the trail.

Well duh, my Ram's have all had V8's and sound wonderful, strong, and convey the V8 with actual V8 sound. The Ram on my profile picture was just recently sold, it had the Viper V10, and again, sounds like it should. The only truck in this video with a puny sounding exhaust is the Ford, because no V6 can ever sound like a V8, no matter how much engineering you pour into it. They can get close to, but a person with a trained ear and love of trucks, can hear the lack of a V8 coming from the tailpipe. I'm not dogging on the Raptor as a whole, just this particular model and years where they dropped the V8 for the turbo V6, a large part of the community of Ford lovers were also upset about it, and if I heard correctly somewhere, Ford is planning on putting a V8 back into the Raptor. The Raptor is a purpose built truck, to go fast on uneven terrain, and it does so very well. Only finally, soon, Ram will release a solid competitor to the Raptor, even if it's nearly a decade too late. Haha.
@bossman9275 жыл бұрын
@@mrnine324 how are trucks supposed to sound and according to WHO? Everyone has different taste and likes. I am part of that Ford community and the raptor is an incredible truck and I happen to like how it sounds as tons of people also do. And the best thing is that we dont have to worry about rust anymore. Those rams are the rusties trucks out there. I've seed two 2015s and a 16 in town with rust already. So I think I'll stick to my winnie sounding truck lol. Oh by the way, dodge already made a "competitor" for the raptor its called a rebel, how did that work out? Lol
@mrnine3245 жыл бұрын
You know, I had a gut feeling that you were one of those snowflakes that gets offended by someone else's opinion. Well, I also assume you are from the north states, hence the rust you see. Down here where I'm from, there are no rusted Rams, except maybe ones that are over 25 years old. The Rebel you mention was NOT meant to be the competitor by any means, it was only the 1/2 ton version of our Powerwagon, even though it lost a lot of the great parts that make the Powerwagon what it is. The one I'm talking about hasn't been produced yet, the Ram Rebel TRX, with the Hellcat engine, giant tires, and likely Fox shocks with insane amounts of travel. This will be built specifically for the same terrain the Raptor was built for, so it will be a direct competitor. Anyways, back to V8 and sound. Since you can't pick up on cues regarding opinion, yes, it is MY opinion that all full-size trucks should have V8's, and sound like V8's. The Raptor, in MY opinion, sounds like a mid-size truck that wishes to be a Honda Civic with a that stupid looking 6inch tailpipe fartcan. Oh, and by the way, Aluminum may not rust, but it does corrode, and pits. So, while steel trucks may be rusting, yours will be looking like grandma's hard crusty white bunion feet.

Arnold Corriette i get there is a lot of loyal Toyota fans but the truth is that Toyota is not up to par anymore. Back in 2007-2010 the Tundra was the 1/2 ton truck to beat. No other 1/2 ton came close during that time. But as time went on all the other competitors caught up and surpassed it. Ford, Chevy and Ram invest a lot of their money into large SUV and full size trucks so it’s pretty apparent. I like the Tundra too but just got to admit it, it is no longer the truck to beat. They still have their reliability, just not in the performance category anymore. The zr2 have also outperform the Tacoma as well.

With an auto trans your torque converter also has a lot to due with your results the way you did that. Try holding each truck at steady 1000 or 1200 RPM for a set distance. Then you’ll truly know which one has the lowest crawl speed by which truck goes the slowest at the same RPM
@insomniacryan99164 жыл бұрын
The Raptor is so damn impressive. Dead heat with the Chevy, but with larger tires (a good thing off-road) and of course, that simply obscene high-speed performance. ‘Arguably’ the best full-sized off-road truck? The only reason anyone says that nonsense is almost no other vehicle segment has a single vehicle with this kind of dominance. It’s the best off-road truck ever built by an absolutely humiliating margin. Shoutout to the Power Wagon, which actually IS arguably the better rock crawler. Respect.
@thomaspaul24655 жыл бұрын
Man these trucks are incredibly boring. These things will be obsolete in 2020. Ford and GM will be the first to go bankrupt, they already are. FCA will try to hold on but even their 707hp suv is outclassed by the Model X. The new roadster with rocket boosters will accelerate as fast as a human being can keep from passing out, otherwise it can go faster. And for cheaper than a Porsche. Most EV channels get more views than this and all they do is talk EV’s. These manufacturers need to wake up, absolute garbage. Same platform for 20 plus years. Ridiculous.

I just really think that your testing of the vehicles for off-road is not real life tests for example knowing clearances is good and all that but the reality is we wanna push the trucks to the limits. I know not everybody will aggressively drive there rigs but when people like you test vehicles to there limit it helps consumers like us know in reality what our rigs are capable of
@dpce865 жыл бұрын
You can do the math to get the final crawl ratio, but the amount of slippage in the torque converter will be a significant factor in how slow the truck will crawl when idling. So the most inefficient converter design could potentially win this particular test, meaning the largest speed differential between transmission input shaft versus output shaft speeds.
@kenwelsh41895 жыл бұрын

I have a 2014 Ram quad cab with the Hemi engine and a 3.55 rear end. I also have timbrins installed on the rear suspension to control squat. I have a 32' camper that weighs 6300 pounds. I believe the tow rating on my truck is 8650 lbs. I also have a weight distribution system. Can I tow this camper safely with my 1500, or do I need a 2500. I have heard many different answers from people I have asked, so I am confused. I need help from people that know about this first hand. I cant think of anyone better that could answer this for me. PLEASE HELP !!......PS I love watching your videos. I would REALLY appreciate your help. Thank you

Not that I care about the Tundra but it would have been nice to compare.
