Ford Superduty Sputtering V10

I ramble on about my repair and diagnosing a sputtering 6.8L V10 in my 2003 Ford F250 4x4 CCSB. SPOILER ALERT is was a faulty brand new fuel pump.
Issue: Truck dies, Crank no start, No fuel pressure, power at the pump
1. Replaced fuel pump, and filter(good for a couple days begins to sputter over 2300 RPM)
2. Replace MAF, and Air filter(not fixed)
3. Replaced both "upstream" 02 sensors(not fixed)
4. Replaced Fuel pres. regulator(not fixed)
5. Replaced 1 week old fuel pump
FIXED sputter and better MPG than before issue

Lots of great info here! Have had lots of aftermarket fuel pumps on fords fail, run a season or two and die. They seem to like OEM.

@@KaputyINC I have a 2000 we have put several aftermarket parts on it and it’s rejected them all so I just stick to OEM parts

My battery died today I had to buy another $200 battery and the problem I'm having is when I give it gas it sputtering and you can hear it almost sounds like it's misfiring how do I go about troubleshooting my 2000 Ford F350 10 cylinder that has the Triton engine?? Please help me

Hi, great info. I have a question that you might be able to help me with... I have Limited Excursion V10, and when I'm moving right along the road and I hit 45-55MPH my engine and take my foot off the gas pedal the motor starts to sputter and the engine seems like its gonna cut out on me. When I give it gas and pass 50-60MPH the sputtering stops. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is??? Any suggestions?

I've been learning that exhaust leaks at the manifold can have an effect on how the o2 sensors read, if you have the common manifold leak maybe that having an effect. If it's only in a certain MPH range maybe the trans has something to do with it, keep track of the rpm and try letting off at that rpm while holding the trans in a lower gear maybe and see if its rpm specific or not. I'm having a sputtering issue with one of my other v10 trucks that's being caused by coolant leaking from the inake manifold, getting into the sparkplug holes by the boots and screwing with spark, I get a CEL for misfire though.

@@KaputyINC Thank you for your reply. I'm pretty sure it is not the trans. I think it has something to do with the #5 plugs. When I replaced the plugs I noticed that the #5 was wet, as in nearly muddy... I have a feeling the previous owner had it repaired and whoever did it failed to tighten them. Matter of fact, they even placed some sort of tape to bolt to hold it down. I replaced the plugs with a new set, hoping it'll help... but to no avail. Could it still be dirty inside? #5 is just a bitch to get into. I was also thinking it might also be a spark plug wire or injector wire problem? Any thoughts? I really appreciate your reply. @@my66k are you getting a check engine light? It could be a coil going bad. You should have coil on plug ignition. You could try to just replace that coil or swap it to a different cylinder and see if the problem moves. I have 0 experience with injectors.

That sounds exactly like what is going on with mine. I have a brand new fuel pump, but I bet it is no good. I will let you know tomorrow.

Always only used ford fuel pumps on my fords and never had these issues. Not to mention V10s flow a lot of fuel.

I think that's good advice, I've got a couple V10 rigs and if i have another go bad it'll be a a ford replacement.
