Had the same issue with reseting the open loop on a Kuga before I had to end up doing a Forced regeneration to drop the open loop didnt last long and because the DPF was clean and pressure was low at that point 👍🏽

Forscan or Ford IDS will do the reset the closed loop is your problem. Closed loop is for Regeneration if you done a Regen closed loop would have came down also.

The launch scan tool has an intelligent diagnose function, does this only work on vehicles or can it be connected to some of the 'mechanics' that have attempted to work on vehicles before they get to you? Be good to get a tool to diagnose good mechanics' from others???

My thinktool and launch have an "online reset" and a normal reset. If you are connected to Internet it just works and clears codes and does regen etc. No Internet, wont do those function's.

In my experience these 2.0L diesels in fords got a terrible electric thermostat that likes to fail. And then in most cases without much of a warning the head gasket goes by by..😢

These engines are junk regardless. -Wet timing belt 😭 -Love to develop exhaust manifold leaks. -Turbos aren't the best either. Ford is just not good at building engines. Over in the US they have so much trouble with all new Ford engines its unbelievable.

Locked accesses seem to be the intended target of manufacturers - don't give access to anyone outside the dealership. If that continues and there is no work around it, not only you, but all independent mechanics will have one foot out of the job, leaving only room to purely mechanic jobs, which is outrageous.

The only thing that comes with it is that car manufacturers have to put more effort into developing the software with all these restrictions and locked accesses, which just makes it more complicated for everyone to use. I mean every normal person who has no clue about cars goes to the mechanics/dealers anyway. And everyone else who works on the cars themselves will continue to do everything themselves. They don't let something like that stop them from doing stuff on their cars either. They find a way around that.

It's hard to know which company make the worst and most troublesome vehicles between Ford and Volkswagen nowadays. Ford's engines made out of old shoe boxes and custard......or VW vans that decide to go into limp mode and light up the dash every 20 miles because it dosent like the colour of the sky that day.

It seems that they make our lives with them harder with every new model year 😩 Locking us out with security access bullcrap is just the peak of the iceberg I recon the future with these vehicles is bleak... Not giving up my 17 year old Volvo V70 with the D5 Diesel 😅 Anything newer is just a downgrade

😂 Nah. Mercedes is the king right now. At least the ones we get here in Germany are. They ride really well, they are the most trouble free vans when you keep them serviced well. A brand new basemodel Vito is 26k too unbeatable price. The OM654 engine they all have is a weakspot (timing chain, small 2L) but so are all these tiny engines in these Vans. At least with Mercedes you don't have a piece of shit wet belt. Also you can get them with low output engine tunes like 102hp and 136hp and that helps them last longer and run cooler. There is no Van these days that's perfect. They all have their issues.
