Well done I cured my BMW 330d's DPF around ten years ago. Had dealer software on my laptop and just put wynns diesel gold treatment in the tank and went on a 2hr motorway drive. Watched the back pressure drop from around 140 mbar to about 15 and it let me reset the active regen sequence. Job done. Since then Ive been sure use wynns gold or more recently dipetane on a regular basis. Saves alot of heartache😊

When my brother had this on his mondeo. Ford quoted an air flow meter and dpf as the cause = $9000aud = muppets. I got involved. The dpf was blocked technically. But the back of the car was covered in soot. So i removed the dpf and flushed it. 5% flow to 98%. Then checked over. Car was over fueling and oil leaking from the front bar. Last I checked, there wasn't anything holding oil in the bumper = boost hose was torn =airflow meter fault and oil leak! Then after a week of driving. Dpf was struggling again with regen unable = blocked fuel vapouriser as you have. If we followed ford. We would have been $9000 in the hole before the intercooler hose and vapouriser would have even been investigated, let alone, found. BTW, i removed the glow plug and cleaned the vapouriser in a zip lock bag filled with intake cleaner. Put into an ultrasonic bath = spotless and running strong another 100k km later.

And this is why I do my own maintenance as garages either don't know how to fix the cars they sell or don't give a damn, or more likely, want to rip off unsuspecting punters by unnecessarily putting in new parts. My mother thought she heard a scraping noise from a wheel and brought her car to a local garage last year when I had covid and couldn't help. They told her the noise from her rear wheel was a bearing. I told her to leave it until I was better so I could have a look at it. So I did and was it the bearing???? No it was the dust shield at the back of the brake caliper that was rubbing on the disc. I pushed it back into shape and hey presto, noise gone. Saved her the 300 quid they wanted for a new bearing fitted......which in itself was a monumental rip off.

We had similar issues with our work transit a few years back. Finding someone like yourself who actually understands the system, is like finding a needle in a haystack. Ye I agree my transit custom kept going back to garage because of dpf issue they just did a forced regen and send me on my way, turns out the forced regens were never completing only getting to 60% and stopping. So they got it mapped out as they didn't know what the problem was. Looking at your videos I think it could of been a vaporizer. If only I had found your videos sooner

It seems to be the reason for most breakdowns these days with people having problems with the Particulate Filter system and it's sensors. I few years ago looking around for a family car I bumped into an old school friend at a car sales place, he now has his own garage and was looking for a small car for his wife, he told me that there was a ford C-Max at the back that had been sold a few times but returned, he told me it should be £4,000 but they will take £1,000 sold as seen. What wrong with it was that it had a block EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve, I asked my friend how easy was it to repair, the official way is about at £1,000, the unofficial is £10. So I paid the garage £1,000 and my friend and I fitted a thick blanking plate to the EGR valve and he turned the amber check engine light off and it ran perfectly and drove well for a car with only 55,000 miles on the clock, I put it through it's MOT and got told by the testing station that it's emissions levels where lower than standard. When it got to 125,000 miles, a neighbour offer me a £1,000 when I mentioned I was thinking of getting a newer car, so sold it him a few weeks later the turbo went on it so we when to the scrap yard and found an identical one off a very low mileage Mondeo and helped him to fit it, the C-Max is now up to 150,000, and still running well and passing it's MOT.

My boss, an undertaker, had a Vauxhall Vivaro with the same issue. It came back after an MOT and would not go over 30 mph. It had done 79000 miles, and only ever lightly loaded. The garage said it would cost £1300 to fix, so he got rid of it and bought a Mercedes van instead. Modern diesels, with so many of these gadgets fitted, are a damn nuisance.

Fscinating! Never watched your videos before, but have been searching for information on DPFs and diesel engines, as I've been looking at a Citroen Berlingo automatic, that only comes with their diesel engine. I barely drive 3,000-4,000 miles per year (recently retired), much of which is urban - I do very few long, hard drives. Looking at this video makes me think I probably shouldn't go near a diesel car!
@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN Жыл бұрын
Funny enough I watched a video a while back when a question was asked to a Mechanic 'should I get a diesel or petrol vehicle' his reply was 'low miles and short runs, petrol...high miles and long runs, diesel' This made sense to me. My 30 year Old camper is a diesel, no fancy electronics, DPF or EGR valve and in five years I've had no engine issues. I don't do High mileage 1200 miles per year on average and 95% of the time, no more than a 5 mile round trips; the other 5% could be hundreds of miles once or twice a year. I don't think that would work Good for a modern diesel but then again, it could be a case of 18000 miles of motoring like this before a modern diesel would show signs of problems, that would be 15 years of motoring for me. As long as the diesel engine and components were in Good shape to begin with, I could be fine with a newer diesel. I owned an automatic once, I prefer manual for many reasons. Why the need for an automatic David if you don't mind me asking.

Depends but at some point, yes, the ash buildup that can't be burnt off remains stuck and needs to be cleaned out, or DPF replaced.
@MiracleMitch Жыл бұрын
It used to be the case but now as long as the DPF has not overheated and the filter inside not melted it will survive several cleans and therefore no longer needs replacing after 100k or 150k (my VW TDI has a 150k DPF replacement recommendation or sooner if the ash content is at a certain saturation level). No reason why a periodically cleaned DPF should not last the life of the car / van if well maintained. Like all parts, age can cause wear and tear and reduced efficiency and replacement may be the only option in such cases.

Not the best thing, running an air cooled engine bay doing an intentional overheat in a parking lot. I believe most manufacturers recommend driving at 40mph as it runs.
@michaeljohnson1006 Жыл бұрын
@@alexbrown1050 The engine water temperature seemed to stay at the normal temperature range not sure about oil temp as no gauge. I would think a lot of the heat would be in the exhaust dpf? The thing about the transit is it doesn't tell you it's doing the regen so most people might just be sitting in traffic at 25-30 mph or even sitting with the engine ticking over. Seems crazy to have no warning on the information displayed almost like fors wants the DPfs to get blocked up so they can sell new ones?

When you have finished a clean on a dpf and you tell the ecu that the dpf has been replaced. What does that achieve? Does it have to recalculate the ash that isnt removed? If you do the clean but don't tell the ecu the dpf has been replaced what would happen? Thanks. Love the videos

When the dpf gets blocked the fault is now locked in and clearing it won't work. Values won't come down without reset the values. If the dpf is still blocked the values will rise back up within 50 miles and lock again. When the dpf pressure is back to normal its safe to reset adaptions on the values. Resetting it with a blocked dpf can cause dangerous overheating

@@ORileysAutos another quick one... If the dpf is nearly full as in just before a normal regen kicks in will the pressure show higher that when you say it needs to be around 50mbar? For normal cycles of the dpf I mean. Thank you
@ORileysAutos Жыл бұрын
@jonathanmason7788 each vehicle is programmed differently but I'd say a normal regen is activated between 10-20mbar idle pressure

@@ORileysAutos OK, I gave mine a clean using your method going through the adblue injector. (I was getting p200200) I reset the dpf and ash mass went to zero. I then panicked and wondered if there would be a calculation that may muck up the dpf as there would be ash solids in there. So I change the ash mass back to 25 (it was 50) and have been monitoring the dpf on my commute. When empty it's reading about 5mbar it's near 80% now and it's reading 20 - 24 mbars at idle.

Hey mate, I've got a Nissan navara 2.5 diesel that had a very leaky turbo. I've replaced it but now the dpf is blocked and is in limp mode. Is my only choice taking it somewhere to have a forced Regen done or would I can of dpf cleaner get it clean enough that it'll do a Regen by itself ?

Great content mate, can I ask you what is that diagnostic tool you use? I look to purchase Icar soft ones, but yours looks like it's a software on tablet which I like better. Cheers and keep up the good work.
Hello. Launch manual says that liquid should shoot in the dpf when idling. Have you tested is there a difference betwewn that style and your style when the liquid can stand still in dpf a while before engine running.
@ORileysAutos Жыл бұрын
Yes it has slower results and slightly less affective but depends on the vehicle in question sometimes it has to be done with engine running

Several of your videos has clearly shown me how to deal with dpf issues. However the dpf gun you use is quite expensive. Do you think a Shultz gun would do the same ?

My older shape 2014 transit I bought off a fleet operator who amazingly supplied Aldi and had their own fleet , the transit was for fixing the scania lorries , anyway it’d had loads spent, new turbo dpf and all sorts and 5 mins after buying it the elm came on 🤣 Took it to a guy who ran a fleet of transits and he checked the glow plugs and said one’s down and these need all the glow plugs to work or it won’t regenerate and the egr was not working due to one thing or another so I got a new glow plug and egr fitted and now it worked properly . Moral of the story is find someone who knows their onions not couldn’t care less keep throwing parts at it and hope you go away

Hi Jimmy, I didn’t see you do the vaporiser the prime of the vaporiser did you do that off camera? I’m not sure if you did it
@johncoldwell340 Жыл бұрын
Don't think you have too I fitted a few vaporiser and never primed them, but you do have to prime adblue injector to completely different systems
