Much is automated in the Ford Transit today and when the Replace Oil Warning light came on, I knew what to do. When you have the oil, the oil filter and the tools ready, it's only a 10 minute job!

Glad you showed people that they don't need to jack their vans up, just make a stable ramp. I add oil to the new filter and oil the rubber gasket before putting it on hand tight. Glad you showed the code process👍 Hi Joey

Great Video, Nice Job! One comment, as a former shade tree mechanic I learned the hard way that you need to lubricate rubber seals before tightening, this allows the rubber to slip into place naturally and not bind under torque. A light film of fresh oil does the trick.

NIce. One suggestion someone recently gave me is to pour about 1 cup of new oil in...when the drain plug is still out. This helps to rinse/push-out any sludge that might be in the oil pan.

Good video. Only tips I have are to always check for a double gasket on your filter, and lube the gasket before replacing to avoid overheating the rubber and frying it!

G'day Van, Another good & helpfull video for those that do not know how to carry out an oil change on the Ford Transit. I must confess I have always been a Ford person, I only had to own one GMH which is the same as the Chevrolet to switch sides. Although I have made a change since retiring & that was to buy the HINO 4X4 truck & a Suzuki 4X4 to tow behind it, I can send you a photo if you like Mate. That's also great you named Joey after the little fellows we have hear, back when we were a bit younger we actually raised a little Joey after her mum was hit by a car & I can tell you that she was some handfull but lovable too. Be careful with that filter wrench. It is easy to get too much torque when using it to install the filter. Usually the manufacturers say to tighten by hand. And I'd use a longer block under the wheels. I like your videos though. Thanks for the ideas.

Only hand tighten the new oil filter on, about one quarter to at most half a turn after contacting the seat. Just snug it.

Hi Rich, I'd stick with the manufacturers recommendations. I'm not sure about type and amounts; to many different engines and I don't know where you're located either. Have many viewers in Europe and Australia too, all likely with different requirements. In general I would advice you to change your oil filter too when changing the oil. Van Williams

Hi Jason, I assume that you mean after-market (RV) windows for a Ford Transit. It is simpler to add a windows package when you order a new van, but if you get one from the dealer's lot or a pre-owned or new-to-you, adding a window has become easier. I have no recommendations and there are major differences between brands, so do your own research. I recently bought a 2015 Ford Transit 150 passenger van. Only windows that open are the driver and passenger. It’s crazy that none of the other windows can open or at least vent.

I added the 'All'Around Windows' package option (new van) and that came with two built-in 'ventilation windows', which I regard as badly designed. I never use them. Fortunately, if you decide to convert, you will have better options, such as the roof vent and most certainly a floor vent. Van Williams

It is an older video though. However, six years later I'm at 20K; that is going to change soon. With me living in the van, I expect adding 10K-15K a year from now on. Van Williams

Wow I have to look at the Ford Transits oil change in the manual. Most are saying 10k miles. As yours said 6k miles.... Unless they have the first one done early...

As far as I remember, it's 7500mi in my case. I don't mind changing it early the first time. I might say that I don't drive much and I have no clue what algorithm Ford uses to calculate these change times. I don't think it would be a problem to wait a little longer, although some may disagree. Van Williams

I usually change my filter at 4K miles. Then the oil and filter at 8K But I use Mobile 1...It says 1 year if you don't drive 10K miles. The factory says the same today for full synthetic. As I'm nor worried the filter gets clogged. Then oil break down... As the best filters on the market only hold 32 grams at best.

I have struggled my entire life with the oil issue. I've heard about the advantages of leaving the oil in longer and replacing it more often the the required schedule. Now we got all these synthetic oils. The only thing I really know, is that manufacturers will stay at the safe side with the oil changing schedule, so I don't worry too much if I'm a little late. Most of my cars I've had 10-25 years; never had an issue. Van Williams
