Great video. Just bought a used 2010 escape hybrid for my kids to use. Bought it as is, no warning lights during test drives, get it home ...of course a check brake system warning light comes on. I’m not a car guy, this helps me learn and try to understand what problem might be. Wish I knew a mechanic like you near me

same thing happens to us. mine is a 2011 hybrid escape. the check brake system light usually comes on for me if you press the brake too hard and too far down. the light goes away if you turn the car off and on.

@@inder605 Ensure you replace the front flexible brake hoses if you can't confirm they're very new. It's not about external cracks/leaks.... they swell from the inside over time and restrict flow of fluid back to the master cylinder. Ballon when pressed hard and can throw off REGEN or ABS. Many of these vehicles were scrapped because the owner thought the HCU or vacuum assembly was bad.

Soaked it in marvel mystery oil for 20 minutes, blew on it and sprayed it with water and voila! worked like a charm. I'm rockin the Mercury Mariner X taxi with 336K on it, just drove it down the Baja.

Thanks for the video! Very informative. I have the C1015:64-68 on a 2010 Mariner Hybrid.- but only intermittently. Only every week or two, and goes away pretty quickly. Logged the PIDs for both sensors and the pump on/off, and it seemed to be operating as expected (of course it didn't fail when I was logging). So I'm thinking I either have a pump that's on its way out or a check valve that sticks sometimes. Can you think of anything else that would cause intermittent behavior like that, or how to further troubleshoot short of replacing the valve and waiting, and then if it re-occurs, replacing the pump? Thanks!

Replace both front rubber brake lines. I had the same code replaced both hoses because they had rusted under the collars and restricted the lines. I bled like any other vehicle and it’s worked great for over a year.

Hi fordtechmakaloco , I have a 2007 f150 with the 4.2l v6. When the vehicle and AC is on the ac will intermittently shut on and off. When it turns off both the blinker lights illuminate and the brights dash light illuminates. Is this something you have seen before and can assist me with? On a 2015 escape turbo the owner complains of intermittent braking problems. It sounds like the boost is intermittent. No check engine lights. I don't have the vehicle to scan yet. Have you seen brake boosters that cause intermittent problems? I assume that the vacuum is modulated internally in the booster assembly.

I just replaced my front rotors and brake pads. I had the battery disconnected during this time. The brakes were "mushy" after I finished and pumping them didn't help much. The check brake light was on and a yellow sliding car symbol. I drove it around a little hoping they would clear but they didn't. I shut the engine off while still moving and restarted it twice, didn't help. Brought it back home, shut it off while parked, started it back up and the trouble lights were off and the brakes are working perfectly. I don't get it, but I'm happy the car figured it out!

$85 for some vacuum hoses and a check tee... And that's you knowing the parts guy! Sounds about right for Ford parts. It'd be half that for some other makes.

I think you can but the milage is not great(about 18 mpg in San Francisco lots of hills) i have the 2017 ford fusion which i run on IC engine only now, because my electric vacuum is dead, and to keep the vacuum in booster the vehicles run on IC engine only.

Based on what I’ve found, the check valve is only available in an assembly. 9M6Z-9C482-C Comes with all the hoses and clamps.

I need your help Makuloco! Regen brakes disabled, check brake system. I just went to Joe shmo shop n told me master brake cylinder is shot $1800. Glad I said no thanks, got a used one, did it myself and they couldn’t bled the brakes with snap on diagnostics because it doesn’t, needs to be done by Ford. Ford says I need to replace brake sensors and go through the complicated steps of bleeding the brakes. Took a couple steps to parts asked for the part number “for the sensors” turns out it’s built into the master brake cylinder, can’t do just the sensor but… when they showed me the part “brake master cylinder with sensor built in it, it said “sensor not required” now I’m scratching my head. They said 4hrs to bled the brakes “I believe it” so does it really take 4hrs or does it end up being more than that because it’s a complicated system? And is the sensor really not required? Want to hear your thoughts before I spend $600-$700 to bled the brakes because I can’t afford spend money and it not work. Hope to hear from you soon and will be greatly appreciated to hear your input. Keep up on the great videos!

This is a great video, even to understand as someone who doesn’t know much to anything about cars. Question: did the Brake Booster itself change from the 2008 to 2009 system change? My 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid is in the shop right now and they are saying a new booster is ~$1,000 and used ~$500. When I google it, it’s only around $150 new. Wanting to understand if something has drastically changed in the mechanics or something else. I’ll be asking for the codes. Do you know what codes might flag a booster malfunction? Thank you!

I just bought my first Hybrid, a 2010 Escape with just over 132k miles, but there's a persistent Check Brake System error right off the dealer lot, and now two repairs (electric vacuum pump and vacuum sensor) and 850 dollars later, the problem remains. I'm not getting the promised 34 mpg city because it's almost always running in gas mode. The code pull did show the C1015 vacuum pressure error, as you suggested. What did the dealership overlook?

Hello, was wondering if after replacing the electronic power steering module on my 2009 Ford Escape hybrid if that will cause driver side brake caliper to stick?? I replaced caliper, pads and rotor. Still sticking to the point it smokes the pads going down the block. Has to be computer flash related!! Any thoughts???

The one of the hoses on the brakes on the front broke or tore and all the fluid leaked out and my wife was still able to put it in part and then put it in drive and continue driving with no brakes about 80 mi to she got home. I just bought an 08' escape hybrid and everything on it looks great condition except for the braking system and I have a feeling that it needs a new hydraulic control unit... Great Video but I do point out some things for others who came to see this video. My 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid gave me ABS, check brake system warning light on dash, IC engine stays all time, does not goes to hybrid mode even though the HV battery is full, cause electric vacuum pump failed and the vehicle runs all time to keep vacuum in booster.

@@s399512 I bought the part of ebay for around 200 (i think) and took it to the dealership to replace it and the labour cost was around $750. You could probably buy the part from ebay and took it to the small independent shop and they would replace it for cheaper. I think same thing for my drive shaft, and labor was only $150.

i have the 06 hybrid with 230k and its the best a few issues but its more than paid for itself but for the average person i wouldnt recommend it only because everyother blue moon the brakes will completely fail sometimes the pedal locks up but lift your foot up and try again and they work but sometimes but very rarely they fail completely and you be lucky to get it stopped at all ive heard a few different theories why but im not buying it only becuase the very first time it happened i was just driving by a ford dealer and bam no lies just as i passed that dealer but that was 4 years ago and im always conscious of it but because of it i cant sell it or trade it in and the book value is only a grand or so but for anyone else in a the same boat i let the pressure out of my front calipers so they gravity bled and havnt had the total brake failure in 3 yrs still have a locking pedal about 3-4 times a year but if i was near chicago i would go to BSG cause now im runnin a little hot and without a computer !!!

Both my parents and now my FEH have had the braking issue. My parents tried to have theirs fixed, 3 HCUs and 2 MBCs latter not to mention $5500 out, the dealer gave them a good deal on a 2016 escape and a huge trade in on their old on. I still wish Ford would own up to their design flaw...that or I wish a class action would make them. They had 86K and I have 134K miles and if the brakes hadn't failed we'd both still be driving them!!

try letting the pressure out of the front calipers they dont hardly do anything anyway its worth a shot crack the bleeders let out the pressure then tighten I think the issue is a conflick in programing the abs to the control module to the computer its probably why ford stopped making them they couldnt figure out how to make it fail the way they wanted

I need help with my 08, can we email or call? I have the C1525 also, but I checked the pins in the harness, all the wires for the harness look good, and I have swapped out the entire ABS module and still have the same code. It says failed to start? or initiate? (Or similar). Any ideas?

Kind of random but can you do a video on brake bleeding on 05-14 mustangs? I bleed the brakes on my 08 gt and has had a soft pedal ever since. Vacuume bleed untill new fluid is coming from each claiper, did a abs bleed using IDS, and even manually bleed them several times. Could it be my master cylinder?

Hi, we have a 2009 FEH AWD. We get the wrench from time to time and the red triangle with the error message to stop car safely. Biggest problem is periodic loss of power and throttle control. The car is in NY and I'm in CA. The mechanic got a 2022 error code today and said it's an expensive gas pedal to throttle communication circuit failure. Does any of this sound familiar to you. I watched the video about the fuel pump failing and the throttle body needing a thorough cleaning. His estimate to fix is more than the car is worth to us. Can you chime in about what could be a likely problem/fix in your experience? Thanks!!!
