I figure no sense in wasting my time thinking about it. To date it's all been a bunch of fearmongering and clickbait by a lot of these KZbinrs and Expat forums in my opinion. 🍻

I spoke with a tax professional today from Expat Tax Thailand. They offered me tax filing assistance. Meaning they will complete and submit my tax return on my behalf for 12,000 baht. What i wasn't aware of was that any monies remitted to Thailand, whether it's spent on a Thai bank card or a UK bank card, will be taxed. Rent, car hire, food, going out, shopping. It's all taxable!

yeah.. but they cant track it yet .. also, its a grey zone not yet claer enough to make it a truth. + ONLY earnings which you did not pay tax on yet. IF you paid tax in the uk already than you can remitted mostly tax free (depending on the tax % you paid in the UK) by the way, 12k is way to much go with a smaller local company.. i pay 4k for mine.

..."any monies remitted to Thailand, whether it's spent on a Thai bank card or a UK bank card, will be taxed." NOT true. Only money remitted from 1 January 2024 and which was earned since 1 January 2024 might be "assessable income". Income/capital you earned/had prior to 1 January 2024 is NOT taxable. I hope your tax advisor knows this.

@@lingua19999tax preparation fees are deductible in the US even though I only spend about $35 to update my Turbo Tax software and do the taxes myself. Probably wishful thinking to imagine tax preparation fees or visa fees would be deductible from your Thai tax liability.

Thai government can easily get all your ATM withdrawals done in Thailand. Thailand adheres to the Common Reporting Standards (CRS) and the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) protocol, meaning your financial data is automatically exchanged between banks and governments. This may seem invasive, but it’s the current international standard. Being informed and prepared is your best strategy. Otherwise you’re just another expat idiot.

Thaksin wants to stimulate the Thai economy by issue 10,000 baht to every Thai citizen and the financing part will be from everyone that has a 180+ stay in the kingdom. Regular tourists are not affected, so zero cause for alarms for the majority of visitors and the Thai tourism industry.

Greetings, and just wanted to say that your previous audio issues are now *fully resolved.* I saw the intro to a previous video where you had really taken the matter to heart (sorry about that, but that also was a hard truth - a law of video production is that your audience cares 20x more about audio quality than video quality). So, again, thank you for your excellent videos and being a voice of clarity and reason in Thailand, and *whatever you have done to produce this video is PERFECT.* You do not need to change a thing, if this is your result.

Come on Benjamin. Even for you this is a bit transparent. An attorney saying "everyone needs to hire an attorney." I've dealt with at least a hundred attorneys over my life, and almost none of them were actually worth the fees. Just by listening to opinions of others, most of us laymen can get a pretty good idea of the practical implications of a law without having to pay anything. The problem right now is there are no real examples, so everything we're hearing is all speculative. But saying that the answer is to hire an attorney? Good for you, sure. Maybe not so good for us.

I wish Thailand would audit me so I could go about my Goddamed life! I'm a 37 year old American combat veteran. I was a combat medic. I live here, with my Thai wife, and I'm hassled every time I go to immigration about making babies and paying extra money. Fuck taxes period. Apply the law equally, across the board, and I'll happily play along.
