Lea Salonga!!! 💜 fantastic is just an understatement to describe her... She contributed a lot in breaking barriers and stigma against Asian recognition in the arts. She was the first ever person of color to play a role in Les Miserables (since they usually cast Caucasians)... and that's hugeee... She paved the way for future Asians actors in the international stage.

I think the Philippines in general is very underrated. OPM (Original Pinoy Music) has been around before any other industry. Now PPOP in is OPM form is slowly starting to make waves in the world slowly but surely. Why we call it PPOP RISE. Anyways, thanks so much. This was very enlightening. I've been very vocal about this since the past decade that the main reason why the Philippine Entertainment industry is not reaching success globally just like Japan and Korea right now is because of it's own entertainment companies not investing heavily in technologies and innovations in cinematography... and many filipinos in the past are contented with substandard productions but today slowly many filipinos are witnessing the success of Korea in penetrating the global market and now they wanted a better productions from these respective entertainment companies since Filipino artists are very very talented no doubt about it

Not to be too Political but if we follow in the footsteps of Korea and Japan that invest so much in their art sectors especially entertainment we can be more recognized, I think what needs to happen is for the Filipino people and especially the Filipino government to pay attention to our entertainment contents and know how to properly spread it. ABS CBN has done a lot in that direction of spreading Filipino content globally and we need other networks and channels, as well as maybe government backing to really catapult Philippines into being one of Asia's biggest entertainment sectors because there is potential we just need to know how to make utilise it efficiently.

There used to be one called Thrilla in Manila that Mark Wiens featured for a bit on his channel when he was visiting Copenhagen, although I believe they've closed since the pandemic.

There are 4 Filipinas that won the Miss Universe from the Philippines and the recently crowned Miss Universe is a Filipina from Texas. Also Miss International, Philippines got 6 and 1 Miss World. For artist, Sarah Geronimo should be up there. She’s a very talented singer, award winning actress , top influencer. A recipient of the First Asian Best Performer during the Classic Rock Award, MTV Europe Music Award in 2016, Big Apple Music Award,2018. Her song TALA placed 12 spot on Billboard Chart and has 194 million views on YT just to name a few. Shay Mitchell of Pretty Little Liars is actually blood related to Lea Salonga and it's a full circle moment for their family because Lea is cast in HBO Max Pretty little liars Original sin and they are currently filming the season 2. Also you mentioned H.E.R, she and Lea are part of the producing team of a new Broadway musical which will open on July with an all Filipino cast. Lea will join the cast for a limited engagement.
