@@The_Gallowglass That's exactly what he's disappointed about. If he had gone into diagnostic medicine right after med school, Taub really would be House by this point. He's definitely smart enough for it. But because he chose to first go into plastic surgery for the money, no one wanted to hire him for a serious medical job except for House. He had to go through that humiliating selection process in season 4 just to become something else than a plastic surgeon, his credentials from med school apparently totally forgotten because he spent years injecting people with botox.

Honestly? As Taub put it, he envies Foreman, he would rather a rising career with one small fuckup that is staining his name, instead he's down in the mud in an effort to try and fix his marriage. Cold water and a centrifuge would have gotten rid of the acetaminophen, or he could have used a less toxic pill. I think they were going for brand recognition here.

Seeing Foreman all happy and joking around besides that Season 2 episode since the tone was so dark is amazing in this episode because of how serious and pensive he always is. I wasn't a huge fan of seasons 6, 7 and 8 of house but this one was great. It's nice when they experiment with the writing, the show gets formulaic at times with all the patient cases.

Ugh, I wish hydrocodone had that effect. Hell, Dilaudid/hydromorphine doesn't even get close to that. Though, to be fair, when my appendix exploded back in 1995 and I woke up after surgery on moriphine, I thought I was tripping because I saw Santa Clause in my hospital room... immediately fell back to sleep. Woke up later, my mom sitting at my bedside (I was 15 at the time) and laughingly told her of the drug-induced vision of Old Saint Nick....turns out, he really was there earlier. That is, a guy dressed up as Santa, going to patients' rooms that Christmas Eve to raise patient morale, lol.

It depends on the person. Hydrocodone messes me up way more than oxycodone or morphine. I never have had hydromorphone. I once had Meperidine in the hospital but it just knocked me out.

There was an employee dressed as Santa, I had, at the time, assumed that I was hallucinating until my mom told me that he was there and thought it was funny. So, no, it did not make me see anything, just goofed me up enough to not figure out that it was Christmas Eve afternoon, and some staff might dress up and visit patients, lol. Orally, it didn't even affect my pain, let alone anything else....while 45mg of roxycodone at least helps a bit as long as I don't do something "crazy" like...walk to the mailbox.

I’m a chronic pain patient and the term pain killers is kind of a misnomer. Opioids don’t exactly kill pain, they just make you feel in such a way that you no longer care about the pain.

Like IV Fentanyl in the hospital. Looped after the first minute, but when they came back to give a second dose, I told them, "It's not going to work." It didn't. Started to make me nauseated like most opioids, except Vicodin. And so, we have Zofran. They just needed to stop the pain until the Tylenol kicked in, and poof! Flare passed, and I was right as rain within a day.

This is a complete lie. Opiates have the same effect regardless of the presence of pain. It always gets you high. Its just a matter of how high you need to be in order to deal with the pain.

Abigail Deeks yes you do. What removes the pain isn't the high. And the high helps, it's a part of the 'numbness'. But if you take the damn thing with no pain you'll sense only the brain kick and you'll get high. When you're in pain the high removes the stress from the mind, you don't feel high because it produces relief.

As someone who is in that much pain and taking opioids I know that you are wrong. But your body gets used to that sort of drug so the longer you take it for, the less it works both in side effects (feeling high) and pain relief. You can take a week or so away from it and it'll start working better again but the amount of pain you're in has nothing to do with how high you feel from taking any kind of drug.
